  1. Fair comment I have changed engines in a car with just a engine crane and some jack stands and some anger and a couple of close friends it’s not like a day job it’s something that takes time and effort I’m taking about restoring a mk2 escort 1976ish of course it’s a different ball game, if you where to do it with the correct tools you need impact gun loads of impact sockets can use hand tools but will suck, you don’t need a fancy 4 pot lift that just makes life easy experience is something you learn with trying to do it you need to try before you fail if I’m wrong correct me, a donor car is something you can get from copart or fb or anyware you want it’s a lot of effort for a Fabia but it’s part of a hobby make sure to buy a work shop manual for the car in hand to ensure you torque any bolt to manufacture spec, indoor space? small garage would work for when the car is a bare shell work on it during non rainy days or buy a small car size marquee simple solution you don’t need indoor space for something like that if it’s cool power though?
  2. I would have to agree with half of the people on here there is like 0 mods for this model only thing I been wanting to do to mine is put a different lump into it as there is no bolt on mods and I think this 1.2 polo engine is made of cheese even if strap a turbo kit to it would be funny but it would be a ticking time bomb I would say have a look into pd190 or pd160 or pd180 spoke to a couple of people and they said the swap is not as bad as you would think I would not want to do it with out the correct tools but would be fun todo but insurance is a hard one. Best option would be to buy a donor PD190 and then swap 90% of drive train and wires over should be plug in play really possible fab work needed.
  3. Not sure what it is with these Fabias/vw cars they seem to have really week springs as I had snapped a drivers side this time last year I need to replace the passenger side at some point but I’ll wait till it snaps spoke to a mk1 owner last weekend had the same issue with his car as well seems to be a theme with VW cars had a neighbour the other day replace passenger side spring 3 weeks ago on his T5.
  4. @rum4mo I’ll keep a eye on it as I have undone that bolt about 4 times before torqued the bolt back up, I was aware this engine mount is sold as once pice from vw, I was a little unsure about doing it but all went well I think the reason why is the engine is heavy as is very stubborn to get back in so I would not advise if you don’t want to lose your fingers as I could see how it could go wrong probably why they don’t want you to mess about with that bolt. Plus if your not careful you will damage the thread on the bolt as well so try at own risk.
  5. This helped a lot really sketchy but it worked as engine did not want to get back into mount it’s a two man job but ended up doing it by my self just changing the coolent at the moment
  6. I will give this a try tomorrow with a friend as he has better jack the does not go down every 5 seconds and I don’t have a block of wood not sure why I don’t it’s very annoying not having one,
  7. Hi everyone, im replacing a lower control arm on my mk2 Fabia and I have ran into a bit road block on the outer bolt the engine is in the way I think the engine mounts have given up the ghost possibly I can’t remove the bolt more then in the image if I jack up the gear box a little bit it gives me a tiny bit more room but still not enough to take the bolt out any answers would be good as this car is never ending grief, ps added another photo of why I’m changing this part as the bushing has fully popped out of the control arm 🤬
  8. Hi, quick one just parked up my fabia and where the mileage displays it just popped up with saying battery never seen this before today any ideas it just just a recommendation to get it replaced because it’s cold? It was only change a couple of months ago lol
  9. 10/10 i genuinely had no idea i saw a couple 1.2 htp with the option on them when i was hunting for one or they must of been a bigger engine size. my old Hyundai had abs switch on it that was a 1.2 i20 i don't like Hyundais unforntally just feel like there going to topple lol.
  10. Wheel sensors would not be too bad im getting a cdvs soon as well i don't really pay attention to the dash so after work ill have a look off the top of my head the light does come on but i could be imaging this might make sense why the car does not judder i did not really pay attention to it till today really changing the bulb for the speedo won't be too bad its not going to be any worse then rewiring from the bcm witch i had to do to get the windows working as someone did a boge on the window control module wires. im a little to skint for the old garage im more of a learner been working on cars for a while anyway if i give up then ill have to use a garage problem is lot of garages in my area are a little dodgy they love to over change and make out other issues are there when there not 😞 so i tend to avoid them only use one for parts mainly because there cheap.
  11. Hi, I have been driving my fabia for a while now and today it decided to nearly slid out i was having a little bit to much fun but i did notice there is no abs light on the dash and the brakes did not do the normal judder that most cars that have abs installed do i do have a abs pump on my car and module but it seems to not do anything even when i brake harshly it does not judder either. Could it be a sensor thats playing up or the pump just not working i know the abs light works as it did display it when I first got the car it does have junky asda triers on it at the moment not my first choice of trier. is there a way of enabling the abs and disabling it on these cars as i know some models have the button i dont seem to have one is there a fuse that could be blown.
  12. Hi all, I took the plug of the head lights and white is a short to ground and positive any ideas where I can find the end of the white cable
  13. Hi, repair is possible I just take the harness out of the door it’s about a 15 to 10 min jobby, the look with have to be manually locked while to wait for a repair but is worth it,
  14. Not a problem The window module wire going to the BCM is White and Gray the windows module is in the motor as i did not know this still i spoke to a very helpful guy named @Breezy_Pete he does repair the harnesses for a fee so if its broke speak to him as he can get it repaired other wise its a £160 odd pounds for the harness from skoda direct.
  15. UPDATE: windows are working passengers side as well a driver's side. Spoke to local Skoda Dealer today and they have provided me will a full spec list for my car and they have stated that the side lights should not be on unless the switch is on so my car has no option for DRL unless I retrofit the parts required i might need to give this issue to skoda but i wanna avoid it really @nige8021 your the closest person to me i might need to ask for your help on pms.
