  1. Hey there! Welcome to forum Fred! Tell us more, why Skoda, why Superb, what you had before? I am not sure about all others but I am always curious what made people choose what they choose. Good luck with reading all (most) the threads on the forum! Vlad
  2. Let us k ow how it goes with Kodiaq, as you said it should be an interesting swap. I was really thinking about Superb but found it to be a loud car, it felt like a window was left slightly open on motorway and the car was 2024! Friend of mine moved from Superb to Kodiaq and said that Kodiaq is much quieter!
  3. I can't see that the engine goes into 2 cylinder mode while going over speed bumps, but, if it was, would it cause potentially problems with gearbox changing from 1st to 2nd? I am pretty sure I tried S mode before, and it does the same thing - holds on to 1st gear and revs high.
  4. Thanks for suggestions @MarkyG82 - No, my heel is attached to the floor and accelerator is not used, as the speed I am going over these bumps are very very slow which makes sense for gearbox to go into 1st gear, half way through the speed bump I slightly and gently apply the accelerator and the gearbox does not change to 2nd until engine revs to 2800-3200rpm. I will try to make a video of the car going over these massive speed bumps.
  5. I was watching Tyre Reviews on YouTube and the guy mentioned that Pirellis (all season) are the most comfortable out of the bunch he was testing and quietest. I checked later noise rating on a label, before I ordered them, read a few more reviews and just bought them. They are much more comfortable and quieter then original Bridgestone!
  6. Can it come up under private number plate - V15DMR? @Rooted many thanks for your help and time, really appreciate it.
  7. The engine and gearbox were remapped about a year ago. The main reason I went for a remap is to sort out a gearbox but is still didn't. The car is good but at the moment I can't say it is a keeper until I sort out the gearbox, if I can't I will trade the car in. It does annoy me big time. I am already looking for a new car, therefore the thread about iV and 2.0 petrol, but after test drive of iV I realised my Karoq is still a decent car.
  8. I don't know , number plates are SJ69MKN, it is end of September or early October registered. I asked dealership which is Skoda in Glasgow about issues with my gearbox and if all recalls were done, they said gearbox is fine and no recalls are needed to be sorted, I don't know uf they were sorted prior I bought the car or the car just didn't need it.
  9. My car is 2019, it still has couple months of additional 2 year warranty but service department at Henry's said the gearbox does not need software update, i asked them before almost straight away after I bought the car. The car, according to them, does not have outstanding recalls either. It must be something wrong with it, I am surprised no one else had this issue.
  10. Couldn't agree more. As I said, every one in the garage thinks Superb is dead quiet and when I said it is not they looked at me like I am stupid and know nothis about cars!
  11. Hi, I occasionally put E5 petrol in, like this tank I filled with Sainsburys E5, but did not notice any difference with gearbox. I can't say it is sluggish, it is totally fine in most cases, only when I slow down to go over long speed bumps that are covered in potholes the gearbox jumps to 1st gear and then very hesitant to move to 2nd, even if I use flappy paddles, until you rev the engine (in 1st gear) up to 3000-3500rpm. I will make a video, it will be easier to show, hopefully. I have spoken to dealership, couple of times, they say gearbox is fine which it is if you don't have massive speed bumps around! I checked gearbox specialist in Glasgow, they quote £169 for DQ200 service, not sure what they service.
  12. I thought about it and I have a garage so I could install a outdoor socket or a unit to charge it, unfortunatelly we don't have chargers at the office, even though main boss drives a Tesla. I raised that questions a FEW times but the answer is no, as we rent out offices it is benefactors responsibility to install chargers, if they want. And they don't want to do that, crap. If I could charge at work, I would strongly consider a full EV. Polestar, I like the look of them, and should be good cars, but I want Superb (Lexus ES) space at the back, this is why I do not consider BMW, Mercs, Volvos, even in Estate forms - they all have less space, plus considerably more expensive to buy, insure and run and not more reliable. I came up with an idea, may be I can fix the gearbox on Karoq, I do not service it or something, at least talk to DSG specialist and find out if they can advise what problem I might be having, if I can sort that, then I can leave with Karoq.
  13. Unless Skoda have less sound insulation on iV cars, to lower the weight?
  14. Many thanks @jakk for your response. I created a thread recently to find out what people think about iV and 2.0ltr petrol. I took an iV for a test drive yesterday, on motorway the car was showing between 60-70mpg at about 65mph, the battery was charge but I couldn't tell is the car used a little of ICE or electric mode. The car is very comfy and smooth, and gearbox is lovely, compared to my DSG but the noise the car has on motorways just put me off, wind noise, other car around you noise, it felt like one of the windows was slightly opened, it wasn't, I checked. I wanted to like this car so much, amazing space and comfort but noise is a big NO NO for me. I don't get it why though, it could be this particular car, as everyone says Superbs are quite, you should see Sale Depatments faces when I told them about it, they couldn't believe it what I am saying! My Karoq is quieter then a Superb I test drove. Do you think they have less sound insulation on iV cars, to lower the weight?
