  1. How do you find the ride Stu? Any harsher with th Eibach springs? Do you need bump stops btw? Rich
  2. Hi peeps was after some advice on what suspension upgrade to go for... I getting a bit sick of the understeer and thrashy ride quality the OEM setup is giving me if I'm honest. I want to retain as much comfort and aviod what I did to my Bora where I fitted eblich pro kit and dampers which made the ride very harsh. I've been told that fitting FSD's to the stock springs makes a real difference in handling whilst keeping, if not upgrading the ride quality. Or should I consider a upgrading the springs? Are there better one to go for? Cheers Rich
  3. My vRS came with Michelin PS2's fitted, done just short of 10k and the fronts have worn quite a bit. Would I be able to put FK452's on the front with PS2's on the back? Or is it best I stump up the extra cash and put some new PS2's on? Note: - The PS'2 cant handle the estimated 240ish bhp im running atm
  4. What about South Derbyshire? I know of a perfect pub with a good sized beer garden in Repton
  5. Sounds good, maybe Rugeley way?
  6. Well, had a mod fitted by my local Revo garage and map tweaked to suit on sat....There is a definate difference! Seems a little smoother esp the top end of the rev range
  7. Might be an idea to ask the guys at Sportstech to do it for me! So the difference that noticable even on stage I ? Rich
  8. Are you planning to DIY the pump? Wouldn't know where to begin Stu, as you know....
  9. I have a carbonio fitted which definately made a difference to the throttlr response
  10. Was after some advice. I Currently have the stage I map on my car (with performance panel filter) and have just ordered an uprated pump from JKM. I have been reading the performance gains available with the new pump fitted (not using Steve car as an example as it has ALL bells n whistles!) and wanted to know how I can best take advantage of the extra fueling which will be available to the engine. The obvious choice would be to go stage II but I dont want to go to the time or expense of having a perforamce exhaust fitted. As my understanding from Ben is that you need the turbo back kit with the sports cat which is alot of pennies! Can my map be tweaked to take account for the new pump or would stage II be an option? Any advice is muchos appreciated!
  11. Just ordered one of these pumps...now I need someone to fit it for me!!
  12. Thanks for the replies chaps. Tried the diamondbrite 'conserver' neat today. Went on like a wax and the paintwork came up a treat. Still alot of scratches on the paintwork but much better now
  13. Thanks for the input chaps, £550 + 250 labour seems a bit steep! Maybe the map need tweaking somewhat to move the power back up the rev range? Can this be done?? (KEV?)
  14. I know that I'm not supposed to be complaining about this but... I had my vRS TFSI remapped at Revo before xmas and after a few visits back I was the difference it made was remarkable and I was happy with the performance. However, me being me wanted a tad more... So I bought a Carbonio induction kit from one of the memebers and fitted it (cracking the enginer cover in the process :() The throttle reponse increased, in a BIG way! (seems flatter higher up the rev range tho - might need Revo to tweak it) So much so, that I cant get the power down now! It wheel spins in second, even from standing!! This is making getting out at Islands an art form in heavy traffic where as it used to be quite easy. Now I've checked my front tyres and they are starting to wear a bit but still have plenty of tread on them as they have only done 7k. They are stock Michelin Pilot Sports on 18"'s Any ideas on how to solve my problem chaps? (apart from a Quattro drivetrain! )
  15. Thanks for the replys guys, is the 5w 40 or 30 stuff I need? Does VW 507 cover both oils?
  16. Can anyone recommend a decent paint restoring / valeting place in the midlands area (ideally derby or burton ) to get my paintwork sorted? It had diamondbrite applied when I bought it, cant believe I fell for the sales ******** :( Its ****e...enough said. Looking some on the reusults on here I'd my paintwork is looking a bit jaded for an 07 plate! Any ideas guys? Cheers
  17. I've told that the 2.0T lump likes to drink oil for the first 6k or so, mine has dropped a tad tbf. Obviously need to top it up, the sticker under the bonet says that it has shell helix in there from the factory. So was gonna get a litre to keep it topped up...17 quid for a litre??? Are they havin laugh? No wonder Shell announced record profits this year! I mean, I used to get 5L of PD oil from VW direct for 30quid!!! The Chap at sportstech (my local Revo garage ) didnt really rate it, said that the long life stuff was better. Thing is, Skoda have me on the 20k service plan, but Im sure I'll need to get the oil changed before that. Question is, do I pay the 17 quid and top it up and hope the oil will be fine (which the dealer says it will.....) Or, change the oil now for some better stuff? Any ideas peeps?
  18. Gone for a Green panel filter from Awsome, only £36 inc vat AND postage (briskoda discount used of course!)
  19. Afternoon all, hope we all had a good Christmas ( I did as Santa took my car to sport tech and got it Revo'd ) After my remap I was thinking of trying to increase the air flow to the engine. From what I've read the extra air flow and bhp gained is marginal at best, however there are some posts stating that its a worth while upgrade as the engine tends to run out of breath higher up the rev-range with the stock filter. Any opinions on this peeps? If a worthwhile upgrade, which is best? K&N, Green, Pipercross etc... Cheers, off for a sherry now P.S - Anybody got any info on higher pressure fuel pumps? The guy at sports tech mentioned that one of the limitations on power for the TFSI engine was fuel delivery...
  20. Thats a good question... Fact is, value for money-wise yes I would. Just be careful which dealer you buy it from, as it can make all the difference. Besides, my purchase of an Octy again would depend on how much the new Superb Hatch will be when it comes out! (well, the model fitted with 4x4 and 2.7 v6 CR diesel lump of course!!
  21. I have the same problem in my Octy II vRS. One thing that hasn't been mentioned is perspiration. Being more generously proportioned then most, after walking up the very steep hill to our works car park I find that by the time I get into my car I myself am usually leaking (never mind the boot seal..) Sweat itself is warm and will initially evaporate in the air. And seeing as at this time of the year you dont have your window open, the moisture has nowhere to go and instead condensers in the cool air and settles in the cabin of the car. Then, if like me you generally use your car for commuting you wont use your car until the morning, at which point you will be greeted with moisture or sometimes ice on the inside of your car. I have found opening the window at the start of my journey then getting the aircon on around 22c to warm up the car generally works
  22. Michelin Pilot Sports on my MKII vRS from stock and gotta say, I can't fault em for performance. However at £130 quid a throw they should be!!!
  23. Might seem like a daft question but I have always liked the look of them on beemers and got to thinking that one would look pretty damn fine on me black vRS I hear there dual use as well (RF + GPS) Any ideas chaps? Ahem, I mean Stu
  24. Just wanted to Publically thank Stu for sorting my car out last Saturday. I drove down on in the morning to have my Maxidot and OEM BT fitted. I arrived a tad late but got straight off to the dealer to get the Pod coded only to discover that numpty boy here had forgotten the plastic key fob with the pin number on it which was needed to recode the new unit But thanks to Chris and Stu they managed to find a way to do it, then get back to Stu's to get the BT kit fitted. A few hours later and hey presto! Maxidot, Bluetooth (which works wonderfully Btw) AND cruise control all fitted! All of which made for a great (all be it rushed) drive back. Its stuff like this that makes it worth being part of a forum or 'collective' where members can help one another. Stu is the true Jedi master... :jedi:
  25. last time I checked this was a Skoda forum...not a 'I want one of those' forums...':naughty:
