RED Charge PHEV
I’ve never seen that when i use the reduced current charge. Must be a new feature for the newer cars. what i would like to know is how to unplug the thing consistently. It gives me about 5 seconds between unlocking the car and attempting to unplug it. Oh, and only after you unplug it in the dark, it lights up the helpful white light. maybe it should do that with the coming home lights perhaps? Come on skoda,

Infotainment System Restarting endlessly
I got the 1941 installed by the dealer today. I was on 1889 and only recently getting the odd day of constant restarts, then some days no problem at all. it also received an update on the way home which is still downloading, so may be a biggish one. not done any long journeys yet, but so far the only changes i think I’ve noticed are: seems faster to load, sub woofer seems louder, but i think this might be placebo, interestingly, the g meter now has three options, it can display live, historical or remember the highest g I’ve pulled in any direction! I don’t think it did that before. However my canton has a peculiar trait, which it has before the update too, but which the “individual” equaliser setting would change depending on which preset you started from. It’s hard to explain, but if you selected individual after being on “rock” or would sound very different then if you selected individual after it had been in “voice”. Like the start point of the changes was preset dependent. not the same problem I’ve heard others complaining about where it forgets the equaliser settings on reboot.

Infotainment System Restarting endlessly
This happened to me yesterday and then this morning three resets. I’ve never had issues like this until today. just so happened i was on my way to the dealer for a different repair. I told them about the reset and they said they’ll update me next week to a “very new update” usually they dismiss me about updates and say it’s not due any. I’m on 1889.

despite fixing any errors for anyone, has anyone gained any features or other improvements from installing this update?

Infotainment System Restarting endlessly
thanks so much to @Vroom Such a great thing to do to help out so many on here. Saving Skoda a fortune too in lost time updating all these units at their workshops.
- Adaptive cruise control woes.

Infotainment System Restarting endlessly
Hi @varooom can i jump on the bandwagon too please? I’ve not been suffering reboots, but my canton does some silly things sometimes. I’m currently on 1889 as it was delivered Sept 2022.

Virtual Cockpit Updates
I wonder if its possible to code it in, as Seat and VW all seemed to be able to select the centre area from model years 2020 onwards, not just 23. They all had the same hardware so might be an adaptation work around? Is anyone with this feature able to put up any details of how their modules may be coded? I can compare it to my 22 year model that doesnt have it.

Tested and working coding Octavia mk4
this worked for me btw,

Virtual pedal.
There is a bit of a knack. My advice is don’t over think it. I find one forward and back usually works, like you’re going to toe bung a football. any left to right, not so much. make sure it’s actually enabled in the vehicle settings first of course. in summary, forward thrusting motion for maximum satisfaction…

Battery charge indicator
Same issue reported by me and at least one other dealer sorted it for me and blamed the supplying dealer for not doing “something”. it involved a whole system reset which was annoying, but it’s never reoccurred

Tested and working coding Octavia mk4
Mine came with this activated as standard. strange old world at skoda.

Tested and working coding Octavia mk4
That’s interesting because the g meter did work for me. It’s pretty cool actually. My torque reading is there, but it stays on zero. mines the hybrid though.

Engine needs to run longer
Yeah that doesn’t sound right. Are you able to get a reading of the 12v battery voltage? i recently had an obd11 Dongle on mine, and noticed with the ignition on, and some charge in the high voltage batteries, the 12v was showing a health 14v with the engine off. I wonder if yours isn’t doing that properly. There were lots of early adopters complaining of flat 12v batteries even with charged up high voltage batteries. I think they had to have a module changed or updated to cure it. Sounds slightly different from your problem though. good luck getting it sorted, you might have to wait for something more overt to happen before they take you seriously

Engine needs to run longer
Once the engine is running, and you get that message, how long does it continue to run for? When mine does this, it won’t go off again until it’s warmed up. Can be a few minutes if it’s particularly cold or I’m not going very fast. there may be other things that trigger it, such as particulate filter, cat converter temp/condition, battery etc if yours is just permanently on then that surely has to be a fault they can’t ignore?

Soundaktor kaput
Sounds good, did you use the built in apps, or do the long coding yourself? If you’ve done with it, I’ll give you a good price for it? I’m thinking of getting one, but a bit put off by the fact that you can only use it for a year before you have to pay again.

Delivery times?

PHEV home electric charger
I’ve got one of these Wallbox, pulsar plus it’s been great so far. It’s really small, which is handy as I was able to get it where I wanted it. it can charge up to 7kw, which is overkill for the phev as it tops out at 4. but I’m sure there will be an electric car there one day that will benefit. its tethered so there’s no messing about looking for cables when i arrive home in the dark and wet. the app is great too, and tracks all the charges and costs as you go along. I paid £800 to have it installed with a 30m ish run down the drive, back in 2021. I suspect costs will have gone up a bit since then. I sometimes use the granny charger when at work, and it takes 5 plus hours of the day to charge from empty. this will do it in under 4.

Disable wireless charger?
i imagine you could sell that for a sum. Skoda charge a lot for them when new. I bought a homemade but custom fit one from somebody on this form, so far so good, it will benefit from some anti slip mat, but they’re on ebay if you want to replace yours

Thoughts on leaving.
In can imagine how all the problems have blunted your enjoyment of it. Is it possible that a replacement exhaust, and some obd coding could fix possibly all your issues with it? Skoda will always have to be down the pecking order, the vag branding will demand it, so not surprising they can’t make it as sporty as a golf gti. At least it’s better looking than one though! I’m lucky that I’ve not really suffered with hardly any of the issues a lot of the early cars suffered with, and even though I had to wait 16 months for it to be delivered, that meant I didn’t get an early one. I think i’d be pretty upset too if I had. Hope you enjoy the new car, however I would imagine that it will also need the lane assist disabling after every start up. I think all new cars sold now do don’t they?

Canton 'forgets' EQ settings.
It won’t help, but you may feel better to know you’re not alone with this problem. seems most who have it are on software 1896. https://www.skodacommunity.de/threads/beste-einstellung-canton-sound.137783/page-6 use Google translate and go to the last page on that thread.

Loud fan noise when starting to charge the car - any comments?
Mine did this today, really loud fan as soon as I plugged it in and was still doing it twenty mins later. decided something wasn’t right so unplugged it and sat in the car to cycle the ignition, got loads of errors, engine error, don’t go above 4000rpm error, visit workshop, bongs and bings everywhere, fan still blowing. got out, locked, unlocked, back in, started it. Then……. Nothing, like it never happened. I thought I’d been luckier than most with this one, but maybe the errors are starting to creep in!

Tailgate / boot opening by itself
I wondered this, but sensor won’t operate unless key is really close. i think i may have cracked the problem, and i feel pretty stupid. As it’s so difficult to know which button is which by touch alone, i placed a small jewel sticker on the remote from my boy’s crafting box, quite pleased myself, as i didn’t have to look at the key to unlock it. I thought it was over the lock button, but i think it perhaps was more over the open boot button. keys were in my pocket both times it happened, so can only assume a combination of new jeans, post Christmas spread in the middle region, and some crouching may have contributed to the issue! a cautionary tale for us all I hope.

Tailgate / boot opening by itself
So twice today I’ve looked out the window to see the tailgate open on the octavia iv. both times the car was locked and keys weren’t anywhere near it. it’s also raining which is great. is this something anyone else has experienced? What can I do to have some confidence it won’t do it in some car park when i leave it for the day? It’s occasionally opened the boot on unlocking too, but never when left unattended, now suddenly twice in one day?

Charge Indicator Light
Mine did this a few days after it was delivered. It was stuck that way until a dealer reset it. It’s been fine ever since. they were scratching their heads over it but claimed that the original dealer hadn’t performed some kind of check or initial setup on the car, which I think is a little far fetched considering it worked fine for quite a few days, but it’s what they came up with, and it came back working properly, so who knows. Though they had factory reset everything, so I had to go through the painful setup new user process all over again. Maybe you could try that first, and save you waiting 6 weeks for an appointment?
