Skoda Octavia 2020 infotainment ghost-touching, random reboots et
Mine does it every spring. Then it’s bad for a couple weeks and then it gets slowly better before being fine again until the next spring. When it does it i often get trouble with the sos module too, and sometimes the car thinks its left hand drive for a little while too and stops me overtaking cars on the left when cruise is on. I thought I’d fixed it the other week by pulling fuses. It was better for 12 hours then came back. I tried disconnecting the 12v battery, made no difference. Infact it was a little worse after this. The next thing i tried seemed to work instantly, though i think I’m crazy as its maybe a coincidence, but i sprayed wd40 along the touch pad volume control and wiped it down, let a little get in the cracks too. It seemed to help on that occasion. Is getting better now, just like last year. I can’t believe it’s only temp related, as it’s done it on cool mornings and its been fine on really hot days. I believe it’s something to do with vw servers. I was told I’d have to wait months for an appointment at skoda Good luck, let me know if you get any joy with any of the above.

Infotainment system switches itself on
Update. It was looping terribly, so i pulled fuse 30 (30amp, picture below, one below the yellow tag on its own) and then left it out, locked the car Abe came back 30 mins later, reinstated the fuse and started the car. Seems to have fixed it.

Infotainment system switches itself on
Bit earlier this year, but it’s doing it again. Been fine since i last posted. Started with the alarm going off with the engine running today and car unlocked which is a new variation. Now the constant boot cycling and volume turning down. Coincidence that it’s the first warm day of the year?

Navigation system setting new destination by itself
Every morning on my way to school drop off mine tells me the best route to a town 150 miles away. I think it’s got it in it’s head that it’s a regular journey i do and therefore its being helpful. It isn’t and it’s not. You can delete or switch off the “learning” function. I think that’s what’s triggering mine, but it might be different for you. I don’t really use the in built sat nav anyway, preferring car play so it’s not caused any issues for me.

New software available version 1989
I don’t know if this is your issue, but bear with me. When i first got my car, i customised my tiles on the Home Screen. I made the smart link tile one of the ones that was 3x3 big. Smart link would be either Android auto or car play. In this case im using car play. Anyways, if i wanted it to be full screen, id tap the tile and it would go “full screen” except it didn’t. There would be a border. The solution for me was to make the smart link tile 1x1. Then when i press it, it would go true full screen with no borders. Could that be your problem? Since other people are showing screen shots without the border.

I could have written the same post. June July every year, then fine with no interventions until next year.

Infotainment system switches itself on
Just a note, that mine has started doing this a little again this month. Exactly a year ago it was last doing it, and no issues since. It also did it in June 23 with no issues until June 24. There’s some kind of pattern with this for me and it’s more to do with it being June at the moment. It was sat in 32 degree heat and sunshine on Saturday no problem. 14 degrees this morning and it’s doing it, so I don’t think it’s just heat related.

Is there a guaranteed way to get the IV PHEV engine to start without starting to drive?
I think if you open the bonnet it does. Usually putting it in hybrid and cranking the desired battery to 100% does, especially if you add demand for heating etc. I’m not sure but can you hold it in neutral and pin the accelerator?

Media In cable for Ipod on Mk4
Not sure what exactly you mean but what I meant is rather than wipe the stick you have already, just experiment syncing a different stick, even if you just sync a few artists rather than your entire library. That way you can practise and see if it’s what you’re looking for. Once you’re happy you know what you’re doing, then wipe your big memory stick and sync the whole library over to that. I’m not an expert on media monkey anymore as it was years ago I first used it to get my iPod classic sorted out without using itunes but there’s forums and advice specifically for that on media monkeys website and elsewhere on the web with loads of advice and guidance. Basically you get your library how you want it and then plug your usb in to the computer and sync the bits you want to. You can have multiple different usb sticks syncing to it if you want.

Media In cable for Ipod on Mk4
It’s fairly easy, but can be time consuming if you’ve got a big library, more so if you have pro levels of ocd and like it all to be perfect 🤩 Maybe experiment with a spare usb stick in case you get lost along the way

Media In cable for Ipod on Mk4
Yeah i think it does make it better, i can’t remember now, but i think I tried just copying the files and directories over and i was disappointed, but can’t remember why exactly. It might have done the tracks in alphabetic order or something. Using media money ensures the tracks are in the right order, artwork is correct etc. also once you’ve sorted it all out, you can sync changes and update it with new music when you have it etc. Also got a load of kid tv shows and films on there in case I’m ever sat in the car waiting for something. The genre thing is a life saver when you want to jump artists without searching through the lot from “a” every time. To be fair i use Spotify most of the time

Media In cable for Ipod on Mk4
I plugged my iPod classic in to one of the usb ports and it didn’t recognise any music on it, i think you’ll need to put it all on a usb pen instead. you can use software like media monkey to write all the album covers etc and titles to the USB stick, then you can browse it perfectly well on the media display much like the iPod would have. i tend to use the genre as a shortcut, if you make all artists beginning with an “a” as genre “a” and all artists beginning with “b” as genre “b” and so on, it can make looking for what you want a bit quicker, as you just pick the genre search function, otherwise you have to search from the beginning artist every time and scroll all the way down. it’s pretty good system when you work around it’s quirks, voice commands even works on it. or just get Spotify.

Ambient lighting. Is it possible a retrofit ?
That’s interesting, i think I’d be happy with a white one, it’s more functional there so white might be useful. that part number comes up as the same light that’s in the door handles when i googled it. I wonder what the equivalent part number is for the golf, that might be multi coloured

Ambient lighting. Is it possible a retrofit ?
amazing, I noticed the golf had lightning in this area. My VRS doesn’t, though it has the other ambient lights. do any Octavias have this as standard? Any interest in making some more up the same as yours to sell? If it’s plug and play, it might be easy to install.

Skoda Citigo SEL 2019 without DAB - how to add?
Good shout thanks, it’s a 2018 facelift colour model, so maybe I’ll get lucky. I’ll check before I buy anything

Skoda Citigo SEL 2019 without DAB - how to add?
Just to resurrect this thread, I’m interested in doing this. I’ve found radios listed on German eBay with that part number. they’re for vw ups, I’m guessing there should be no issue in using one of those? I suppose it would say vw on boot up, but I can live with that. Do you recall approximate costs of getting the protection removed? Or can anyone recommend anyone in W Yorks / e lancs that can do this?

Octavia IV blind spot assist & reversing camera
You mention all software updates, is that for any module? Can you update the virtual cockpit to later versions?

Are you able to calibrate them?

Advice sought on iV pros and cons for my slightly unusual usage situation.
You’d have to do the sums i guess, but my advice would be probably just don’t bother charging it in France at all for the time you’re there. You can run around on petrol only when you’re there. you should see between 45 and 50 mpg like that, or a bit less if they’re really short journeys. If you get a dedicated charger at home, then you’ll also be able to get a very cheap overnight tariff. It could mean the cheap costs for the majority of your use at home subsidises the French usage. Of course you’d have to lump the costs of installing a charger and the likely increased costs of a hybrid over equivalent diesel. i think some energy providers give low night time tariffs without a car charger though too. personally i prefer the way the hybrid drives over the string of diesels have had previously, but then mine is a company car so I’m also influenced by bik tax and cost per mile. you’re kind of the case point for a plug in hybrid. Mostly short local journeys done on electric but without the range anxiety for infrequent long journeys. Like having two slightly compromised cars in one. overall it may be comparable to just running the diesel all the time, but then these decisions aren’t always just about the cost per mile, its okay to want a new car!

MySkoda (Essentials): No longer providing either data or control
that’s different than my experience, when I got it all the data is there going back 18 months since the car was new.
-
Reversing software updates?
That’s worrying. Do you have canton?

MySkoda (Essentials): No longer providing either data or control
So i got the warning that the essentials app is closing down, so i got the my skoda app. it seems fine, but the section where you can look back at previous journeys and see driving data for each individual journey has all been merged and now a daily avg is the highest resolution data it can show, also you can’t change between “since refuel” “journey” or “long term.” Any more. is that right, or have i missed a trick somewhere? Everything else seems functional and much as it was, albeit a bit slicker (and more advertisements). I’m on ios if that makes a difference?

No audio
Yep mine does this occasionally. not for a while though, but it did it this week which coincides with a lot of rebooting issues I’ve been having too. mine has canton though, so always assumed it had something to do with that. i pulled the “amplifier” fuse and it fixed it last time. It’s a 40amp one bottom left.

Infotainment system switches itself on
So mine was supposed to be at the dealer for this tomorrow, but for some reason theres been a mix up and I have no appointment afterall. They're going to look in July. The problem is, unless its actively boot looping when they have it, or there is a fault code stored, then they wont do anything about it. Now mine has behaved itself since Tuesday, so I'm fearful it'll be fine when it goes in for them to look at. They said they wont accept videos or pictures as evidence of a fault either. Its pretty frustrating. It did occour to me that this happened last year, about the same time that software version 1941 was released, and now not long after 1969 is released, the same thing again. Maybe it has more to do with the servers at VW than the car itself, also odd that my problems stopped right after it reset all its preferences/user profile settings. Also that others on this forum started reporting it about the same time.... maybe nothing. Anyway, I'll sit tight until July, or the next spell of hot weather and I might see more of a pattern emerging.

Infotainment system switches itself on
Yup. Welcome, mine is well into this at the moment. It’s going to the dealer on Friday but I’m not optimistic for a quick resolution. today it was stable, but it did reset all my user settings over night. Which was nice. It did it so much over the weekend that i got a 12v low battery warning. I’ll update you if the dealer figures it out.
