  1. i cannot feel / see how the rear metal fuse connections are removed to replace the plastic carcus the fuses fit into my blower 40amp fuse was constantly needing to be pushed in when the blower stopped working .. then the fuse needed changing (not blown ) ending up with it melting the surrounding shroud ... ive bought a good second hand one with the various sized metal spade connectors still in but cant find a way to disconnect them and the rear pink inner that holds them wont come out either .... i feel ill need to change the old relay underneath the steering wheel all very strange and ive searched and searched i will go tomorrow morning and hope skida can advice but wandered if any fellows here could help trying to get the facts together before i let snyone near it cheers tom
  2. im not 'that' dedicated to perfection ... brilliant write up i tend to take a lateral 'heath robinson look at problems ... i bought a anker bank charger ... stuck it in a pouch with the leads and it charges as travelling alone and into glove box ... then any emergency ... out comes the bank and they get to charge at will
  3. thank you ... no stop start thankfully new 100 amp bosch battery ... garage puts drain around 0.6 amps
  4. thank you ... it seems i might have to go that route sadly .. love the car it started soon after having a new alternator belt and battery fitted still winder about the alternator diode but 500 squids to swop it over
  5. any more news on this subject ? i also now have a bad drain on my mk 2 vrs 2012 estate using a jump pack too often ... brand new battery 100 amp bosch no new equipment fitted but did originally have tow bar removed and all its wiring tucked up under back bodywork?
  6. opps not under the you tube vid i watched and replied to ... sorry pass along

  8. did anyone see this !!? read it all ... sheesh https://amp-theguardian-com.cdn.ampproject.org/c/s/amp.theguardian.com/business/2023/sep/06/cars-collect-extensive-personal-data-on-drivers-study-warns
  9. just looking thru' some interesting thoughts here then this question jumped i to my head would you be ok sitting in an EV whilst it was charging ... to not fear a flame moment ?
  10. agreed 100% toot .... planners /council jobs worth dont even go out to check road works were completed safely ... id back any move to get those apparently in charge to actually do just that ... spend a day understanding the hiccups wayfinding in every day life its not just signs and routes, its also seeing the real everyday life world with 'strangers eyes' tom
  11. are we also considering the lack of cash payments everywhere ... i certainly dont like the idea of a government being able to see everything you spend your money on ... far too big brother for me ...
  12. 9 years ago my then partner was a pilates instructor in blackheath london ... i sort of picked up how to's along the way ... ill write and draw some notes .. and post them every stretch and release whilst driving is a good thing ... i tend to sit bolt upright in my seat snd arms comfortably bent at 10 to 2 on the steering wheel ... make sure the head restraint is mostly behind your head but not touching ... the only down side to bolt upright is even with ling arms i'm that much closer to the airbag 'bang' moment (not nice) we all have to judge our capabilities 2 to 3 hrs sounds about right depending on attention span ... i keep myself busy with can i predict cars around me next moves before they know it ... i drive into space at all times when i can another subject all together
  13. ill drive long distances 300 miles non stop... traffic jams allowing .. in fact the m25 became my nemesis ... i just wanted to get back pass thru the m25 before i could relax .... just water drinking no food ... the older i got the easier it seemed to be able to do strangely ... settle in do core workout whilst driving ... lands end ... survey building ... back in car and home to east kent
  14. yup graham with you on those thoughts i like the grunt of a diesel and can just live with the mpg ... i do about 30k a year ...but can't afford an Ev for sure i have a motorbike too big to enjoy riding in central london but i go out to europe and beyond twice a year at least ... visits friends ... last trip a netherlands friend wanted to celebrate retiring so we ride to the swiss alps for a couple of weeks of hair pins my 1700cc twin 2003 just missed out on the ulez nox figure required ...so i got a yami conformity certificate to prove it was 0.01 inside the required values ... notified with photo of same on tfl website and a few days later i'm not on the charge list anymore sometimes wonder if cars can also find they are within bounds by getting a conformity certificate ...only one need be bought to start with, if it proves a particular model is good to go ... then yup tfl will want every vehicle to buy one to prove exemption (great for recycling paper ) but the savings soon add up my yamaha cert cost £70
  15. i just hate having to travel in london suburbs everywhere in a queue at 20 mph ... whilst powered cyclist have no speed limits and overtake when least expected ... even twickenham is 20 mph ... my work takes me into london sometimes ... i try to travel by train but maintaining london does require a fair amount of tools and equipment be carried somehow I certainly wont live their ever again
  16. so this info arrived today ... they are saying that only 10% of cars that dont meet the 2015 conformity barrier are on the roads today ? so only 10% are polluting the roads right up to the m25 boundary ... I'm so happy that pollution knows its place and doesn't wander off so only 10% of the cars are to pay £12.50 a day ?
  17. absolutely .. point taken 👍
  18. same identical here vrs diesel 2012 estate had battery / alternator and belts renewed and still after two days needs jump start ... garage friends state really small drain but where ? frayed wire ? it's like 0.06 drain so i bought a noco booster xl 1500amp jump starter and did some long miles but still needed the noco .. the battery just seemed low but both alternator snd battery register as ok so now bought noco 10 amp smart charger and hooked that up (neat plug in wires system permanent attach to battery) .. took 2.5 hrs to be fully charged and in maintenance mode and now seems better .. jump starter is now always with me ... if I dont need it ... still early days .. I might be able to quickly help someone that does the 1500 amps punches hard and fast .. instant start at least and it's fully fail safe even polarity and heat and charges 6v - 12v standard - 12v agm and lithium batteries dont need the clamp fixings now
  19. ill ask ...i think its an original 2019 maybe ?
  20. the tesla guarantee ? am i wrong i felt sure my neighbour said 5 years ... i thought 3 would be nearer ... can anyone confirm im texting nick (neighbour) now to get info from the horses mouth
  21. thanks for that info Graham ... i like the maths of decreasing weight ... my maths isn't up to that im sorry to admit oh to add ... cereals .. i'm a frosties and cold whole milk kinda guy forever now it seems
  22. hi toot .. that's much better news sorry i read that wrongly ... ill edit that i was going to take the time to read the 30 odd pages prior to breakfast preferences so ill do that now i've purchased a noco boost xl jump start kit and the battery charging kit that shares 'plug in' on battery ... as i have a small 'drain' to find and the battery / start has gone in a few days .. i have a new battery / belts and Alternator fitted recently where should i post that info ?
  23. toot ... sorry to hear about your health issues ... i admire your knowledge you know that ... and thank you for day i arrived here tom ba
  24. what i know about EV's a neighbour retired founding environmental journalist of the independent ... decided to buy a tesla when they arrived ... yup now has drive charging unit ... we were travelling together recently and he told me he had needed a new tyre on the hurry up ... didn't get any discount so it cost £300 !! ... shocked as i multiplied by 4 wtf ... well it's an acoustic tyre he added and what does that do ... runs quieter .. the car is already quiet but tyre/road noise interferes with that hence acoustic ones so on our return i went up to my buddies at AAK here (used to run there h&s and debt stuff) ... laure .. acoustic tyres ! what makes them cost 300 squids ? tom over here ... he had gone to a bin area and pulled out a lump of condensed black foam (yup magjc moment) this feel it is stuck inside the tyre it takes up air space ... over here .. bangs plasterboard stud wall see noisy lots of air in it ... over here ... bangs solid brick wall ... less air less noise ... thats what the foam stuck inside the tyre does ... less air space less noise ... ok I've been learning this crazy stuff from him for years also did you read the structural engineers society in the UK have researched 1960's to 1970's car parks and warned they will not take being full of over weight EV's ... probably collapse ... just a matter of how soon huge climb in micro tyre rubber elements in the air excessively now entirely from truck weight EV's shredding there tyres on tarmac and we have all seen fire man stand back and watch EV fire's burning intensely by the road side and removing EV's from a motorway can only be via transporter trucks they can't be towed all in all add the cost of those batteries after 5 yes max and the chemical footprint of the lithium iron ... and diesels dont look quite so bad overall
