  1. do they do up to 2012 octavia 2 ? ,,,couldn't see it thank you
  2. need to see the service invoices and the service book from new ...otherwise things didn't happen some biggish bills like cam belt and waterpump every 4 yars on some and if automatic [wet plates] when the ddg oil and filter were changed
  3. hi all - i had my cam belt renewed beginning of the week at 117k ... my garage buy the full kit ... good Gates belt [which we use on our 1700cc bikes drive here] the kit also includes tensioner and water-pump ...i had read here that these 'add on' pumps can be cheap and useless ...considering it's involved in a few hrs of fitting.. i had the oem skoda pump fitted ...all good ... local driving for a day ...then yesterday set for a 100 mile journey around the m25 and 10 miles out the dreaded coolant red symbol appeared with an awful warning screaming noise [not to be ignored] ... i pulled over covered the coolant chamber cap and unscrewed with plastic bag over glove ...looked in and the 'ball' was near empty ... [ok i thought the worst of the fitter] anyway asked at the garage if i could fill up my two water flasks [one is the hounds] and they gladly did so ...brought the chamber up to the overflow point closed up and drove off ...[thinking i'll sort the anti freeze that should have gone in later] ... note- i could see the alarms two bare wire arms visibly at empty but only another 10 miles up the road off went the alarm !! ... narrow emergency lane on two lane motorway M2 couldn't hear myself think let alone the recovery company AA for nationwide ...who i did hear say 3 hrs to wait ! ... so refilled chamber ... it was just 25 mm [one inch] down and then limped back to the garage [with one more refill] to be told the water-pump is bad .... ouch next morning a whole new set had been fitted and it was the seal on the water-pump that was leaking fluid ... new pump all good now dodgy seal is very rare but of course does happen hope this tale helps perhaps tomba
  4. well i'd interested in how to obtain the bolero radio code in octavia ... just in case i understand there are situations like a battery disconnect sequence that can cause the unit to request the code and its mostly ok stored in the unit ... all a bit mystical certainly not seen a lot of code requests here
  5. i'm at 117k .. 2012 Vrs TDI 2.0 125w estate - i had a load of service invoices and the service book ... but i missed the DSG oil and filter ... and cam belt and tensioner moments ... i have a trusted garage i worked at .. so that was 200 and 500 for those done properly .. they fitted a gates cam belt ...we use them ..S&S gates kevlar drive belts on 1700cc motorcycles for 25k easily but yes as toot highlights check this stuff ..i paid 5800 for mine oh and get the radio code of the owner and last used oil type used helps to add ... tosay the mechanics insisted i didn't worry about mileage on a skoda diesel 2 litre ... 'nothing smaller than 2 litre'
  6. so my original skoda service schedule intervals book states ... in addition every 180,000 kms (111,846 miles) ... replace toothed belt and tensioner (diesel engines TDI CR - Common Rail for engine codes CEGA (mine) and CBDB and CBBB thatgot skipped by original owner ! looking at 500 here in kent ... now el pronto
  7. it's the future reporting ... the year nearly is 2023 ... yup and octavia vrs tdi cr 140 estate cars are still thriving so my original skoda service schedule intervals book states ... in addition every 180,000 kms (111,846 miles) ... replace toothed belt and tensioner (diesel engines TDI CR - Common Rail for engine codes CEGA (mine) and CBDB and CBBB that got skipped by original owner ! just replaced at 117,000 miles the DSG 6 speed 02E oil and filter ... as last record before i bought it was 50k miles !! 10.06.16 ... lucky i had the service book given to me and promptly sorted that out ... its around £200 inc vat now to get the cam belt done el pronto could be looking at 500 inc pump belt i love this car
  8. my over the top 23R6 paperwork from 2017 ... front and back
  9. thanks JR ... honestly not offended .. i like banter now trying to find out when the last dsg oil change milage was made .. i'll ring the garage the original owner used and hope they did it ... now at 118 k miles ... 130k would hopefully be it's 3rd change with filter i believe
  10. oh now i get it ...doh ... newbie error and thank you for the update ... i feel better already ..well sort of just not one of the 500 ...sad face and made me chuckle ....'normal vRS' ... doesn't feel it in the cockpit the estate is a bit of a wolf in sheep's clothing ... i certainly don't get tailgated for long ... the badge says it all
  11. so i excited checked my seat to see what number my Vrs is to find ..... nothing! 💔... [just a small airbag tag in black] ... checked all seats ...they have Vrs stitched into the back of the seat so all i can say is number? - TDI Vrs 2012 estate bought october with 116k miles in Sittingbourne privately [had been in the family mostly just members of family name changes on V5] now happily down the coast near faversham
  12. fascinating stuff you learn here ... i'm a proud owner newbie of 2 months ... bought privately an estate vrs TDI 2012 140 kw with DSG auto DQ250 6 speed wet plates i've found out... learnt from Toot (a real star here on the forum) i'll check my seat number in the morning and post back here ... just reserving my spot 👍 tom
  13. last entry 2018 but i'm adding my 2012 octavia TDI vrs 2.0 140kw estate had this update in 2017 ... i noted a previous entry here that a vrs came out the other side of this possible nightmare ok and thankfully it seems mine as well previous owner kept the paperwork ... which plays down the Nox update and goes over the top about skoda trust ... to the point i was concerned about it i'll attach the paperwork here tomorrow for others not so lucky ... i feel like i just got real lucky however i am concerned for the others not so lucky hence me reading this thread tom (promomast)
  14. ill go for number 1 🤣
  15. toot ... thank you ... i know have all the info on the DQ250 ... so many possible numbers for this stuff very kind of you ... i smile when i see your forum name ... sweet memories my mum was a christina (scottish lass thru and thru) yet her brothers all 3 called her toots ... and when asked why they just smiled and shrugged there shoulders only they could call her toots hope i can help here a little as i settle in i'm hot on criminal law ... and pretty good on common law ... now particularly on the consumer act did you know you can get a bank 'charge back' on debit cards as well as credit card payments that have gone 'sparrows' up i eventually got my long overdue full refund ... after returning the 1st car ... dont have to give any reason for the return and must be refunded in 14 days max ...after 30 days i had logged a charge back as the dealers were saying refund at 33 days ... then i suddenly got paid... i rang the bank to say i'm ok and was told they had closed the case an hour back ... asked why he said ... oh we ring them and did so this morning ... we asked when as we were due to pay you today ... they said shortly ... we say well we will pay him and your credit will be zero with all banks under the scheme and that will be recorded until you have honoured the debt ... they paid me within 15 mins of the bank call ! ... shows the power of banks over dodgy dealers cheers
  16. ok i now know from the haynes autofix on-line only manual
  17. i originally bought from a scoundrel AA promise dealer in essex an 09 l&k 1.9 petrol octavia with 70k miles on it (had all the mot certificates) ... and when i drove it away i noticed the dsg gear selector number with a D in front showing on the dash was flashing ... i thought all the 65 miles home 'i need to check that' ... that had the dsg7 gears i parked up on my drive that afternoon and next morning went to drive when it wouldn't start and a horrible number of impossible issues flashed up on the dash ... called the AA out ... i knew Richard our local guy he tested the battery straight off ... dead ... in fact he said that is the most dead battery i've come across ... they charged that up just to get rid of you.... he checked the alternator ... it was charging fine richard went to start the car with new £150 battery he had on board it started straight off ... no issues flashed up but he noticed the P was flashing on the dash ... best get that looked at that's not right i used to work part time at a local great family run independent nearbye and off i went ... the guys got underneath and found it should not have passed an mot and put the computer on to check the dsg and it came up dry clutch plates very thin so that had the car going back ... another story why i say all this is i then bought privately an estate vrs tdi cr 12 plate 110k miles checked by the crew again this also has dsg and it's good still ... drives really well with padels as well with the dsg6 box so i heard at some point the dsg dry twin clutch plates were given 'oil' to run in ? when did that happen and can i tell if my 12 plate has them ? the oil plates are apparently more reliable any thoughts please tom
  18. good morning ... on a small less trodden island in the cyclades ... sorry i missed your reply ... they did a full reset ... it stopped the gear indicator light flashing ... all show steady now .. buying time ... so tempting thank you much appreciated tom
  19. strangely ... when the garage my friends cleared down the data ... and reset it after gleening info to suggest clutch plates not in best shape and deciding no point in changing thecoil to see if that helped any since then the gear indictor numbers are not flashing ever ... even after a 5 min warm up ... 2 days running and i wouldnt know i had an issue id love to think its all that was needed .for awhile at least ... ive arranged to return the car to the deal any thoughts appreciated
  20. nice post ... good knowledge ... thank you the last part is fascinating dont have what you had before installed
  21. hiya ... yes 1.8 petrol tsi hatchback with rather nice l&k interior ... oddly since my garage reset the dsg 7 on mine ... the gear number indicator d1to d7 has stopped flashing ... but they reset the reader and it came up basically as the 2 clutches plates are thinning ... how long will they be ok is the problem ... they can get the mechatronic for 350 as an exchange part they were thinking of changing the oil but after the read out ... they didn't look happy for me i used the 3000k pounds from a post above that started this ... yes my guys said all sorts of extras and you never knows could be a nightmare ... the head of knowledge who has retired so one of sons runs it really well said that VW had problems in the early years and really only got it all together by 2014 !! ... sheesh know the gear indicator is not flashing i realise i could have happily not known any of this information but those around know i've got let the car go and the dealer has agreed you should be able to trust even a second hand gearbox ... looks like its manual for me again 😞 i really like driving the auto so im out of sorts with all of this to be honest thanks tom oh thanks to everyone who took the time to share knowledge i am having another skoda octavia ill probably look for a 2 litre if i cant find the tsi 1.8 petrol have you seen the news today electricity charges are going to make long distance electric car driving twice as expensive as a petrol car to run !
  22. just say i started my enquiries on this subject by ringing CAL at Denton they had closed that day but the very next morning Sally called me ... Tom your a long way from us ... and kindly so kindly took the time to text the no. of vantronic in hayes who distribute the parts to be given the number of a local specialist ive had my skoda on the computer now ... its the two friction clutch discs worn thin ... at 74k miles (petrol 1.8 tsi ) ! ... car going back to dealer ... done deal otherwise 3k to fix !!!
  23. thank you ... yes ill go to my local garage i worked for for 3 years and talk it over with them ... and consider other reasons . .. i like the car but i think it needs to be returned on there in the limited one month warranty it had other issues to this one ... id not expect anyone to have caught up with this issue hells teeth a flashing gear number means expensive not even a change of colour ... not good on skoda / vw mark ... looks like as said on another blog another VWgate moment arriving tom
  24. hi raphael ... how did this work out for you i also have the blink of death it seems but the earlier megatronic fix seems a way to go
