thanks for the info ... motorcycle bulbs are sooooo much easier ... even the led units on my beast ... yamaha xv1700 warrior ... not too many in the uk

high pitched single note when i put the key in the ignition !
weirdly i changed key ... it initially made the high pitched sound but after the first drive with it ... nothing back to normal !!? don't you just hate these sort of things happening

so today ... using my carried skoda key pressed unlock sat into the car 2012 vrs estate and inserted key .. immediately a high pitched single note started ... quite shrill .. i started the car and moved off snd it continued ... occasionally for no apparent reason going quieter then back full song ... pushed and pulled everything to hand drove 4 miles til i parked and still singjng at me ... wtf ... stopped still singing took key out and still sang ... what the ... almost seemed to be remote key itself ... left the car came back put the key back in and off the singing started but thus time it died away got home collected second key and it did the same but this time after juggling the key in the ignition it disappeared so any thoughts gurus ... is it some sort of warning signal ... battery in keys? both unlikely as i renewed them a few months back something in the ignition itself ? never ever heard the like before tom

i feel it's too specific ... but dont want to incur a bill from a main skoda dealer to find out ... i can live with it as it becomes a habit but feel sure it wasn't this hard last year

it's a phaff for sure ... i carefully re read handbook ... it has an order reverse into space say foot on brake ... put it into P then handbrake on then foot off brake i can then feel the key being released ... just works

yup one of my blades has done exactly that i can turn it to look tight but if i use the wheel it falls over again

try in mpd mode choosing in windows section ticking none ... it sounds great being able to open windows with the fob but like others i found it had a life of it's own in my pocket ... this morning woke up to find all the windows open ... so decided to csncel that option for now

found a cheaper handle on ebay .. says genuine looks right shape ... half the price or less on ebay than skoda part and the trim clips shown are the same as behind back panel on mine

so i have a new pull handle ... paid 35 cash and mechanic helped pull tailgate trim panel out ... found plastic block and star screw dropped down inside ... 2012 version angled same but has ball shape at pull end mother f'cker panel to put back ..the metal clips are held in flimsy plastic seat and too easy to bend them over not to refit properly we managed but took on / off and felt like we'd break another one each time there was already a small crack tear at the bottom i'm glueing together today but overall pleased to have the grab handle but you can only pull it down so far before removing hand to then gets fingers dirty finishing closing it shut ... i can see why folk like auto closers but just something else to go wrong keeping the hinges and lock catch well lubricated makes it smoother ... i use mine a lot ... have all my 'site' kit in the back when in the road ill find the part no. for mine and post up

thanks vroom ... i'll store this info in my back sleeve of my haynes manual ... not very a proof read manual ... as for the fuse layouts they show ... nothing like the real thing ... glove box go to 12.8 ... there is no 12.8 ! worst ... the phrase see illustration but no illustration number so out of say 10 illustrations on a double page spread you guess which they are referring to (literally) and they use different words to those under the illustration ... just as well I'm a useless car mechanic ... oddly great on motorcycles but hopeless on cars ... use the manual to learn the fuse layouts and keep some spares handy

Coolant temp spike after waterpump replacement
so ... just a highlight ... i didn't check the coolant tank level for 6 days after have ghe waterpump changed a second time (story here) ... and the level warning light came on again ... freaked me out ... it had dropped to where another 500ml went in to level it it is necessary when anything waterpump related to keep an eye on the level ... just be aware to not open it slowly covered plus a glove on if engine hot ... cools down fast enough to wait ... and being pink means it has added anti freeze in it
