  1. My 2022 Scala has the same problem. The dealer picked it up at the 2 year service. They will replace the whole fitting under warranty.
  2. Oh sorry to hear that. I did find the box quite stiff until I had covered about 5k miles and then it suddenly settled down. As your car has been examined by a Skoda dealer I don’t imagine the linkage needs a squirt of lubricant, or does it? I agree with your comment that the box will decide if it’s going to change gear smoothly or not. John
  3. I have a 22 plate Scala with the 1.5TSI engine and manual box. I assume that is the same engine and box as your Octavia. I find the box is very smooth, almost one finger operation but the 1st/2nd transition is slightly stiffer than the others. You say you 'push the gear selector to the left and then down'. Did you really mean push because that implies a degree of force. I find the box needs to be gently 'stroked' (for want of a better term) into the required gear. If I was going from 1st to 2nd (and that usually is somewhere about 2000 -3000 rpm) then I would merely push the clutch down and slide the gear selector down into second without holding it to the left. It should find its own way into gear. John
  4. It’s a difficult thing to suggest what to do next. The change of noise with engine temperature does suggest the chain/ tensioner shifting somehow or maybe the oil level is wrong or the oil flow is blocked. But that is unlikely to be affected by the direction the car is moving in. The turning right thing does suggest suspension/ drive train/ mounts/ wheel bearings etc. I’m afraid I can’t help any further but it will be interesting to know what the problem is. John
  5. I missed the bit about turning right. Have you got a loose engine mount or similar? I don’t see how that would affect the engine timing.
  6. The difference is a factor of 2 (to the second decimal place). Either the vcds has got its binary sums wrong or you really have done something silly in setting it up. Probably doesn’t help much but it might.
  7. Have you tried cleaning the sensor front ? That’s what Škoda advise in my Scala manual
  8. I've had that happen on my Scala, fortunately not as severe as to slam the brakes on but enough to put up 'your going to die' message. It went away (and has not reappeared) after I thoroughly cleaned the front of the square sensor thing in the middle of the grille and poked my fingers behind it enough to remove bits of spiders web and stuff. John
  9. Speed Adjust and Speed Limit are different functions on his car - see the picture.
  10. It looks the same as my Scala, if so it's basic cruise control. The top slider thingy on the LH stalk toggles it off/on.
  11. I bought a set of Škoda rubber mats (including one for the boot) for the Scala. Very effective they are too!
  12. It looks like the door seal is damaged, can’t say anything useful about the brown surface underneath. Contact the seller, hopefully a responsible dealer, and say you want it sorted or it will be rejected.
  13. That's good. Also the damage wasn't personal in that it was caused by a piece of scum after a few quid to buy the next fix....... BTW what gearbox do you have - mine is manual and I like it. The Scala could be a perfect speed ticket magnet if you let it be so watch out!
  14. Sorry to see that. However don’t let some moron spoil the car. I’ve had mine for just over a year and I love it,
  15. I have not been able to use maps from my iPhone via Bluetooth on my SE. Personally I wouldn’t worry about overcharging the iPhone via the car. The car only supplies power, the iPhone regulates the charging so it should not overcharge.
  16. Not experienced that. The selector did take three to four thousand miles to free up though. Doubt if it’s anything major.
  17. Not found it a problem. The arm rest thing is though if it is down and forward!
  18. That looks very impressive, puts me to 😳
  19. Hopefully the rain held off this time for you!
  20. I have the 1.5 manual SE trim on 16 inch wheels. I find the gearbox is a delight, almost one finger operation and the car is smooth, easy to drive (very quick if you want it to be), comfortable and easy to maneuver into tight spaces etc. I am not into bells and whistles hence the SE spec and I use an iPhone and google maps. Niggles - well the front seat doesn't fully recline which makes getting long stuff into the car a bit of a pain and that's about it. Oh the engine is so quiet and smooth its is very easy to find oneself at 10 mph going around a tight roundabout etc. in 5th or 6th gear..... needless to say the engine coughs and stalls when you put the accelerator down to speed up. As long as the engine revs remain above 1500 in the higher gears its absolutely fine. Ride can be a bit bumpy and noisy depending on the surface but the 16 inch wheels are definitely a softer ride than the alternatives - I found the Monte Carlo version which I drove as a test drive quite harsh at times. John
  21. This happens to my Scala as it has on the last few Vauxhalls I had with rear disc brakes, usually after heavy rain or a car wash as has been said. Not a real problem, just annoying. If the car is a manual and it really irritates you and the drive is level you could leave the car in gear with the handbrake off.
  22. I have not had the brakes applied, but the crash sensor thing (can't member Skoda's name for it) has erroneously flashed up 'you are about to crash' symbol twice, a month or so ago, followed by 'front assist sensor temporarily unavailable' and a orange warning triangle. It was cleared up by me cleaning the rectangular bit in the centre of the front grill that the radar sensor sits behind. I also dislodged a few bits of crud behind it. Not had the problem since. I think you can disable the system via the steering wheel buttons, at least I can on the more limited SE version.
  23. Mine went from top of hatched area on the dipstick when brand new to halfway down after 6000 miles (one year). Its now had its one year service and back to the top - measured with the engine cold.
  24. Probably all three. On my car the fuel economy was good from the start (not many serious hills around here) but the engine and box didn't really free up until I had a couple of thousand on the clock. Now the weather is colder its definitely using more fuel than it did during the summer (heater, de-icing, more lights etc).
