  1. Came out this morning to pop to the local shops and the ABS light went out as soon as I drove off! I suspect a dodgy connector as usually, if a solid-state electronic device (sensor) fails, that's it. If I was able I would get under the car with my tin of Servisol, split the connectors and give them a good spray.
  2. Just a quick question. Since buying the car, I have had a problem, where the ABS light occasionally comes on. It has always reset when I turned the ignition off and back on but today it came on and stayed on. I have VCDS Lite on my laptop so I was going to have a go to see if it will narrow down the problem (I would suspect a sensor or sensor connection). Is there a particular protocol for connecting the laptop to the OBD port? Ignition on. ignition off, battery disconnected, fingers and toes crossed or is it not an issue?
  3. An OBD II reader should show water temp. It might be worth getting a cheap one. https://www.amazon.co.uk/MOTOPOWER-MP69033-Universal-Diagnostic-Protocol/dp/B07Z3HB7DR/ref=sr_1_1_sspa?dib=eyJ2IjoiMSJ9.-RvKYqyEHbsL7qn4LBPvNkcvTKTaFoHfmoDGarlX0Jgownq001Y4vg2QnTzRBNuA8uEJSxA09XlUU63ONNeV8-kwfF6g5HK6GUmMwmVz4exbdxJWyxO5WTWjj5-khkt2KStiJ9nlbHeaUackNZg8j51LISxWteyGrfM4qSfBkjbQNiMsiDc9gCxw5oBxAhYBBlThucD1nvAyIHdFf-paDu057YDiSQrAsyWHBEL1d0PJACD2hMvUwSSYTKDij4DDCeFNexJXt5z6KorpzT9Y0X_oc7YP7TCsVw9msDiZS7g.kR6f59ZysTcI--IZYfifeUvo14tmwJIEXqY5j3xTN-I&dib_tag=se&keywords=vw+diagnostic+tool&qid=1726045925&sr=8-1-spons&sp_csd=d2lkZ2V0TmFtZT1zcF9hdGY&psc=1
  4. Does your temperature gauge indicate overheating?
  5. I would suspect a slight oil leak onto the exhaust. It burns off immediately hence the smoke and the smell but apart from a dark stain on the exhaust nothing to see. Check carefully just above the exhaust.
  6. That was probably the spare key. Someone probably lost the fob key previously (and was charged for it).
  7. That is what is in the rearmost part. As I said, a case for glasses is included in the high-spec model. https://www.prestigemotorservices.co.uk/skoda-fabia-5j-front-interior-movement-sensor-and-trim-pearl-grey-1z0877829b-item-345167.html
  8. Now that I have a look at your photo again it appears that yours is just a blank. I have the Elegance and it is fitted there.
  9. It is a case to hold your glasses. Push on the horizontal raised line and it opens.
  10. Just the same as you did when you reconnected today.
  11. There are flaps behind the rear lights to stop water from getting in. This is the usual source of leaks at the back end. You must remove the rear bumper and the rear lights to get at them. There is a lot about the problem here.
  12. Your video doesn't work. It just says "No video with supported format and MIME type found."
  13. From my manual. Switch off the interior monitor and towing protection monitoring – Switch off the ignition. – Press the button  on the driver door ⇒ fig. 42. – Lock the vehicle within 30 seconds. The interior monitor and the towing protection monitoring are switched off. The interior monitor and the towing protection monitoring • You can also switch off the interior monitor and the towing protection monitoring, by deactivating the safe securing system ⇒ page 40. • When the ignition key is removed or a door is opened, the symbol in the button lights up red. • Lighting up of the symbol in the button does not confirm that the interior monitor and the towing protection monitoring are switched on.
  14. Mine does the same. Someone else here had this problem and after a bit of investigation, the garage told them it was the steering pump and not an issue. It cheered me up.
  15. Did you use a system like VCDS or just a standard OBDII reader? An OBDII reader will not pick up ABS faults.
  16. Check the full length of the exhaust to make sure it is clear of the body, ideally with someone of similar weight to yourself sitting in the driver's seat.
  17. Did you measure these voltages with the ignition on? Did you remove the fuel pump fuse before you measured the voltage?
  18. I had considered that option as well. We used that system on safety-related interlocks.
  19. It could all be connected (or disconnected more like 🙂 ).
  20. You say you have checked the wiring in the door, but have you checked the wiring to the plugs on the A-pillar? That sounds like classic Fabia issue.
  21. That's a pity. My Climatronic has error codes that tell you if the gas pressure is wrong.
  22. Is it a manual AC or Climatronic?
