Fabia MK 2 power steering top-up.
I have never needed to top up PAS fluid on any car I have owned. Still check it regularly. Do you have a leak?

Car failed its MOT.
The MOT tester said it was becoming increasingly common for broken springs, on all marques, due to potholes and speed bumps. Something he seldom saw when he first joined the garage trade.

Skoda Fabia mk2 1.2htp 2009 need ideas
I've changed an engine with nothing but a thick rope round the shoulders and standing on the front wings (ended up dented) and an assistant to shove mounting bolts in. Mind you it was only an engine, no transmission, on a rear drive Ford. Would never do it like that again.

Stop start woes
Stop Start systems are notorious in that they need everything perfect before they work, certainly in Honda, which I owned before my Skoda. Outside temperature affects them as does the battery voltage and what you have running (heated seats /demister etc). Someone will probably be along with more VAG specific information but I certainly wouldn't be worried it it was my car, which thankfully does not have Stop Start.

Fabia MkII headlight types
Some LED lamps have very poor performance and others are excellent. That may well have been the issue. If the LED light source is not exactly in the right position in the manufactured lamp (not in the OEM unit) they perform very badly.

Car failed its MOT.
Yes. I have gone from 16,000 miles a year two years ago to 1,200 miles a year. It is hard to justify owning a car!

Car failed its MOT.
Despite having only done 1200 miles since its last test my car failed its MOT today with a broken rear spring. The bottom end was nipped off. It needed two new front springs a year ago so that will be the whole set replaced. The front tyres are showing signs of perishing so despite having about 6 mm of tread left I am replacing them as well. The car has done so few miles (70,400) but the tyres are probably years old.

Fabia MkII headlight types
I have a 2009 Elegance and has lights similar to the red one. It has one bulb and a mechanical shutter to switch between high and low beam. For light intensity think candle in wet paper bag.

Fabia mk 2 1.6tdi Elegance Climatronic blower fan not working HELP PLEASE
The fan can be replaced without stripping the dash out, according to the guy that changed mine. It is a bit of a guddle, working from the footwell, but it is easier than tearing the dash to bits as per Haynes.

Fabia mk 2 1.6tdi Elegance Climatronic blower fan not working HELP PLEASE
There is a fan and there should also be a resistor pack. My 2009 with Climatronic has both. When the resistor pack goes the fan usually still works on full speed. Mine stopped working altogether and it turned out to be the fan motor itself. Car dealer fitted a new one under their warranty.

Wing Mirrors not Heating
Possibly a broken wire in the door loom.

Issues with the daylight driving lights
The discrepancy in the manual is probably due to the fact that cars sold to countries where these lights are mandatory and to switch them off would be illegal will have them hardwired and the switch removed. I have the switch here in the UK but do not have the lights activated. Your problem sounds relay related to me.

Fabia 2 Headlights not working.
Suspect the dip/main beam/indicator switch is the problem.

Door lock motor broken
I would remove the door card and check inside the door first. I believe there is a cable that connects the handle to the mechanism (mine rattles against the inside of the passenger door) which may have snapped or detached.

"Girning" at tick over.
Girning. SCOTTISH•NORTHERN ENGLISH complain peevishly. That is why I qualified it by saying "a grumble/rumble".
-
"Girning" at tick over.
What I mean is, it is obviously well noticeable. As a driver you listen to your car and are aware of little noises, however a lay passenger, like my wife, never notices anything unless it smacks her in the face.

"Girning" at tick over.
I have a 2009 1.4 16V (BXW engine). It as done 70,000 miles. It has a "Girning" sound at tick over, which disappears with any increase in revs. It only starts once the engine warms up. It is a grumble/rumble and what worries me is my wife, who is not a driver and totally not mechanically minded, said to me today, "That doesn't sound very healthy". It makes the noise irrespective of clutch up or down so it appears to be engine related. The car had a new set of timing belts fitted, by a main dealer, at 26,500 miles but I have no history since. Any idea what it is likely to be and should I be worried about it? Being disabled I am unable to do any work on the car myself.

I would check for water in one of the lamp clusters.

Fabia Mk2 1.2 HTP - Uneven idle / occasional difficulty starting / running rich
If the oil improves thing, that points to rings/bore. If it doesn't, then valves are suspect.

DSG DQ200 Flashing Gear and Spanner indicator
I had automatics for 25 years but always conventional hydraulic transmissions (Vauxhall Carlton, Vauxhall Cavalier and a Volvo S40). Over several hundred thousand miles I only had one issue. A carburettor issue with the Carlton was letting petrol down into the modulator valve for gear changing and the seal perished and ended up sucking the transmission fluid out of the gearbox. A quick call to a transmission specialist diagnosed the issue and he supplied a new valve for very little money. I replaced it myself, topped up the transmission fluid and with the new carburettor fitted (from a breakers) was on my way for many more effortless miles. I would love another automatic but would never consider a DSG or a CVT.
