I installed the firmware and didn’t loose the maps I already had

if anyone searched/finds this post we (by we I mean SJFISHER67) fixed this using VCDS. I think the bit that fixed it was: 920 941 M,channel IDE01153-SIA: maximum value of distance to service, adapted from,0 km,to,15000 km Setting oil quality would change the days from 1-year to 2-years but would not do the miles. Worth noting my car had Variable Service from the factory but suspect someone has reset it either via the trip button method, or some proprietary tools, OBDii app, or some-such. Hopefully next year (or 9,400 miles) later it will reset ok using the trip button. Thanks again to SJFisher67 for sorting this!

I got a dvd for mine like the link below and it corrected the logo issue and been perfect since. Sounds like a bearing. Whether it’s input shaft, output or internal to the box is another matter ☹️

You could also try a reset. Iirc it’s press and hold the arrows and the mic buttons by the cd slot

still having the same situation - any one work out why the miles will not reset to 10,000 but stays on 0? the days count down but I get the service Ping every single time I turn on the ignition!

Old topic but my folding mirrors stopped working today but was linked to drivers window needing limits reset. One done both convenience open/close and mirror folding work again 👍👍

Just had the control module software update re front indicator potentially not flashing (it’s mentioned on dvla website too) but only because they wouldn’t do the DSG service unless I agreed. The reset worked perfectly and the convenience close/up works! Thank you. Interesting enough it stopped the folding mirrors from folding - don’t know why but work again now so double thanks 😊

Mines jumped from £340 to £450 to 33% increase - funny though as I dont recall my salary going up that much!! LOL Trouble is I cannot find it cheap online (Go Compare/Compare the market are all around £550 or more) and Adrian Flux use Highway as the underwriter and they absolutely slated re paying claim and like 1* on Trust Pilot and I recall years back with motorcycle insurance they would weasel out of paying out in full. So 33% hike it is and stay with Hastings....

The marking with Mit Silika is on the upper 1/2 and would be visible so if it’s not there you’re ok. As mentioned above it’s only mk3 onwards it seems. I had concerns too!

Is there a max size for sd card? I’ve 128gb one brand new out the box, copied unzipped files on to it and put it in the slot and get “sd card Error. Check sd card”. Genuine Kingston card so not cheapy one either. On my laptop the folders and files look fine. I've tried it formatted as FAT32 and NTFS (took forever to do!) but get the same error...

that instruction seems to be for "This Update is intended only to be used with the PIDs (Portable System - Garmin unit)" and does not cover Columbus units - the last maps to update on Columbus is around 32Gb so a 4Gb card isn't going to cut it! Think we are talking at cross purposes here, its the actual maps I'm looking to update

I use Optimate charges on my bikes, and you can pick up and Optimate 1 for £30-£40 but not sure it suitable for car batteries but cant see why not, it would just take a lot longer to charge a relatively flat battery, and they can recover almost flat batteries too (actually a smart smart charger). Aldi/Lidl do ones to for less than £20 and have a car battery on constant trickle charge and it does seem to keep it charged. Dont know about the ctek/ring options but hth.

Oil temp goes up with water but lags a bit behind so as it warms up say the water is 65c the oil will be 55c or 60c. At 90c the oil is around the 89/90c too depending on driving. The oil temp does not overtake the water reading so doubt its the CTS or the dash could read 65c for example but the oil could be up to 80/90c. Also the interior heater is colder when its not warming up compared to when its at full temperature which you'd expect if the engine's not hot so it seem the gauge reads right, its just weird that turning it off and back on even for a few seconds means it then heats up as it should, and if the ambient temperature it 7c or above its ok, but when its really cold of a morning its doing the weird non-heating up thing!!?! If the thermostat was sticking open then I would not expect to see it warm up at all really when it was -2c out but it did to 65/70c and the on/off fix worked, and that wouldn't cause the thermostat to un-stick so I'd like to rule the stat out too. Its got new water pump which made no difference; system was bled before and after with no change (but didn't expect there to be to be honest). Two things: i) I read somewhere about the engine oil cooler having one of the same stats as the DSG gearbox but only read that on 1 thread and no where else so not sure if its true and certainly cannot see one anywhere. ii) there is an electric water pump in the system; is it possible that is running when it shouldn't, or not running when it should and if that is the case what effect would it have? I am not sure exactly what the electric pump is for...... My 5-series had one but it just circulated hot water to the interior heater so you can keep water without the engine running.
