  1. Hi, got a warning light for a lighting issue yesterday, all the bulbs checked out OK, but the headlight self levelling doesn't work and the headlights are stuck on their lowest setting making night time driving impossible. I have the following codes: 01537 Vehicle level supply voltage. Implausible signal. 00496 Vehicle Levelling Front, open or short circuit 00497 Vehicle Levelling Rear, open or short circuit. The car has Xenons and levelling sensors front and rear. I don't know for example if the power for the sensors is mounted in series and I have one failed sensor? Any ideas on where to go with this greatly appreciated.
  2. I have a 2010 Superb Elegance, with electric heated memory seats. The driver's seat heating doesn't work due to failed heating elements and with new elements not currently available I've sourced a replacement seat with working heaters. My question is whether any coding is required when fitting the replacement secondhand seat, or is it just a case of plugging it in?
  3. OK, been there, done that now. The engine swap was straightforward, the DSG didn't pose any additional problems except that the spigot bearing had broken and it was quite difficult to remove the old one. Been driving the car about a month and no issues. The purchase price of the car, secondhand engine, service kit and cam belt kit add up to a total of about 50% of what We Buy Any Car have offered for the car.
  4. Another project car, bought with a blown engine, previous owner continued driving with the oil light flashing at them and seized the engine. Replacement engine being delivered tomorrow, comes with all the ancillaries and I've seen it running in the donor vehicle. I'll do all the usual things like the cam belt/water pump and I'll remove the sump on the new engine to check the pick up pipe plus full service of course. I've done many engine swaps before but never on this VAG platform, due to my advanced years I'll be doing it over a few days. Looks easiest to remove the front panel, is there anything I need to watch out for, anything I need to do with the DSG box?
  5. I want to check the seat heating elements in my 2010 Superb 2 Elegance. Can anyone tell me which plugs/wires on the bottom of the seat I need to check for continuity? My local Skoda agent tells me the elements are currently on back order because they are manufactured in the Ukraine.
  6. The windscreen bonding can indeed fail, or be poorly installed. Just a thought, does your car have a sunroof? Blocked drains can lead to the channel around the sunroof roof getting flooded and coming out above the windscreen. Seen this on other VAG cars.
  7. Still having issues with this. Anyone been here before, are there any specific circuits that are known to cause this problem on the Superb 2?
  8. I ran a scan with VCDS, I am in no way proficient with VCDS, I just use it to scan for faults. Two codes came up, not sure if these could be the cause of the battery drain? There is a receipt for a replacement Columbus headunit in the history file, I believe this was a like-for-like swap but no idea if it either needed coding or was coded?
  9. I put the original seat back in and I still have the same problem. Next step is to run a scan with VCDS to see if anything comes up.
  10. It’s a new battery that was fine before I changed the seat. Easiest option seems to be to put things back as they were before the problem arose, it’s 20 minutes to change the seat. If I take a measurement it will show a drain and the first step will be to replace the seat anyway!
  11. Ok I’ll replace the elements in the original seat, refit it and see what happens?
  12. Ok that makes some sense. Both the old and new seats were electric/heated so I didn’t expect an issue. so if I re install the old seat would it come back to normal? I can replace the heating elements in the old seat and put it back it, that was part of my plan anyway. Or could I take the module out of the old seat and put it in the new one?
  13. You can just ask the local Skoda parts department for the part number.
  14. I have a battery drain issue on our Superb 2. From full charge and after sitting about 4 days there's not enough left in the battery to start the car. It's anew battery. It's a new Bosch battery fitted back in March of this year because the previous one was causing the same problem (I'm now beginning to wonder if there was a problem with the original?). Everything was fine with the new battery until a couple of weeks ago when I replaced the driver's seat (disconnecting the battery for 20 minutes in the process). Maybe there's a link between replacing the driver's seat or disconnecting the battery and something resetting. The driver's seat is heated/memory, I'm considering fitting the old one to see if this fixes the problem. I also have navigation. Any ideas please?
  15. I need to paint the rear bumper on my 1.9 Greenline and therefore need the paint code. Before anyone says... I don't have the service book and the sticker on the boot floor which normally has all the options and paint code is also missing. Can I get it online anywhere from the chassis number as this will save me a trip to the dealers? Many thanks
  16. I’ve been told elsewhere on the forum that it’s possible so I’m just checking to see if anyone knows how? I know a new immobilised chip is required but that’s a separate issue.
  17. I know the key blade itself and the immobiliser chip are separate issues. I have a secondhand remote fob, same part number etc as the existing one. How do I code the used remote fob to my car? I’m told it can be done in VCDS but I’m nervous about messing it up, any help appreciated.
  18. I have VCDS but I'm far from proficient with it, is there a guide somewhere and I can try the remote first?
  19. I managed to pick up a used second hand key for my Superb 2 (actually I found it in a car at the local breakers), it's from the same year car and has the same part number. As far as I understand there are 2 parts to the key, one is a chip for the immobiliser and the other is the remote locking/unlocking part. The chip I understand will need some specialist help to program, but is there a way to get the remote parking first?
  20. Retarded logic if you ask me! I wonder how many people have been caught out with unnecessary bills and stress by that one? Am I allowed to say retarded in the world of WOKE? Just to be clear it wasn’t a reference to a person or group of people of any form!
  21. Yesterday the dpf light came on, indicating that it wouldn't regen, the low fuel warning was also on but indicated a range of 65 miles. I couldn't find anything in the handbook or online specific to the Superb 2 but came across an item about another VAG group vehicle (Golf 6) that low fuel level would block dpf regen. I put £10 worth fuel in and the dpf light extinguished within 10 miles. Is this really true? I owned a B6 Passat 2.0tdi for 5 years and this never happened. Does low fuel level really block dpf regen?
  22. I think my first option would be to remove the pollen filter and see if it’s intact/misfitted or causing an obstruction in some way. The system should work as normal without the filter installed I believe.
  23. I just ordered 2 of the cheapest sensors from eBay, under £17 for the pair and they worked fine. Getting them out was a bit of a fiddle as the holders are glued/bonded to the back of the bumper. These holders can come unstuck from the back of the bumper, in my case someone had superglued the holder back on and managed to glue the faulty sensor into the holder, luckily new self adhesive holders are available from eBay for a few pounds but you have to remove the bottom part of the bumper to fit them. Fit the sensor to the holder before sticking it to the back of the bumper as this is the only way to make sure the sensor will line up with the hole for it in the bumper. I didn't bother to paint the new sensors as I'll be repainting the bumper later this year, I have a full set of working sensors now, the repair took about an hour and cost £23 in total. My next parking sensor project..... I own 2 Superbs in the same colour, same year. One is a 1.9 Greenline with sensors front and rear, the other is an Elegance with sensors only on the rear. I want to fit the front bumper and sensors from the Greenline on the Elegance, mechanically dead easy, but I'm sure there are some coding issues.
  24. Further investigation has revealed that the module is under the passenger seat on a RHD vehicle. In my case replacing the module made no difference so looks like its the heating pad. I'm sure I'll get this sorted by the winter!
  25. I think the answer is that on the probability that someone fitted the spare for a limited period of time it’s unlikely to have caused any problem and as this was picked up from a previous mot the current owner won’t have any further details
