Infotainment System Restarting endlessly
What do u mean troublesome cars. What would worry me is if the infotainment was restarting it be very hard to prove to dealer unless they can do it. It be a waste of time and probably charge a diagnostic fee for looking at it for 5 mins. And I'd be living with it for a few yrs

Infotainment System Restarting endlessly
Skoda octavias mk4 r very popular looking at auto trader Volkswagen golf more same infotainment system I'd honestly say its pretty normal not every1 is complaining about it. Only the early versions. After the softwares updates and reading the forum. alot say it's fixed. I hope I would be worried about the 2020 and 2021 cars with the old modules . But could be fine only skoda will know

Update to Version 1969
No idea but I think its a trip to the dealer to re flash it. Unless u know how to reflash via obd
-
Update to Version 1969
I would delete the update on the computer re download it format a genuine usb stick hence the genuine and tap retry. If that doesn't work I would disconnect the battery for a few hours with the lights on and try again. Then I be shaking Ur obviously computer illiterate if u tryed a ssd. The engineering menu has 4 options ones to update and reflash and ones to boot normal

Update to Version 1969
Is there a reset button? Sounds to me is this is a really simple fix or ur infotainment is goosed. Id try the reset button if there is one using a paper clip. Maybe there's an engineering safe mode? There is a hidden menu option holding down the menu setup button to update from there but this is for the superb and maybe different to the octavia but It's the same infotainment

Road Noise
Did u scrape something on the side wall in ur pic? The piece missing

Road Noise
No idea it was probably winter tyres I thought they the same as snow tyres. I don't remember the kind it was 7yrs ago but they were premium https://www.michelin.co.uk/auto/advice/winter-tyres-guide/what-s-a-winter-tyre says theres no real difference. Mine were louder on motorway no big deal obviously some winter tyres r quiet.

Road Noise
I watched a video summer tyres vs winter tyres in snow and all season vs winter tyres in snow. The all season tyres performed the same as summer tyres in the the snow it was un driveable . Winter tyres did good in snow. Maybe it was the manufacturer of tyre I had it was off an audi. The winter tyres were pretty loud but the grip was amazing in but when it snowed and rarely does the tractors were out cleaning it. I found it a waste of time. I'd avoid driving in the snow even if I had winter tyres lol. My mpg went down too a bit but that might of been the winter fuel who knows bro Summer tyres on snow is bad when it settles. I have primary 4 too and there noisier Ye get winter tyres be safe I'm probs stupid I'm on the motorway alot I only used winter tyres once a few yrs ago and didn't snow And did u drive in the that in ur pictures Im just using common logic more grip on roads winter tyres is less mpg It felt like my winter tyres were sticking to the road
-
Road Noise
if u can afford winter tyres and u drive in snow i Highley recommend getting winter tyres in uk there is snow but gets cleaned very quick theres not much point
-
Road Noise
it does reduce the noise a bit i think winter tyres r noisy because the traction more traction more noise i think we got alot of people in scotland here

Why do some dealers insist on phoning?
Ur from dundee too? Nice Its not the Dundee John clark but very close I'm wondering what could be so important not telling me through email whether the service can be changed to variable. Maybe it was an ex mi7 vehicle. Ye will try that
-
Why do some dealers insist on phoning?
And selling market on these used skoda octavia r pretty slow at the moment probably because the facelift is out
-
Why do some dealers insist on phoning?
Yes but he has my details and knows what I want. And he responded to me in 10 minutes I am pretty busy and know what I want I've read all the details its a very simple 2 questions. Obviously if I was gagging for the car I'd be reserving it and been up there. And its easier asking questions through email and thinking about it. But obviously the dealer doesn't know that Whats the difference between speaking through email or phone? I have bought plenty of cars on the telephone and phoned plenty of dealers looking for my last car
-
Why do some dealers insist on phoning?
I see a car on the the website all I want to know is can the service be changed to variable and how much would u take for my car and Thats it i will probably buy it. If the car offers low ill sell it on motorway the new cars close. But no he says he needs to run through some things on the the phone im like just tell me very simple 2 minute questions on email . Then we can speak on the phone. I not to fussed about not getting it my car is still great. Its just a pretty good offer living close. Whats so important he needs to speak on the phone? Feels like a bit pressure because not all dealers do this. It might just be me lol

Another question about the facelift
The facelift looks pretty good but maybe out of my price range I'm seeing £35k for the se l diesel. The 13 inch infotainment I've been reading but is there a huge difference to it? My worry is there will be new software for it and things won't be available for the old octavia the 10 inch Really need a new car now or a few months and want to nail it. I'm looking at the bmw 2 series too but seems kind of pointless on the motorway I could be wrong. Bmw has great reviews but skoda looks OK. Is this a hate forum all brands r crap only skoda is great lol
