Correct there is no mention of taxis, hackney cabs etc but that's because (IMHO but I'm not a qualified lawyer) it appears to supercede (or at least gives the Secretary of State the option by further legislation to be specific), existing vehicle & driver licensing with a new category specifically for Automated Vehicles , ie licensed Operators of no user in charge journeys to replace those activities currently undertaken by licensed taxi drivers in licensed vehicles etc.. ie

I don’t need a Crystal Ball, the legislation for operators for vehicle use without user in charge (ie. a “robotaxi” type vehicle has already been passed)

But is it ? As commented above in such a scenario even those of you with solar would be fsked. If the roof survived the blast then the huge decrease in sunlight caused by a dust cloud would likely render the charging useless.

Methinks thou dost overanalyse things ;o) I was merely highlighting that , dependent on individual circumstances , that if you move from a Motability Lease to say a private purchase then there are various factors that you may have to pay for. One of those being that on a Motability lease you can (apparently) have insurance for up to 3 named drivers included in the lease.

Ah but wouldn't buying an ex Motability EV (or indeed any car regardless) mean you have to pay for Insurance (for up to three approved drivers), vehicle excise duty, servicing with a free replacement vehicle, tyres and breakdown cover separately out of your DLA/PIP etc ? (I believe I am correct in saying that a Motability lease includes all of those)

why would a dealer have imported an Indian built car which is 95% loccally sourced and aimed at he Indian Market and which doesn't appear on Skoda UK website as a current model into the UK though?

And yet the Slavia (which as I understand it was built primarily for the Indian market) isn't a model listed by Skoda.co.uk as being one they sell in the UK...

its not so much about the speed (although there is a sweet spot) as use of the accelerator which is why IMHO on a motorway run especially ACC in Eco Mode is probably the most fuel efficient way to make progress

actually that's maybe an anti theft measure the supermarkets could implement. Make you preauthorise on a card as you enter the store and don't let you enter until you do? Meanwhile self service tills have their place, especially if you're only grabbing a few items, don't use them for the full weekly shop

(So theoretically in a lit residential street you only legally need sidelights on whilst driving???) Actually there's another thought. ACC uses the radar to set the following distance but.. Forward Assist (independent of ACC ) also uses the Radar and doesn't that use terminology such as Early or Late to refer to when/how it warns you? That being the case I wonder if the OP is just slightly confused and he/she has the Forward Assist at "Late" (ie wait until the last minute to warn you) and the ACC Distance at an unknown value (possibly set at max gap) ?

Just be careful you dont overshoot and stick it in Reverse (or even worse Park but I dont think that would happen) but seriously its a question I haven't given any thought about. I would either "carefully" put it in Neutral or just leave it in gear and maintain control otherwise utilising any engine braking to best advantage. Intersting suggestion about using the Edo Coast function. Apparently the minute you touch the brake the car goes back into gear
