  1. Just like Barbara Windsor or Dolly Parton , doesn't stop them looking good lol
  2. That Jacked up Jiminy pickup looks cool
  3. Trivia Time: "When Sir Leonard Lord the Managing Director of the British Motor Corporation specified the dimensions of the Mini he said it should be no more than 10 feet long. They missed their target, by a quarter of an inch, the classic Mini was 10 feet ¼ inch long." Source: https://www.haynesmuseum.org/news/spotlight-classic-mini-10-fact-you-might-not-know
  4. I'm curious. As an employee of HMRC are you allowed to discuss potential future (or current) potential Government strategies publically? I know a friends wife I had years ago worked for HMRC Newport and they always had to be very careful about what they posted online(or even discussed in person). Anyways back to "I do not believe pay per mile will work as people will use the motorways less and drive through Cotswold villages and the like to take a shorter route, that will not go down well." , there may well be a small subset of people who will do their best to minimise their expenditure however I rather suspect the additional time required (and that is something that would increase if more people skipped the motorways) would keep most motorists on the routes they take already.
  5. Only if more Governments like the UKs narrow mindly insist on Zero Emissions at the tailpipe rather than the more realistic emissions reduction targets the EU is currently setting and where PHEVs etc come more into play. (Also hydrogen fuel cells, which would meet Zero Emissions but admittedly currently suffer bigger infrastructure challenges than EVs)
  6. Just China in Geeleys factory.
  7. where's the Polestar 4 built?
  8. meh, who needs a full fat EV especially when there are so few good sized estate EVs on the market (and also I'm not in the market for "new" vehicles). Chances are when I come to replace my current Superb estate in around 2-3 years time I will likely be looking at a 5-6 year old (so presuming I'm talking 2026/27 then a 21/22 plate) PHEV Superb Estate. EV like low costs for the short journeys but with the engine for longer journeys. Of course in a couple of years time the market may be different, ho hum
  9. oh knowing the Government it will be some sort of high tech solution involving extanded range RFID tags(or other transponder type thing) that require a network of readers fitted to roadside furniture that will be outsourced to the likes of Capita or Fujitsu , will be late being delivered and massively over budget
  10. "spin" is just a synonym for "bull****" 🤪
  11. sounds like bull**** to me. If the national grid is only 40% renewable then 60% of what physically comes in to your property is non renewable regardless of what certificates your supplier has.
  12. I've often wondered how you can tell exactly where the wiggly amps coming in to your home originated as everything goes into a great big mixing pot. I mean think about it, electricity from producers like wind farms, solar farms and coal plants all go into the central transmission network before being split out more locally by the DNOs. Sure, your supplier may say they only supply "green" electricity but unless they are running their own transmission network and have full control of all the cables going to your property there's no way they can really guarantee the source of the electric they are reselling.
  13. why has noone asked how a piece of dry pasta ended up in there in the first place?
  14. In which scenario I would probably lean more towards the Octavia estate as the luggage space is more practically shaped than the Superb hatchback and you're not losing out too greatly on luggage space (Superb Hatch 625/1760 , Octavia Estate 640/1700 )
  15. If you don't already have dogs and aren't planning on getting them for 3 years why worry about the boot space Alternatively what are prices on the superb estate like over there ? eg here in the UK is this example of an Octavia and Superb estate at the same price , personally I would probably go for the higher mileage estate. Marginally more room in the back with seats up (640 litres seats up for the Octavia, 660 litres seats up for the Superb. Seats down that increases to 1700 litres for the Octavia and 1950 litres for the Superb) and more leg room if carrying rear passengers
  16. For a fair and equitable comparison the question should have been more generic whilst remaining specific. eg rather than asking for EV Vehicle only (which in itself is an oxymoron, what's an electric vehicle vehicle??) the question could have said "how many vehicles broken down by EV & ICE......."
  17. "we're not stopping you repairing your car with parts of your choosing it's simply that you will become ineligible for OTA software upgrades" Is how I imagine the defence would go ;o)
  18. Probably because remote precondition only requires a heater/chiller to be turned on without enabling power to the motors???? Same goes for any aux heater in an ICE vehicle, I would imagine as long as the main engine doesn't need to be running then it's exempt ----------------- ahhhh it could almost be considered "wooly" lol The term 'motor vehicle' is defined in section 185(1) of the Road Traffic Act 1988 and section 136(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as "a mechanically propelled vehicle, intended or adapted for use on roads". Although this is the legal definition, ultimately it is a matter of fact and degree for a court to interpret as to whether or not a vehicle is a motor vehicle at the time of the incident. The term "mechanically propelled vehicle" is not defined in the Road Traffic Acts. It is ultimately a matter of fact and degree for the court to decide. At its most basic level it is a vehicle which can be propelled by mechanical means. It can include both electrically and steam powered vehicles. "Intended or adapted for use on roads" is also not defined by statute and again is ultimately a matter for the court to decide based on the evidence before it. There has, however, been extensive case law on the subject and the main point that emerges is what is known as the reasonable man test as per the following cases: Other vehicles which are not currently lawful for use on public roads unless registered and insured include self-balancing scooters (e.g. Segways), mini-Segways, Hoverboards, and single-wheel electric skateboards. https://www.cps.gov.uk/legal-guidance/road-traffic-summary-offences#:~:text=The term 'motor vehicle' is,adapted for use on roads".
  19. No I haven’t and where it is might be a struggle to retrofit
  20. ahhhhhhhh.................. The net is not an individual item. You need the parcel shelf that includes the integrated net (the B option below). I don’t know about Australia but the shelf with integrated net was never made available as an option in the UK. Part numbers are 3V5867769B - parcel shelf with integrated net & blind 3V5867769C - parcel shelf with integrated blind 3V5867769E - parcel shelf only Note: blind requires additional magnetic mounting points.
  21. this is confusing as I'm 99% certain that the item for sale is the 3 whiter coloured nets only but the car also has netting on the underside of the parcel tray https://motoallegro.net/en/detail/prod-15115172030/?attempt=1 Ie this kit https://shop.wingsskoda.co.uk/products/skoda-netting-system-superb-iii
  22. Wonder how commonplace this will become? (NB for those not familiar with Luis Rossman he can be a bit fruity in his language)
  23. errrrm with half price sundays on BG for some time now we do try and do all the washing and drying on Sundays and we typically have Sunday dinner between 2 & 3. That said one of the biggest electricity consumers we have is my 300L aquarium which obviously has to run 24/7 to be kept at 26.5c plus the filtration & lighting
