  1. Btw unless someone is in front of you it’s entirely possible the ACC may do the same thing #justsaying
  2. or if you want any contents left in the car just smash a window
  3. they don't care about the specs. If something proves an issue they just up their premiums. No benefit to them to lobby the manufacturers
  4. If I've selected the correct option at Parkers the MK1 Kodiaq in that trim level was not offered with ACC and only with conventional "dumb" cruise control which is likely why VAG have advised their dealers cant do the work. Reading between the lines of your post ACC can be retrofitted by a 3rd party but this would not be a VAG approved retrofit and if you want to DIY it and lose your warranty that's at your self risk. Now on to the other part, should "dumb" cruise control (DCC) maintain the speed going downhill? I have no experience of the Skoda (or any other VAG vehicle) with DCC however I know that my old KIA Ceed with a DCC would hold speed downhill. Does that mean its a fault or a feature witht he Skoda DCC? No Idea? Maybe other owners with Skoda DCC can comment. https://www.parkers.co.uk/skoda/kodiaq/suv-2017/20-tdi-se-l-executive-5dr-dsg-[7-seat]/specs/
  5. Oddly enough has anyone else noticed how the delta between PPL for diesel and PPL for petrol has been dropping recently? For example my local petrol station fiesel is 134.9ppl & petrol is 132.9ppl which is a delta of 4ppl whereas it only seems like a few weeks or so ago that delta was hovering closer to 10ppl. NB Premium Diesel & Super Unleaded are both 164.9ppl
  6. No you didn't 🤪 Actually that's another observation from me. The Petrol market share has barely changed from 23 to 24, would you agree that suggests most of the PHEV|BEV gain was from consumers who might historically have bought diesels as they are the largest downward figure? By extrapolation it could be said that buyers of petrol cars aren't being swayed as much towards any flavour of EV and that really Government policy isn't working and that the move to EV (in all its varieties) is currently mostly due to market dissatisfaction with diesel .
  7. No they shouldn't be added in. if its PHEV or HEV then it is what it is regardless of the ICE element, unless of course you're trying the statisticians trick of diluting the figures to make BEV sales look better in comparison ;o) Do you want to split BEVs by battery technology or some other criteria such as capacity ?? Probably not . As for the last part of your reply that's the whole point. They may not count towards the UK Governments' insistence on Zero rather than a general overall lowering but the sales figures would suggest that the market prefers PHEVS to BEVs (even though thats what the Govt wants you to buy) as their sales are increasing at a higher rate than BEV sales EDIT: Actually there's an argument that Diesel & Petrol could be grouped together as ICE especially given how small a share of the market diesels have on their own.
  8. No Is the Mercedes GLC 300 de still sold new? That's one example of a diesel PHEV Also I believe the E class estate can be had as a diesel mild or plugin hybrid Range Rover & BMW X5s are also available as diesel based mild hybrids
  9. It would appear that although the UK Government would "prefer" new car buyers to "invest" in BEVs that the market appears to prefer PHEVs given how much better they have performed compared to this time last year . HEVs have fallen out of favour in comparison though https://www.smmt.co.uk/vehicle-data/evs-and-afvs-registrations/
  10. The Chinese manufacturers prices will be cheap and then the Government will slap huge import taxes on raking in more money at the expense of the UK consumer who can't get a BEV from traditional auto suppliers because they have no interest in building them to meet the UK Government's isolationist and interventionist policies
  11. However it appears that globally it is only the UK Government that is mandating for Zero Emissions at the tail pipes(ie BEVS and Hydrogen fuel cell) , other areas aren't which may be why the BEV sales are dropping in those other areas as subsidies for BEVs are slowly withdrawn and market forces go " meh we don't want these, we're happy with cheaper HEVS & PHEVS (& Range extenders) " Given our Governments almost unique stance we may end up being a sub standard market because if globally there is no incentive to produce BEVs and especialy if the only place (due to interventionism) that "wants" them needs also to be built as RHD why should they build BEVs if the global market isn't there for them?
  12. The Ultimate aim of the UK Government is to target Zero tailpipe emissions, the EU is (currently) targeting reduced tailpipe emissions (which PHEVs & HEVs count towards whereas in the UK they don't). I think the US is adopting a similar approach to Europe
  13. most if us probably have an understanding already however this is still an interesting video e
  14. Ah, the joys of having your concerns brushed aside until they become actual problems—always a great feeling. It's amazing how a vague "it’s cold outside" explanation was supposed to put your mind at ease back then. But hindsight, as they say, is 20/20. At least now you’ve got your Carista dongle confirming what you’ve been suspecting all along. As for the fluctuating temperatures, it’s definitely not ideal. I can see why you'd be uneasy, especially given how much you rely on the car. The oil and coolant temps you’ve been observing do seem a bit off, and it’s unfortunate that the car didn’t flag the thermostat issue earlier—certainly would've saved some headaches. In terms of long-term damage, it’s tricky to say exactly. Running the engine at lower-than-optimal temperatures could lead to increased wear over time, but hopefully catching it now will prevent any serious issues down the road. It’s good you're getting the DSG cooler fix sorted too, and hopefully the garage takes your concerns seriously this time. It’s frustrating when you feel like you should’ve pushed harder earlier, but you’re taking the right steps now, and that's what matters. Fingers crossed everything goes smoothly from here on out!
  15. Very nice . . . . And this is why I have my wireless charger mount on the Air vent next to the window so it's blowing cooling air onto my iPhone (appreciate that you're referring to an OEM location not aftermarket)
  16. Volvo gives up plan to sell only EVs by 2030 https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/c3ejye39434o
  17. wouldn't increased burrowing have increased the chances of sinkholes???
  18. Jon got his idea for the video from a Post I made in his FB group the same day
  19. ehem Please refer to this I posted way back on the 30th July.....................
  20. Ami cant go on the motorway as its a L6e light quadricycle limited to 45kph/28mph The YoYo is a L7e heavy quadricycle with a max speed not exceeding 90kph/55mph and is allowed on the motorway
  21. Where more petrol car drivers got the answer right than wrong was around energy independence where 37% recognized that more EVs running on British renewable electricity would make the UK more energy independent than relying on increasing imports of oil and petrol. 29% agreed with the incorrect statement that EVs would weaken the UK’s energy independence. Granted, more EVs would reduce the amount of Oil/ Petrol imported but its doesn't make the UK more energy independent. As I write this the UK is currently having to import 22% of its electric , that's some way off being "energy Independent" and more EVs could mean even more needing importing ;o) https://grid.iamkate.com/
  22. I'm still getting 3 keyfobs wrapped in silver foil type vibes about this................
  23. but that's not a small city car, it's a L7e quadricycle designed in Turin, built in Shanghai that first debuted as a production model in 2021 at the IAA in Munich ;o)
  24. oooooh a special fob magnet holder to turn on power in a hotel room. That would be annoying as with the majority of hotel rooms (in my experience) you can normally use any credit card sized piece of plastic to turn power on as all they are really is are mechanical switches What this thread needs is a picture of this special fob and fob holder
