  1. Very nice How easy was it to do? Did you remove the tyres to do this? My RS8 replicas are looking worse for wear due to laquer peeling and bubbling so would be interested in doing this too.
  2. The Fabia has huge lumps of acceleration but understeers more so won't go round a corner as fast as the Octi. It's not a surprise that it equalled you, the 0-60 times are only something like 1/2 a second apart iirc so whats that in real terms? half a car length or so. In the twisties you would have started to move away steadily.
  3. :iagree: although the map should be 2nd or 3rd on the list, standard suspension really doesn't compliment a remap
  4. nothing wrong with the pikey option haven't lost boost yet despite the recent heat and I'm Revo'd as well
  5. The Vrs came with ASR or ESP as an option (Standard on WRC edition) As you have an ASR button that is what you have and yes it is traction control. As for the flatspot a throttle body clean usually sorts issues like this as it can get pretty dirty with the recirculating oil vapours. Look in the tech section and there is a handy guide with pics
  6. Clive are you trying to get a discount on your next order
  7. A pain in the a$$ to fit with no real benefits. Been there and reverted to original. Westallc has fitted a silicon tip that is an excellant product and much better fitting than the forge but unless you want bling I wouldn't bother as the gains aren't there. No bhp increase but a more reliable dv. After remapping some OEM dv's have been known to fail. A sensible upgrade but again no gains. Spend on the suspension first would be my honest advice as a car that handles will overall be quicker than a mapped car that doesn't and will be much more fun to drive on twisty roads. I'm not even sure I would remap a car again personally but I would improve the suspension and brakes every time.
  8. I have a 4 hole whiteline arb. I started on 2nd hardest and it was great but curiousity got the better of me and after a couple of weeks went to hardest. I love it and have never gone back definitley recommend you try it and see how you get on.
  9. Trouble is if we did that some self important human rights group would prosecute the MOD for war crimes :thumbdwn:
  10. Is that true when its warm? My car started fine everytime from cold but refused to start if it was warm. Also the engine would just die sometimes and left me stranded a couple of times Read my thread here for more about this problem http://briskoda.net/octavia-i/epc-light-16706-code/135510/
  11. I had this earlier in the year :thumbdwn: Real tight to get the sensor but simple enough job otherwise.
  12. Feeling poor here too. Noticed my throat was getting sore 2 weeks ago, that turned into a mild cold which seemed to get better. Developed a dry, tickly cough 3 days ago and am all blocked up again now At least it's not swine flu
  13. Well I disagree. I used to hate ASR for the reasons being described but now I have learnt to drive with it it is a handy tool.
  14. ASR works on similar principals as abs albeit in reverse. The idea is that the tyre has the most point of traction just before it lets go, ASR senses the wheels losing grip and cuts then applies throttle continually and faster than the driver could. With a spooled turbo I find it takes off without I am stranded until the revs build and the turbo kicks in. I also found it to be good in the snow and couldn't get up the hill into my street without it when we had the snow. The council in their wisdom put a speed hump at the entrance to my street so you have to slow down, not ideal when you need a run at a snowy slope :rotz: Trust me I tried climbing it with it off and just sat spinning but once it was on I inched my way slowly
  15. I used to suffer this with it and realised that it dropped you into turbo lag hence all power is taken for far to long. If you spool the turbo first you can achieve some impressive launches especially in the wet and now I wouldn't be without it, and when it snowed it came into it's own when going up hills
  16. I think it's outrageous anyway. One minute it's a congestion charge then it's an environmental tax, I think it's time for some serious legal challenges to this unfair tax. While we have to pay road fund licence to use the road systems why should we be made to pay twice?
  17. I don't think there is a sensor to measure torque or bhp tbh. I think the lg uses calculations of airflow, fuel flow and rpm to guesstimate a rough figure, it is supposed to be pretty accurate though.
  18. You are far too sensitive, TV show's suicides week in week out. I actually found it quite funny. Overall not the best episode though and Sky+ missed the last 5 minutes again
  19. Spot on I avoid my local for similar reasons, and the fact my ex in laws shop there
  20. No no no :nutkick: Every fry up needs mushrooms and black pudding
  21. The Skoda reminds me of a Z series beemer but slightly better looking. I like it
  22. It would appear it is "greener" to make a whole new car and ship it from Korea than it is to maintain an old car :thumbdwn:
  23. I think standard rack lock to lock is 3.3 turns and the Vrs is slightly faster at just 3 turns. You could get a quick rack which is 2.5 turns and transforms the car Quick rack is available from Audi TT 3.2, Golf R32 and Seat Leon Cupra R and probably a few others. It is becoming the must have mod and I highly recommend it
  24. Think of it like this a K&N (cotton) or similar is something like 2mm thick and a pipercross (foam) is about 20mm thick. K&N will offer much better airflow than the pipercross.......for 500 miles or so. After that the pores will start to clog and they will be not much better than standard whereas a pipercross will still have plenty of dust retention and less restriction. If I was thinking of using a cotton filter I would just change the standard panel filter more regularly. Foam wins for me every time.
