  1. Well I've had two Felicia's over the past 6 years. The first was a 1996SPI and I regularly got 46mpg out of it. And I mean a genuine 46mpg as well. My 1998 Felicia mpi still does between 42 and 45mpg. Thats using it for work on the roads of Lincolnshire doing regular 100 mile round trips, sometimes with 3 or 4 people in the car!
  2. Ah, your the maroon Favorit owner.
  3. An excellent day out. In fact the best Skoda event I've attended! Hope it turns into an annual event between Briskoda, Skoda Owners Club, Skoda UK and all other Skoda clubs, forums, etc
  4. And guess what again?? MY FELI YET AGAIN HAS GONE STRAIGHT THROUGH ITS MOT!! But I still haven't done nothing about the rusting tailgate.:D:D:thumbup::thumbup:
  5. The books I've got in my collection are: The True Story of Skoda by Dave Randal £14.99 but can be bought for at least half of that. One book dealer at National Classic Car Show , last November, only wanted £5.99! Can be found easily on e-bay. Skoda: Laurin & Klement by Ivan Margolius & Charles Meisl. Published in 1992 for £25. Think its no longer in print but again I've seen them on e-bay and at specialist motor book dealers. But the two real coffee table books are: 1. L&K-Skoda. Part 1 The upward path. Covering the years 1895-1945. 2. L&K Skoda Part 2 The Flight of the Winged Arrow. Covering 1945-2003. These two can be bought from the Skoda Museum in English text or I know our local Skoda dealer in Lincoln, Horton. Skoda , will get both on special order for £39. Try them on the internet at www.theskodashop. Or Rainworth Skoda over at Mansfield can also get them. So I'm sure other retailers can. I got my two off e-bay but they don't appear very often.
  6. :thumbup:Thanks both of you, you were both right. Didn't need an adapter at all. Plugged it straight into the old connectore and it works brilliantly.
  7. :confused:Is the permanent live the thick red or brown wire? And where would be a good place to wire it to? The hazard light switch could probably be the nearest point, couldn't it? Forgive me for this but when it comes to electrics if my brain was dynamite it wouldn't blow my head off!!
  8. Just fitted a Skoda Symphony CD/radio unit in my Fabia Silverline. Works brilliantly apart from one small problem. Every time I take the key out and then put it back in the unit has to be recoded? Anyone any idea why? I used one of those ISO fitting things so I needn't cut the wiring loom if that helps.
  9. What have you done with the Skoda Symphony Cd that I presume was fitted previously? I'm looking for one to put straight into my Fabia Silverline.
  10. This may seem ignorant on my part but what code do I use for the free tickets?
  11. A helluva lot more than that I can assure you. Whereabouts are you from friend, I live 16 miles from Boston, and about 30 from Lincoln. Well I am the ripe old age of 47, clean licence, never claimed, etc. I'm around 16 miles south of Lincoln and 18 miles north west of Boston. An insurance quote for a Fabia 1400 16 valve was almost as dear as a VRS. So I started to think why not consider a VRS instead. I'm not getting any younger, like Skodas so I could well be treating myself. Would certainly be different to my much loved dependable Felicia.
  12. I've just had a bit of a rush of blood to the head again. Been thinking of replacing my trusty Felicia for a Fabia 16 valve for god knows how long. Then I thought why don't I go all the way and have a Fabia VRS. Fuel economy is good (how much do you folks get to the gallon out of standard car) Then insurance quotes arose. I can get insured for around £300!! Thought it would be no end more. How much do any of you lot pay. Would like to know.
  13. My dads just had a new battery fitted to his 2000 Fabia. Found the radio needed coding (didn't think it should have). Anyway put the code in and everything works alright until the ignition gets turned off. It then needs coding again. This happens every time we use the car. Whats wrong? Anyone any ideas please? Being an early model the radio/cassette is model no. MS 202.
  14. :smrbow: I'm ever so excited. I'm telling everyone. Every forums heard about it. MY FELICIA WENT STRAIGHT THROUGH ITS MOT TODAY. NOT A THING WRONG WITH IT. LONG LIVE SKODA FELICIA'S I SAY. Now I might do something about its rusting tailgate.:D:D
  15. Just got a new battery on fathers Fabia. The power steering was playing up and thats rectified it. Now of course the radio wants coding. How do I do this. Any advice appreciated.
  16. As from today my fathers Fabia has started to intermittently loose its power steering. Sometimes you start the car and theres no power steering so turn it off then turn it on again and the power steering is okay. The battery has got very low and lethargic and really needs replacing. Do you think a new battery would rectify this?
  17. Unfortunately I tend to agree. OK fathers Fabia is an April 2000 model but to be told it needs an anti roll bar at 35k and costing £180. Then also advised to replace the track control arm bushes! To be told Skoda have revised them. So Skoda know the problem so why not replace them for free! We never had these issues 10 years ago with our Felicias!!
  18. At its last MOT my fathers Fabia had to have a new anti roll bar. It was also advised on having new control arms fitted,, which he didn't have done. At 35k!!!! I've read all the anti roll bar stories on the forum and and would like a few about the track control arms. Someones pointed out you're lucky to get 60k out of a set! Well I mean my old man does thrash his Fabia. HE'S 82 YEARS OLD FOR CHRISTS SAKE!!! He's waiting for the new Vrs to be launched then he'll go really mad. We never had these issues with our Felicias.
  19. Welcome. You'll find the Felicia 1300 has a timing chain instead of a cambelt. The timing chain shouldn't need replacing as yet. Mines done 77k and is perfect. Only Felicia 1600's and diesels have cambelts.
  20. Both of my Felicias had this problem. I agree it wants a good lubing!
  21. I can vouch for the this dealer being okay. Well run, friendly, and knowledgable. In fact I would be inclined to think if the MD found one of his staff had mistreated a customer they would get a right B*****KING!
