  1. With a top end of 110 & 140bhp it probably gets there very fast! Santa will probably have to supply you with a petrol station too
  2. Furry Russian hat with ear-flaps called a Ushanka
  3. I'm sure I read on here something like 40-45, though (and I've not found any official figures) 40-55 depending on your driving style http://www.briskoda.net/forums/felicia-fun-forman/95-felicia-mpg/88394/
  4. The "race" thing has always been used to attempt to differentiate people and keep us divided. One of the fascinating facts I learned recently is that at least 90% of "white" Londoners in the 60's who were protesting at the Jamaican immigrants have some African ancestors from when the Abolition Act freed all slaves in Britain in 1807. 25% of Afro-Carribean people have a white male ancestor from the days of slavery. We are ALL human beings
  5. Maybe it has a similar function to the yellow band round traffic wardens hats - which is to stop people parking on their heads
  6. Running on "shop bought" diesel, the 1.9 felly is no more economical than than the 1.3 petrol. As you've probably read here on other threads, it's not very open to tuning either :( Chip fat & regular servicing is probably your best route
  7. Ummmmmmm... How old is the car? It's done 72k and the filter probably has never been changed Thanks - and what a STUPID place to put a fuel filter, eh? :thumbdwn: I'll do all the other fuel checks too (now ) OMG! 120 posts on this thread
  8. These are all about cutting out/stalling etc. and the first thread is actually abouit stalling when braking at roundabouts!
  9. That's coz we're on Briskoda all the time (I had the last post on 17 of the first page of threads once )
  10. One of the first things I noticed was the fuel pump running then cutting once pressure was gained The fuel relay clicks No fuel leaks There is SOME fuel getting to the plugs, so I'm thinking (and as the car has done well over 40 000 miles) that the fuel filter may be blocked... Thankfully I have jack & axle stands :P I will also invest in some throttle body cleaner
  11. Do you mean that the brake pedal doesn't return? Check out: http://www.briskoda.net/forums/felicia-fun-forman/shes-stalling-nooooooooooooooooo/91068 http://www.briskoda.net/forums/felicia-fun-forman/throttle-body/60867 http://www.briskoda.net/forums/felicia-fun-forman/felicia-saga/90061/ too
  12. Cold-start: car fires then dies (BIG improvement ) This also means that it has a fuel problem, despite there being petrol on the plugs when the car is cranked... OR the immobiliser Aaaaaarrrgghhhhhhh!!!!................
  13. Welcome to Briskoda (too) :iagree: I'll also add that a garage would be able to test whether the alternator is working correctly too. Reconditioned alternators have been known to have been sold with faults (there's a thread on here about such a case), so I wouldn't discount the alternator being faulty given your description of symptoms. As for the starting problem, has the car always been like this (how long have you had the car?) or how long has it had this problem?
  14. It depends on where it may be leaking. If there's a leak between the manifold and the valve, then probably not (and this is the most likely place), if the problem is with the valve or the servo, the braking action will become stiff after the engine is turned off rather than after a couple of pumps. The engine will probably be running rough across the rev range too as more air is being drawn into the engine than the ECU is providing fuel for.
  15. As I've got both spark & fuel plus engine turning over, compression, clean plugs, reasonably clean air filter ects reconnected (& tried with it disconnected again) and STILL not even attempting to fire, I think another plug into a computer is needed (after running the battery down again ). Luck? :rotz:
  16. :iagree: The stop-start queuing is stupid IMHO. The number of times I've allowed drivers in front of me to race off then get to the "back" of the next queue only to brake and come to a dead stop is "lots" and I always catch them up again without braking or rapidly accelerating (hence using more fuel). Absolutely no difference in time and huge amounts of difference in stress & wasted fuel - not only mine, those behind me too
  17. So the Fab 1.4 is stroked rather than rebored, so if a 1.3 were stroked AND rebored (replacement inserts) it would be getting into kit-car performance areas? Why not rebore a 1.4?
  18. Now I AM saying nothing http://www.briskoda.net/forums/off-topic-chit-chat/what-don-t-you-post/96800/
  19. :( about the withdrawal of the job offer. At least the temp job is still going - and it's easier to get a job when you have a job I think you're doing the right thing by supporting SWMBO to do it herself rather than doing stuff for her I also wish her Dad making a full recovery asap.
  20. In a "competitive" work environment, a large proportion of work related stress absence has underlying roots in bullying, no matter what the perceived external causes are. Bully OnLine: Tim Field shares his unique insight into workplace bullying, a cause of stress and ill health and the basis of harassment, discrimination, prejudice, abuse and violence
  21. I'll repeat that request Anyone in the Notts area with VAG com able to help me if I'm going to be charged
