  1. Hi guys - on the MFD2 install guide - there seems a fair number of fascia parts. What's the diff on the L and Q versions of the silver fascia for the nav system?!?

At the moment - looks like i need to buy the following:-

    1Z0 858 069 (L or Q) 2AU - Trim for climatronic switch for vehicles with navigation system bright aluminium - £15.65

    12 Pin Green Flat Contact Housing (Plug) Radio/Telephone Connection - 3B7 035 447 B - £3.38

    7M0 035 727 - 18 Pin Media Connector - £2.40

    Anything else guys?

  2. Hi Andy - i have pretty much the same setup as No Waiting's pic above using the Brodit stuff. The left hand console mount is perfect for mobile phone use and tidy cabling. I also have the Brodit mount for the drivers vent above the light dial - this is fitted with the TomTom active mount. Again this works well for power via the fuse panel below and RDS-TMC routed under the plastic on the A pillar. The brodit mounts are all clipped in place and i haven't found the need to use the adhesive tape that's included. I hope this helps.

  3. Hi Simon - thanks for the RR update and feedback on the Bluefin installed on your 2.0TFSi. I only got Bluefin last week and thus far i'm impressed with the traction (except when wet) and smooth application of torque and power from low revs. I only have a pipercross filter in addition to the Bluefin - but the car does now feel truly fast.

2009 - should see my EVOMs fitted, plus uprated diverter valve, turbo back exhaust and then some handling tweaks i reckon.

    Cheers,

    Ste.

  4. Hi Stu - well on point one.... i;m still using my older Panasonic 42" plasma which is now 4 years old. Best picture on a flat panel by miles - especially after seeing all the LCDs my mates have bought more recently.

Can't comment on 1080p though - my setup is 1080i max. I use the PS3 and have some media streaming capability from my main PC upstairs which acts are the media server (tried under WMP11 and TVersity freeware). The setup works ok but has it's niggles on occasion - if anyone else has a working setup 100% then let me know how!!! ;)

So from my limited knowledge - i'd say you are on the right track. Nice to know that customers are still valued though and JL seem to offer decent comeback on your repeating issue, with a view to retaining your business going forward.

    Cheers,

    Ste.

  5. Hey Baker! Another stirling effort there mate - love the detail and like others - love the car full stop!

Touche - my car is looking rather dull and really hasn't gone anywhere with the snow we had up North last week. Almost decided to detail it on Sunday - but the temperature and lack of light made me stay indoors and do Xmas shopping online instead! :D

Best wishes for the festive period mate - catch you in the new year!

    Cheers,

    Ste.

  6. Indeed Baker 21 - the 6m hose as standard is better than most offered when i bought it - but well worth investing in a 10m variant to make those detailing days a doddle! Also note - you can move over to the karcher accessories if you change the lance for a karcher one too.

  7. I must admit - it's a very mixed back with DM Keith Bradford. Sales staff seemed efficient initially, and made good efforts on the part exchange and shopped around for valuations on my model with added extras. They got the demo car in swiftly as i was test driving a VW, Mazda plus others that weekend. All good.

Where they did fall down was on pricing. Very unclear and the usual group huddle in the managers office then back out to "offer" a deal. Then at the mention of internet pricing and price matching - they step back and say they won't get involved end of!

After finding the deal i wanted elsewhere - i get a phone call asking what price they need to match etc. I was asked to hold back on the order for another day and they would revise the deal they had put on the table (but this was only after Skoda offered extra bonuses that month i later found out!).

...needless to say - the call never came and the sales guy was poor and extremely arrogant in the end. I've got two work colleagues who walked away from the same sales guy too - but not sure if he's still there.

Service wise. Booked in for tomorrow on warranty items including condensation in one of the headlamps and intermittent issue with auto closure feature on central locking. Thus far - no issues - polite and effecient on the Parts/Service desk. I'll update you after i get the car back.

  8. HI Mark,

Seeing something similar on my Octy MkII with the auto closure function which should engage when speed goes over 10mph. All doors lock, something fails and then they all unlock. Intermittent too..... sometimes ok and sometimes fails, even when i manually try to override using the button on the centre console.

Suggestions i've had are that the lock mechanism is stiff on one of the doors. I'm under warranty and plan to let the dealer have a look - just not had time to take the car down.

I will let you know if anything specific is found.

  9. So - dare i ask - anyone got a parts catalog for the Oct MkII that could assist with the exact part number for the L/H headlamp unit plastic cover for the rear of the Xenon/sidelight section which is clamped on with two metal retaining clips, plus two torx T20 screws used diagonally? I only ask as my Skoda dealer was pathetic last time i was in looking for a specific dash clip - it was like pulling teeth!

    Thanks in advance.
