  1. It was just me listening in to another conversation but I was literally shocked at what I was hearing. I almost wanted to go up to her and say, "Give me his details and I'll get someone who knows what they're doing to sort it instead of you lot trying to ruin his car and making it an MOT failure before it's even started"
  2. Didn't even bother entertaining them having been rejected the free MOT's offer. Going to go to my usual where it's £29
  3. Well what a farce yestereday - "Hi, your car is ready" Great. After waiting two hours at the dealers I was less than happy!! Anyway, I asked about the paintwork and corrosion issues I had pointed out. "We won't replace your wheel centres because it's just wear and tear" - a car that's three years old, done just 19.5k and is garaged! "We've had a look at the fog light surround (where the paint had just flaked off once whilst I washed it as it hasn't been painted properly and the paint is so thin) and it's just a stone chip" No it blumming isn't - I saw it flake off with my own eyes! Worse though was the dealers idea with another customers car - See the Diagnosis section!!!
  4. I just couldn't believe a dealer would even consider cutting his seatbelt clip off! Utter madness!
  5. I didn't really know where to post this but I had to tell! Whilst waiting for my car to be finished in the garage yesterday I heard a saleswoman talking to a guy at the service desk. The conversation went along these lines Sales "I've just brought a customers Roomster over from York, he has a seatbelt exemption certificate, can the seat belt warning be turned off, cos it'll bong the whole time he's driving?" Service "Err... right... get him to cut the clip off the seatbelt and just leave it plugged in" WTF?????
  6. I dropped the car off this morning. Behind the girl at the service desk was a big poster advertising just how fair DM Keiths are. On that poster was an advert that read: Free MOT's if you take out a service plan for the life of the service plan. Ooo good I thought. "So do I get a free MOT then seeing as though I've bought a service plan?" Reply (after some talking in the back room) "Err no you only get that if you buy a DM Keith service plan with a new car." "Yeah but a new car doesn't need an MOT for three years?" "Well you get a free one after the three years" Hmm - not that fair methinks. Utter rubbish I think. Got a lift back from the garage in a lovely old Felicia driven by some kid who insisted on holding the steering wheel at its base with only one hand. I say lovely, it was dirty and the drivers side window was off it's regulator and stuck open a quater. I made sure he didn't drop me off somewhere where I could be seen.
  7. Oil level warning light came on today - going in for a service tomorrow - that's not bad timing!

Took me a while to see this Ste, and the answer is I simply don't know!

  8. The Mrs is on L plates so we bought her a Ka for £500 and its somewhat cheaper to run. I can park it on the road and not have to worry about it too whilst my car lives 10mins away snug in the garage going nowhere. It's just easier and cheaper for me to use her car. I don't really need a car that much but I love having it! The problem is the cost of running it! I'm spending nearly £600 on it this month - not to mention the finance money too so that takes it up another few hundred - a lot of money for a car that doesn't go very far very often! But as I say, as soon as I got back behind the wheel today I fell back in love with it and remembered exactly what I'd been missing over the last few weeks! Anyway I've bought to services and just renewed my Freedom subs for this year so I'm not planning on letting her go without a fight!
  9. Well after almost two months the Octavia finally came out of hibernation today - and boy was I pleased to get behind the wheel again! I've been driving the Mrs' 2000 Ka for the last 7 weeks or so. That has it's quirks for sure and it's a little nippy, in fact I've become quite attached to it. However, the second I got back behind the wheel of the Octy today I felt as though I'd come back home. As soon as I saw a little room in the traffic I put my foot down and by god I was blown away - I'd forgotten just how good the performance was! I drove it around all day and thoroughly enjoyed it! I've got some driving to do in it this week and I'm looking forward to that. But then it'll be heading back into the garage for a while again and the next time it comes out maybe because I've decided to sell. I hope it doesn't come to that but needs must. If the car has to go I'm sure going to miss it!!
  10. WOW! Forgot how good my Octavia is! It's been so long!

      That's the spirit mate....enjoy!!

  11. Only a one more day and my Octy comes out from hibernation! It's only been a month and half!

  12. Well it's booked in to DK Keith Leeds - out of practicality more than anything - she quoted me a reasonable price until I mentioned the service offer which she then suddenly remembered about! So I'm going for the £299 two service deal - which includes my brake fluid doing. MOT's are indeed £45 - she'd never heard of doing a half price one. I did ask if she'd match the price of my local garage who charge £29 but she said she's have to ask the service manager; so we will see on that score
  13. She said that because I "need" brake fluid and pollen filter changing it wouldn't be worth my while. How much is a half price MOT btw?
  14. Well, so far Simpsons want £290 for 2nd service inc pollen filter and brake fuild change, DM Keith want £279 and Benfield want £248. I also rang an Harrogate Audi - "I'm sorry sir we only service Audi's" was the reply - harrumph! Edit: Leeds VW won't service a Skoda either!! WTF - Some VAG group badge snobbery going on??
  15. I know we have at least one member on here from NZ. My friend has just moved over there and wants to buy some detailing gear for his new car. He went out looking for AG stuff but couldn't find any. Does anyone know what decent stuff can be bought in the shops over there? He's in Aukland
  16. I use it quite a lot, it's easy to find in Asda etc, I use it as a quick detailer and drying aid and can't knock it really. I bought a spray bottle and buy the big bottle to refil.
  17. That sounds about right - not the price - the dealer having no idea!
  18. I don't know but I know that my friends Porker has it and he didn't know and had to get it 'woken up' before it would work again. He's on his hols atm so i can't ask him. He told me about it ages ago.
  19. I'll have to take it out soon, I have no access to tools or power but thankfully its parking place is warm and dry. Probably should have left the handbrake off though.
  20. I voted no because I want to vote for who I want to win. I don't want someone to win because I voted for them as my second or third choice. I don't want them to win which is why I voted them as 2nd or 3rd. AV just sounded nonsense! I want to vote for who I want to win and if they don't then so be it. IMHO.
  21. No I haven't been posting a lot lately - every now and again but I've been looking on the Ka side of things as that's the one that breaks on a daily basis!
  22. No problem, I paid £130 maybe more for the first service and they do jack all but change the oil and fart in a bag. Scandalous. I'd do it myself except I want a full Skoda service history. Oh and no - not just motoring but it's the one thing I really enjoy - the household bills constantly rising annoy me but nothing more than motoring. The fact that petrol has gone up so sharply in the past two years is just plain ridiculous, factor in everything else and I'm starting to have to reconsider owning this car. I'm going to be gutted to see it go but in the next 6 months I really don't see an alternative. I need to get this second service and it's first MOT done then she'll be ready for selling. I need to get the best price.
  23. Hi guys, well for one reason and another I haven't driven my Octavia for over a month now! It doesn't look like I'll be taking it out for a few more weeks yet and I was wondering if the car goes into a hibernation mode? I know some Porsches have this. Concerned I walked past it yesterday and unlocked and locked it again just to remind it that I'm still here and I still care! On another note it's covered in a thick layer of dust and I'm a 30 minute drive back to the 'rents house where the hosepipe is!!!
  24. The cost of motoring is really getting on my wick!!
