  1. Hello to you Alan, welcome on board!
  2. From what I've read you certainly aren't the only one waiting! Welcome along!
  3. Hi Scotty, and welcome along! I'm sure you'll find the forum rather helpful from time to time. Happy motoring!
  4. Or spill it all over your garage like I did - eh blu?!
  5. Smooth Hamerite is what I used for the green.
  6. Would like to see one on a pre FL white one. I think they look nice.
  7. Really? No innuendos?? Not even about the fact that you have a useless knob?? Sorry - couldn't help myself!
  8. TBH - not a clue! Probably doesn't but I believe that you can change between two as and when
  9. It's a change of oil and a look round - you pay pay for the stamp I think! My brake fluid was changed as it was due - but I did ask to make sure, and was included in the service deal. "If required" were my words - as in if your car doesn't need it it won't be done but if it does then it will - if you know what I mean.
  10. Well, the proof will be in the pudding so to speak but hopefully it's a winner!
  11. Its a car someone has bought for his son, he doesn't smoke but the previous owner did. I've heard about putting charcoal in it for a bit - anyone know about this?
  12. So; who knows how to get rid of the smell of stale cigarette smoke from a car then? (Not my car I wish to add!!)
  13. If it's anything like the vRS engine it'll be bugger to get off and will just involve a lot of wiggling and careful prising
  14. This deal is brand spanking new - and does include MOT's but the condition (I think) is that you can't take that straight away - only after 3 months has elapsed (why I don't know). I intially bought a service deal and didn't get any money off or free MOT's and it was only valid at DM Keith's. I asked about this on Monday. The woman at Bradford said that when I bought mine the deal was only for DM Keith's and was only for services. She then checked the computer and found my service deal was not on the system. She then rang Leeds where I had bought it to make sure that when they did put it on I get the VWFS one which is valid at any Skoda dealer and includes two free MOT's with the £700 MOT protection. The deal I thought was good anyway - a service inc brake fluid was £270; a standard service is over £100 so £299 for two services strikes me as good value. Now add two MOT's at £50 plus the protection and you're quids in I think. I'll update once I get my paperwork through but dealers are getting commission for selling these from VWFS so they're worth asking about methinks.
  15. Well I didn't know where else to post this for maximum impact, so mods feel free to move it, but as I have an Octy I thought I'd post it here first. Skoda, on behalf on VWFS, are currently offering a 2 service deal for £299. I bought one from DM Keith a couple of weeks ago but the offer has now improved and, I think, gone national. I checked today about mine, when I over heard the service lady at Bradford going over it with another customer - and as luck would have it - my details hadn't been put on the computer yet so I was assured that I will get this new and improved deal. Anyway - here is the deal - as far as I know 2 x Annual services 2 x MOT's 1st MOT protected up to the value of £700 on some parts inc perishable parts including things such as bulbs and wipers. She didn't know the full ins and outs but I was told to look out for some paperwork in the post over the next few weeks. The services can also be redeemed at any Skoda dealer
  16. I'd like to see them put more effort into making the engines greener, or at least get the CO2 figures down and the MPG figures up, especially in the more performance models. More stop start type technology is needed. But bonet gas struts, electric folding mirrors, 3 spoke MFSW on non DSG, bi xenons, keyless entry/start and probably some other stuff too but I can't bring anything else to mind!
  17. I've been meaning to put one of these on my pre-FL for ages. Do you need to know the part no or what year Cupra R does this splitter come from?
  18. I'll keep my eyes open for you when I'm out and about - although that isn't very often! And you are correct - it is CO not CO2 I just typed it without thinking. I'll be editing that. lol
  19. Well, first MOT well and truly passed this morning. One thing I did notice was just how low the emissions are. What comes out of the exhaust is practically fresh air! You are allowed 0.2% vol CO emissions on the fast idle - my car was producing just 0.003% Similar story with hydro carbons - the limit is 200ppm vol - my car - 0 - nothing. I think it's fair to say that modern engines are pretty efficient!
  20. I guess so - last time I needed an MOT was several years ago but I "needed" my headlights adjusting - that cost me £10! Plus the retest fee (if taken away) is £27.99. Plus the cheap fee gets people through the door so that'll make most more likley to go back. Thankfully I now know someone who works there now, so no spurious headlight adjustments next time!
  21. Exactly. I only go there because it's up the road and I get a nice shiny Skoda stamp in the book!
