  1. I use it too, very quick, can be used on black plastic but doesn't seem to remove water marks for some reason. Can recommend though, gives a nice shine. I also recommend Car Plan Seal and Protect for the paintwork after shining it. Makes it really easy to clean the next time and is so so easy to apply. By the wording on the bottle I'd say its a bit like Supagard and LifeShine etc. The turtle wax is about £12 and the protect and seal is around £8 from Motorworld.
  2. Noticed mine was low the other day. Is it on offer at Halfords or do you know something we don't??
  3. Thanks for the advice, I'll make sure I keep an eye on it. Just got the car back form dealer and indeed there was nothing wrong with it. Phew
  4. I did, it was pretty much all clear. Sounds like that's got to be a good sign!
  5. I went to top up the oil on my Octavia vRS TFSI this morning and to my horror there were signs of moisture in the oil  Not nice to see a milky residue on your oil cap on a Sunday morning. I took it straight down to my local Skoda dealer and have left it with them. I'm just hoping for a call tomorrow to say it's nothing more than condensation due to the cold snap and the fact I haven't driven it for 3 days and there's nothing to worry about. God forbid it's the head gasket after just 5000 miles!
  6. Just got a quote for my MkII vRS TFSI, they beat my renewal quote by almost £130!! I'm 24 with 4 years no claims no accidents no convictions. Their price with legal cover £711.99. Big thanks to them
  7. I've been a DM Keith Bradford user for a couple of years now just because they are closer to home with varying experiences. Just taken my new Octy vRS in for a knocking noise (they refit the OSR seat back) and asked for some leather cream and a locking wheel nut cap. Emma on the service desk is not someone I've met before but she was very polite, rang me to tell me they had the parts and again when my car was ready. The best service I've had yet although I had to pay £10 insurance waver on the courtesy car, something I've never had to do before. The leather cream was left in my car but I could tell it had been previously opened by a mechanic with grubby fingers! Couldn't be bothered to challenge that as it was full and overall I was happy. I was also happy when I bought my MkI Octy vRS, my p/x car was out of tax but my reg transfer hadn't come through, they very kindly leant me a very well specced Fabia estate. However; when I bought my MkI Octy vRS I had a number of problems with the car which DM Keith Bradford just could never fix, something to do with the turbo and another a knocking noise in the heater (although they did diagnose I needed a new anti roll bar which they replaced foc) and eventually I ended up having to take it to DM Keith Wakefield - they fixed the problem straight away. I must have driven every Skoda in the range I was taking my car back that often. Finally (when the car was fixed and some months later) I took it for an MOT and it came out with a scratch on the NS sill. Unfortunately I didn't notice this until I got home but thankfully it polished out - lucky! They also don't wash your car very often, and when they do it isn't a very good job and the windscreen doesn't clear well after they do wash it - so the last time I took my car in a I requested they did not wash it, and they didn't. So that was good. Some of the sales staff seem nice, others a little off putting but I've found that in most places. Then again it is their job to sell people cars.
  8. Don't bother with the paint protection, waste of money; I bought some Car Plan Protect and Seal from motor world for about £7, does the same thing for a fraction of the cost, needs to be applied after waxing and lasts around 6 months it says. It helps keep dirt from sticking and helps keep it looking shiney. As for GAP I've bought insurance for my last two cars from www.click4gap.com and have found the service quick and easy. Never had to make a cliam though thankfully but it's half the price of the dealer.
  9. I've had two Octavia vRS's, a mark 1 and now a mark 2. My silver mark 1 was a great car, the power came in big lumps and it was always a pleasure to beat little chavs in their Corsa's who thought "Pah - a Skoda". I never tired of smiling in those situations. It was also very economical for the type of vehicle. My white mark 2 is also a great car, more accomplished than the mark 1, smoother under acceleration and more comfortable. They have more soul than the boring VW Golf and less money. Audi engineering for Skoda money - you can't go wrong.
  10. No worries Ste, would be happy to give you hand if needed. I've given to nav a little go this morning and it works ok, no full postcode search or touch screen so plently of twiddling nobs! So far so good tho. I'll let you know in a few weeks or so how it's going.
  11. This morning I have fitted my recently purchased MFD2 unit in my new Octy RS. I bought the unit for a very good price from navigation.corp off eBay. The unit works really well. So I guess he can be counted as a trust worthy seller. Although the item was received from Germany and not the UK as advertised and took about 9 days to be delivered to my door. A HUGE thank you to VRStu for his pictorial and fitting instructions on his website. As mine is a post 2007 model I had to fiddle with the wiring, again a big thanks to Stu for his instructions - I would never have known how to go about any of the work without your help. Columbus next; well, one day maybe when I have some money!
  12. Had a go with mine on the maxi dot, the lights flash no matter if the beep is turned on or off, so, over to the experts!
  13. Does it beep when you lock it and do you have a maxidot? If so you can play around with the beep noise but I dont honestly know if this would stop the the indicator flash when locking. I'll have a play around with mine, see what happens
  14. Hello, I've been a member for probably a lot longer than I think (so much so I'm now on my 2nd Octavia RS!) but haven't yet said hi. So - hi!! I used to have an 03 Silver Octavia vRS and have just moved onto a lovely 2008 Octavia vRS 2.0 TFSI in white. Only mod so far is a K&N panel filter which I was able to fit thanks to help from members of this site - so thanks for that! The car was a DM Keith demo so it already had Xenons, rear park sensors and maxidot computer, it also came with the 18in wheels, jumbo box, rear electric windows and climatronic. I really would like the RNS 510 sat nav - very smart - but very pricey! Anyway, thats enough about me!
  15. I used to get a few responses to waves/flashes in my mk 1 silver vRS but havent seen many new ones about.

I'm always washing the bloody the bloody thing! Thankfully I get days off during the week so I get chance to keep it shining!! I once had a black car and that was terrible, the white isn't as bad to be honest. I got some Car Plan seal & protect nano stuff (currently half price at motorworld

  16. I guessed the owner of the rather smart looking vRS with the cool number plate who I saw on Baildon Road the week had to be on here! Nice to know I'm not the only briskodian from Baildon on here. I own the new white vRS K2WAC, you may see me round the village some time. Happy motoring!

  17. Hi, I had a similar problem with my old Octy vRS, a simple way to remedy the problem on a daily basis I just ran the car on idle for about 2 minutes until the engine had warmed a little and the revs dropped below 10000rpm. Then it ran fine. Obviously this doesn't fix anything but it took away the hesitation.
  18. Can anyone tell me what part number the K&N filter is for the new Octvia RS petrol? And does anyone know how to get to the air filter??!! I can't work it out!
