  1. I joined a long, straight single carrigeway 'National Speed Limit Applies' road from a roundabout behind a 1.6 Zafira which then tootled along @40 (ish) so, held back, checked my mirrors - all clear apart from a small hatchback so far behind I couldn't recognise it. Dropped a cog or two & floored it past the Zafira, looked in rear view mirror and, yes, there is the Zafira receeding nicely & then I was overtaken like I was standing still by a green hatchback, ('M' reg I think) never saw him in the rears - he was just a blur. Must have been well into three figures. Gobsmacked that anything could go like that. Gobsmaked again that anyone would drive like that on a public road - or am I just jealous, don't know. Impressive though.
  2. Mater, What's the display in the top LH corner? Never seen it on my Maxidot
  3. LOL at "lenzie" comments. I share an office with a "lenzie" (it could even be the same guy!) & got a load of stick when I turned up in my Furby SE + sheds more when I got the Octy vRS. He won't even park next to the Skoda It all stopped when his (very) low mileage Vectras gearbox self destructed a couple of days after the warranty expired & the dealer didn't want to know. He paid just short of £3k to fix it, sold it & bought another Vectra !!!!!!!! Every so often I 'bait' him with e-mail links to the Skoda home page, JDPower Surveys, briskoda.net & put Skoda marketing brouchures in his 'In' tray Well, it passes the time
  4. Seldom get an acknowledgement from Octy vRS drivers, but sometimes get a response from Fab vRS, still going to keep trying though. So if you're in Lancashire & get waved at by an old bloke in a Blue Octy vRS or Fabia vRS - it's me........ please wave back !!!!!
  5. This doesn't happen to me, but Mrs Cavdad gets all the time, mainly from young Scrotes (Scroats) in Saxos / Corsas trying to proove something. She laughs it off & leaves 'em standing but it's annoying as she won't go above the speed limit they're soon back; maybe they just like seeing what a real car can do
  6. Had a late model Cavalier 1.7TD for 14yrs ,140,000 miles & apart from a brake servo failure @2k miles & a dead immobiliser @102k miles it was the most reliable motor I ever owned. When it's time came, went to two Vauxhall dealers & basically said give me a deal on a new equivalent Vectra & a hot(ish) hatch for Mrs Cavdad. Neither of the two dealerships could be bothered to get me a car to the spec I wanted & didn't even ask for my details, So off we went to see what Mr Skoda could offer as we had never considered buying a Skoda. Best move we ever made. Could not be happier with either of the two motors we bought. Sure puts the fun back into driving
  7. The Wifes Chrysler Grand Voyager (2 tons, 7 seats, 3ltr, 3-speed Auto, was givin, 10ish mpg Sooooooo bought a vRS because it is totally FUN, FUN, FUN to drive. The sales guy described it as a road legal Go-Kart, which just about sums it up. We got an SE so it's also very well equipped. Totally understated & anonymous (Best parts about owning a vRS is the look on the faces of drivers of Audi, BMW, boy racers in Saxo's / Corsa's etc as they rapidly fall behind when I hoof it,) Economy (59mpg) & a really good dealer. I STILL get a grin EVERY time I drive it Liked it so much I got myself an Octy vRS diesel. Totally different to drive, but another stonkin' motor
  8. Vrs LE with 18k, getting 59mpg. Mainly school runs & 'A' roads; v. little m'way & the occaisional burn off of one of the local 'Chav Mobiles'. Can get mid 70's drivin' like Miss Daisy
  9. Yep, DPF TDIs need a good blast to clear the PDF - mine hates doing the school run & pottering in traffic & will clog up after 3 or 4 days but clears pretty soon at motorway speeds. My dealer actually quizzed me on the type of driving I did before purchase
  10. I have a '57 Diesel Vrs. Without doubt, the best vehicle I've ever owned - only 'niggle' is it doesn't like a lot of pottering around town / lots of stop start driving which causes the DPF warning light to come on & then it needs a blast of 10 -15 miles on the motorway.
