  1. My Superb has been attacked by the local roads (aka surface of the moon) and has a broken front spring. Are the springs on a Superb with adjustable suspension the same as non-adjustable? It's a 2017 220Tsi SE L Executive. Thanks.
  2. What's involved in fitting the larger (and all round ventilated) brakes from a 280 to a 220?
  3. My 2017 SE Executive has the same problem, albeit intermittently. I don't know the solution!
  4. When I went out to the car (220 Executive) this morning all the windows were open by about 2 or 3 inches. They were shut when I left it last night. This is the first warm(ish) day since I bought the car - 19.5C. Is there some setting in Climatronic which cracks open the windows to cool the car when it gets warm? Climantronic is set to 18C. I can't see any mention in the handbook.
  5. Hi all. I can't change the Maxidot display on my SE Executive. When you turn on the ignition it shows the phone settings. If you click the menu button on the steering wheel the only option that comes up is the front driver aid and all you can do to that is disable it. No other options come up, even when you turn the right hand wheel control on the steering wheel. Any ideas?
  6. Done by Jim Curley at Star Performance at Dysart in Fife. They've been on the go for many years. I had my Octavia VRS done there back in 2005 and decided to go back with the Superb. Excellent value at £350 including a run on their 4 wheel rolling road.
  7. 285bhp and 448Nm. It was pretty fast to begin with but now, wow! Need better tyres, though. I'll do that after the holiday.
  8. Thanks for the comments so far - very helpful. The car is remapped - it has 285bhp and 448Nm and can currently trigger the traction control on a damp road at 60mph - yes, a 4x4 would have been nice, but I couldn't find one in my price range! I'll have to decide between an all-weather or a good summer tyre. I'm now retired, so don't make too many longish journeys. However, the in-laws live in Inverness which is 150 miles away on the A9 over a 1514 feet summit at Drumochter!
  9. Took it to see that nice man Jim Curley at Star Performance in Dysart (Fife). I am well pleased with the result!
  10. I've just bought a nice 17 plate Superb 220 SE Executive. It is fitted with RoadX tyres which are a Chinese brand. They aren't very good in the wet... Any recommendations for decent ones? I'm thinking Michelin or Goodyear. Size is 235/45/18.
  11. I've just bought a nice 2017 Superb 220 SE Executive. It goes well, but as a died in the wool power junkie, I want more power! I live in Central Scotland, so can anyone recommend a good remapper? I don't want to make any mechanical changes, just a map. Thanks in advance.
  12. As thread title. When did this change take place - year/registration? Thanks.
  13. I'm considering buying a second hand Superb 280 or 272. A couple of questions for those in the know: 1. Does the 272 come with a 7 speed gearbox rather than 6 speed and which is the better/stronger? 2. I am allergic to standard cars...what initial stages of engine/gearbox tuning have other members tried? The Revo stage 1 seems very well priced. TIA Alan
  14. How do you remove the plastic shell from a Mk1 Octavia door mirror? The Haynes manual is as helpful as usual 😞 I've got the glass out okay, but don't see how to separate the shell from the rest of the mirror.
  15. My elderly vRS (178,000 miles) started flashing the low oil pressure light after a long run. I assumed that it was the usual 1.8T blocked oil pickup problem so booked it in to my local garage and ordered up a pickup pipe and, since an OEM oil pump was only about £50, one of them as well. Job got done today and all is well. However, they reported that the oil pump was loose on the block. I've owned the car from new and the oil pump has never been replaced. Has anyone else experienced this? It's not a problem I have heard of before.
  16. Anyone know the part number for the front headlamp range sensor for a 2004 vRS hatch with xenon lights? It's the thingy thats fixed to the body with a link to the left wishbone. Thanks
  17. The rear wiper motor on Darth has finally died at 14 years and 162,000 miles. I bought what I thought was the correct one from Ebay. It fits, but there are two problems: 1. There is no connection on the spindle for the washer pipe - only a spray nozzle. 2. It doesn't switch off. It keeps wiping intermittently until you turn the ignition off. I suspect it may be for another model - any thoughts?
  18. Yes, there was a big bang. Still don't know what caused it! Bloody unreliable Skoda. 148000 miles and something does wrong!
  19. My vrs has knackered its gearbox. I've had a replacement fitted, but wonder what could have happened. At the circled area on the attached photo (of a non-knackered one..), the round alloy plate/cover has sheared off. Any ideas?
  20. Well, my 54 plate VRS is still well and truly on the road!
  21. I had the Valeo conversion fitted last week as my clutch was shagged after 123500 miles. The DMF was actually OK, but I didn't want to take the chance. Pedal is now a lot lighter and I switched the remap on again for the first time in nearly a year!
  22. Hi Craig Welcome. Just along the M9 in Stirling.
  23. TMS Motor Spares, but they're a Scottish chain. I've bought from them before and they have a rack in stock at my local branch.
  24. Well, I've discovered that a local factor beats any online supplier so that's sorted
