Windows opening themselves

Featured Replies

When I went out to the car (220 Executive) this morning all the windows were open by about 2 or 3 inches. They were shut when I left it last night. This is the first warm(ish) day since I bought the car - 19.5C. Is there some setting in Climatronic which cracks open the windows to cool the car  when it gets warm? Climantronic is set to 18C. I can't see any mention in the handbook.

It's most probably an inadvertent prolonged push of the 'open' button on your fob. Do you keep your keys in your pocket at home?

The car is not that smart as to pre heat / cool the car when it is locked up.  (There are such cars now though.)

So as @john999boysaid, or the car had a brain fart, or as some say is not possible but is,

another vehicle sent a signal, taxi, utilities or similar.  It was a road work crews van that opened the windows on my Alhambra.

Still hoping to find what sets my car back to factory settings & means i have to use a key to open the door,

which has happened when i park near the A77 at a certain spot and only there.

Not sure you can open all four windows via the key fob, or maybe i set mine to front only, but i sure dont remember that i did, or did i :D anyways, if there is such settings in the mib, then it could be true, but otherwise i think its not the key to blame this time!

It is possible to open/close all 4 windows simultaneously via key fob by longer pressing of unlock/lock button.

I'm pretty sure you can, and I'm sure I unticked a setting in the infotainment unit to disable it because I've walked out of the house on a morning in the past to find all windows fully open on my old 2006 Vectra so was quick to disable this on my Superb.

I went through a phase of accidentally opening the boot by squishing the keys when putting on my shoes in the morning. I now leave the keys out of my pocket during such activity 😆

Will look tomorrow, i wasnt sure if i did tinker with it in the MIB settings, cheers for the info that you can disable it alltogheter!

I find the feature (open/close windows remotely) very very handy and use it a lot.

If u don't like it - u can turn it off in the "Opening and Closing settings" in the Car Settings.  Change the Window operation "Convenience Opening" to either Off, All Windows, or just the Driver's window.

I agree with @JR RS, I find it's great to quickly open all windows (and in my case sunroof) before getting in the car if it's been parked in the sun on really hot days.

Interesting, as you mention All, drivers and off, mine opens only the front, both sides via remote, and ill check later to see if i have the same options as do you!

True, if you dont mind the insects, thats why i opted for the webasto/and stationary venting, so i dont have to open them, as here you do have a lot of critters during summer, and opening the windows is really a last resort!

Figured it out, had mine on all, but, my childlock was on for the back, so that must override the all, hence it opens only front both!
