  1. Last night someone broke into my car and stole my Bolero. With this occasion I ordered a new Columbus unit. Now,I have a few questions. 1.Will the old wires match the new unit?(I think the navigation won't be working, but will the MFSW buttons,Maxi-Dot display,Climatronic/PDC display work?) 2.Does the car have the GPS antenna already mounted or I have to buy one? 3.If I buy one of those TV antenna, will the TV work? 4.Is there something else I need to buy to make it fully operational?(Any other cables or adaptors?)Or do I need to do some adaptions using VCDS? BTW I don't have bluetooth,so I won't need any new wires or adaptors for that. Thanks.
  2. Overall,if this is a fault I think it can be fixed with a small Vag-Com coding,I don't think there is a fault at those buttons,I'm 90% sure that they are working like they should,it's just that the module rejects the storing command.
  3. I am thinking that the backrest has a vertical limit so that the WOKS(that Whiplash) system is more efficient. When the backrest is in vertical position, your head is very close to the head restraint.
  4. In the Romanian Skoda Car Configurator,if you look at the Elegance standard equipment, you can see as a feature the electric passenger seat without the storrage box.So the electric seats probably need that space for motors or wires.

  6. Tomorrow I'll buy a new one, this one will go to trash,it's damaged pretty much.
  7. I am not very sure how to say it in english, but I'll try.The electric engine has that long, thin metal piece that is moving(rotating),that rotor. On the part where it gets out of the engine it is surrounded by a piece of rubber.Well, that piece of rubber is not anymore in it's normal place.I want to put it back, but to do that,I need to get the propeller out and i have no idea how to do that. The propeller has a round piece of metal in it's center surrounded by a metal ring.
  8. A few days ago I heard a noise coming from under the bonnet.Today I did an inspection and I found out that the noise is coming from the electric fan that can be seen in front of the car.I took it out of there, but there is a problem.I can't find any way to disassemble the propeller. It is "glued" to the electric motor.Any suggestions? It is a squeaky sound. Now,If I rotate the propeller it doesn't make any sound, but if I press the propeller against the electric motor it starts to make that noise.
  9. 1.yes,the fuel pump , that what the dealers told me, but i was not sure if it's supposed to be on non-stop 2. It's not a bearing, the noise is coming from the windshield
  10. 1.When i turn the key in the 2nd position, not sure how it's called(That one before the engine start),some noises can be heard, some pumps or something, the xenon "calibration",and the seatbelt warning. After 5-6 seconds all these noises are gone except one.I can hear a noise like a pump(that rattle is not very loud),but it doesn't stop even if I'm keeping the key in that position for 10 minutes...that noise will be there forever. Is it normal?I asked at the dealer but they said it's some kind of a pump.I tried this on an Octavia II and on an Audi A4,but in both of them, after 4-8 seconds all these noises are gone. 1.9 Tdi,90bhp,ALH engine. 2.I have a whistle that can be heard at high speed. It's not the turbo of course This night I opened the window, and I could hear the noise even at low speeds.Could it be caused by the wipers?I changed them about 2 months ago and I first noticed the sound about 1 month ago. Also,I found who was causing the rattle when my engine was at 2000 rpm.It was that stick that holds the bonnet when you lift it.It was touching that big metal panel between the headlights.
  11. Could you tell me the part no for the kit from the dealer? Thanks.
  12. 3.I will try to fix the wheel problem tomorrow. 5.I discovered that this noise was caused by that panel under the wheel because it was touching the door,I'll have a look tomorrow and I will fix it. 6.That noise in the trunk is caused by the trunk lock,I used a spray on that lock and the sound has almost disappeared, but I'll have a look tomorrow,I'll disassemble it and I'll oil the whole mechanism.
  13. The spray name was something like that, anyway,I'll change the belt very soon. Regarding the aerial,it isn't broken, but I'm very sure that the noise is coming from come cables, and now I'm pretty sure it's the aerial cable.Any idea how to remove that piece of "carpet" to reach the cable, and how to stick it back?
  14. I'm sure it's the cambelt, that guy used a spray...but I can't remember it's name :| Regarding the wheel,I would like to put it back on with the correct alignment, but I don't know the correct procedure. KenONeill, the first noise is a very common one,I know about 5 forum friends from my country that have the same problem.it looks like it is caused by some wires underneath that material that covers the roof on the inside part of it.The material that is covering the part of the roof that is over our heads. Is an Octavia I,Elegance model,ALH 1.9 TDI
  15. 1.There is a noise in the "ceiling"(not sure how to call it),that piece that covers the roof on the interior. The sound comes from the back-left side. How can I fix this? 2.A noise from the engine timing belt when I first start the car in the morning. It's like "fss-fss-fss",and it dissapears when the engine warms up.The Timing Belt has 4 years and only 37.000 miles.I had this noise before and a guy from Skoda Service used a spray on the belt, but now, after 10.000 miles I can gear again the sound.Any idea where can I find such a spray? 3.I installed a cruise control stalk, but I got pretty confused using the manual. And now the steering wheel is not in the 0 position when the wheels are,and beside that, the steering wheel is touching the plastic cover covering the stalk.Any idea how can I "reset" the steering wheel? 4.I got a rattling noise at exactly 2000rpm,a metalic noise that comes from the engine, can't tell exactly where from.I'm pretty scared about this sound. 5.I also got a noise that can be heard even at the smallest bump,a noise coming from the windshield,it's a noise like a glass is touching a plastic panel. 6.Another noise that is coming from the trunk.Actually...I think it comes from that piece that is covering the trunk when you close the tailgate. The piece that is hanging from the tailgate when this one is open. 7.And the last one.Maybe you noticed,or maybe not,but when you close the windows(at least at the electric ones),the window goes up,and when it reaches his top position,it is pushed a little bit to the exterior of the car,so that the window will push on those rubber strips to reduce the noise coming from the outside. Now,my noise is only coming when the window is being pushed outwards,it's a cracking noise. If you have any idea or suggestions for any of these problems let me know.Thank you.
  16. The brake pedal switch is 100% good.I'll try tomorrow to remove the fuse to see if I'll still get those changing digits in VAG-COM,if I won't it means that the fuse is ok,and the wiring to the fuse is also ok. The only thing I'm afraid of is the possibility that one of the 4 wires got out of that 10-pin connector,or maybe there is an imperfect contact between the pins,I'll check that tomorrow too.Any idea what's the "job"(not sure how to say it) of each of those 4 pins? That way maybe I could track the problem. I also found something about Vacuum System that may cause problems!?Is there any possibility in my octavia? If so,is there a way to check? And again, should there be a light to indicate when cruise control is on? Later edit I managed to make it work. The problem was at the 9th pin wire, the white wire.It wasn't a good connection between the pins,so I cut the white wire from both connectors and stick it back together using some insulating tape.I managed to spot the problem using VAG-COM as that 5th changing digit was all the time 0 and it was supposed to be 1 while Cruise Control was turned on.Thank you for your help.
  17. I received a wire.At one end it has a connector that goes in the cruise control stalk. At the other end it has 4 wires(that goes in that black 10-pin connector,blue-pin 1,red/yellow-pin 2,black/yellow-pin 3,white-pin 9),and it also has a wire blue/black I think that went to the fusebox at fuse number 5.It's a diesel engine,so I think that's all, isn't it?
  18. Since I can see on VAG COM a change from 0 to 1 everytime I press a specific button on the stalk,I guess connections are ok.I checked the Octavia manual, and the pins are identical to those from Seat. Now I just found this: Engine Module Meas.Blocks Group 006 (test with ignition switch on),third cell Right cruise control system 6 digit display has a 1, left to right, when: Clutch operated Brake pedal operated Resume speed operated on the switch Acceleration operated on the switch Cruise control and memory switched off Cruise controll system switched on In my situation First digit changes to 1 when i push clutch. Second changes to 1 when i push brake pedal. Third changes to 1 when I hit the RES button. 4th changes to 1 when I hit the SET button. 6th changes to 1 when I turn to ON. Problem is that the 5th digit is always 0,it never turns to 1.
  19. Right now I am with a laptop in my car.I have G400SG,so it's enabled.Brake switch it's ok,because I don't see any light on the dashboard, the brake lights are on only if I press the pedal, and I don't see any trouble code.Cluch switch is ok,since I can see it changing from 0 to 1 when I push the pedal. I installed it after the Seat Leon manual, but I read the Octavia manual right now and I saw that the wiring is identical.Fuse no 5 in the fusebox is ok.
  20. I just installed a cruise control on my Octavia I,1.9 TDi,ALH engine. The problem is that the cruise control isn't working. 1.I put it on the ON position. 2.I enabled it using Vag-Com,and at the engine module, meas.blocks, channel 6 I can see a 0 under Cruise Control(so it's enabled using that login code),I can see 1 if I swith on the ON position, and 17 if I push the brake pedal. 3.Also,on the 6th channel of the meas.blocks,in the third cell,I can see 6 numbers, mostly all are 0.The first one becomes 1 if i push the clutch, second one becomes 1 if I push the brake pedal, third one if I push one of the buttons that are on the stalk, and the 4th one becames 1 if I push the other one(SET,RES buttons, nut sure which represents the 3rd number and which represents the 4th one). The 5th number is all the time 0,and the 6th one is all the time 1. Also I am curious if a light should come up on the dashboard when I enable cruise control. My octavia is an Elegance version if that helps. I really don't understand where the problem is.I tried using it at 30km/h up to 150km/h,but it isn't working. The brake pedal switch is new.I should also state that the cruise control stalk is for a seat leon tdi,but I don't think this is a problem since all the stalk buttons are functioning(I can see that in VAG COM).Any ideas or suggestions?
  21. It's a button inside the glovebox that either fully covers the cold air outlet or it fully "opens" that cold air outlet.I'm not sure if that air has the same temperature as the one you set on the climatronic but I remember when I saw it...the whole glovebox(the plastic) was very very cold.I never got inside another Octavia beside mine...so I can't tell you more as I only saw that cooled glovebox once in my life
  22. The one I saw had a separate button to set the glovebox temperature,it was a round graded button :P
  23. I saw some Octavias with cooled glovebox, mine was supposed to have it too,but when I took the car from the dealer... there was only a normal glovebox.I am curious about this retrofit too.
  24. I found some procedures on the internet but I couldn't solve the problem. If anyone could help me by telling how to reset that fully closed position...Thanks in advance.
  25. I got a little problem with my Octavia Mk1,i'm not sure if it's a problem or not,but when one of the front windows is closed and I push the button to make sure that the window is closed i can hear a very strange sound,it's like the little electric engine is struggling to close that window even more. All 4 windows are electrical powered, but for example,If one of the back windows is closed and I try to "close it more" I can hear a little click and nothing more,it's like for the back windows I have some king of "sensor" which feels that the window is already closed so the electric engine won't try to close it more.I hope you understand what I mean This is my first post,I've been watching this forum every day since may 2008 and I saw many interesting things in here...so keep it up,you're doing a great job.
