  1. My car was ordered on 31 July with delivery expected sometime from mid Sept to mid Oct. The build was then delayed by the sunroof problem (it is a 170CR DSG with options). My dealer advised me last week that the build week is now showing as week 52, so delivery will be sometime in January. It seems that at one stage the build week was being quoted as far out as February, but has been pulled back a bit. It all seems in a state of flux. I originally ordered the car during the previews so that I would avoid any delays that might result from orders taken at the 'official launch date'.
  2. Thought this might be of interest ......... 911uk.com - Porsche UK Enthusiast Site :: View topic - Superb, New Limo ? Chris
  3. I agree with you jambo. My current Superb has a black interior and carpets. I ordered ivory with black carpets after seeing the combination in some demo Jags - where it seems to have been in use for some time.
  4. Email address: [email protected] Ask your dealer for the UK Commission Number (order number) and quote it in your email.
  5. You're not alone. I ordered a 170dsg with most toys (incl solar sunroof excl sunset) on 30 July - originally in the hope of avoiding an MOT, and having to renew tax as well. I ended up getting the car mot'd, fortunately it only cost £25 - and I will reclaim unused tax. My dealer was willing to give me a car but I decided to continue to use my own meantime. I don't waste my time with SUK customer services any more; they create problems, they don't solve them. Info-line at Skoda cz is far more helpful and efficient than SUK. Try asking them what is going on.
  6. Rosso Brunello started life as 'Grenade Metallic' and the dealers had swatches with that name on them. sexy eh! Somebody in marketing must have woken up and changed it. New name sounds like 'redy brown' to me (don't know the real translation) but that reminds me of rust. I wondered about colours but the pics that sold it for me were these Gallery :: SkodaHome.cz - Nová ?koda Superb Let the site properly download and doubleclick on the first thumbnail - then it autoruns. These pics have been used elsewhere. Rosso Brunello seems to me to be a bit of a chamelion colour - it changes according to the quality and intensity of the light so the colour looks (very) different (to my eyes) in different lighting and weather conditions. With a black interior it does look very dark (especially on a dark wet day) - but with an Ivory interior - lots of dealers rave about that combination and colour contrast. Still think it's boring? Do you not think it's a strong colour that changes the look of the car. Would be good to see it side by side with a Satin Grey. C
  7. I asked a banker the best way to go about this a week ago. The answer was arrange a 'CHAPS' transfer (think that's the right name - check with the bank), if the transfer is made before 2.30pm funds are usually in your account that day. Check the money has cleared before releasing keys. Better still is pay the money into a branch of your own bank and transferred in front of you. Once the money is accepted and a transfer arranged you don't need to worry about counterfeits. C If you walk into a bank with a wadge and its not normal for you then they might start to ask questions due to money laundering legislation.
  8. If you want to add an option to your order you can't leave it as late as 3 weeks before the build date - although I understand that has been the general rule in the past (some say there was a sliding scale from 6 down to 3 weeks depending upon what the change is). I tried to add rear window sun blinds to my order about 6 weeks before the build week and it was rejected by SUK. I'm not sure if there was a computer issue or if the factory embargoed changes to allow them to switch production to UK models in the hope they could bring forward orders. One of the dealers has told me recently that this applies to all models and not just the Superb. It seems the only way to be sure you'll get an option is to include it in the initial order. C
  9. I was advised that factory fit towbar preparation (mainly electrics) is strongly recommended as there are a lot of cables about the rear end. Although (some?) dealers apparently now have some basic accessories in stock (i.e. rear window sunblinds was mentioned to me) the towbars are not yet available. C
  10. There is more about this in the pdf at skoda-auto.com When I asked question of my dealer, he phoned Dealer Support and they said to refer to that pdf for information - even though its not part of the UK spec. C
  11. Nets: There was a video of a crash test on TV some months back showing what happened to a 'loose' toolbox sitting in the boot. The crash was only at 30 or 40mph. The box forced itself straight through the vertical split in the rear seats - and spanners and other tools flew everywhere in the cabin. It was really quite scary to see. It wouldn't be quite so bad with something lighter with more rounded edges. I've never had nets in a car before but after seeing that video I've ordered them. They will reduce the impact speed of anything trying to get through or between the rear seats in the event of a crash. Everyone thinks about front end, or sides, and air bags - nobody mentions things coming at you from behind. C
  12. Does anyone have any 'recent / current' feedback from dealers on how long the delay is likely to be on their order? Any examples? There is some sort of issue with both the sunroof options and they cannot be ordered at the moment. C
  13. Your right there - but can you rely upon the brochure! Any brochure! I explored whether it was possible because of information contained in the main pdf brochure at www.Skoda-Auto.com Extreme bottom left of p31 talks of 'dark floor panelling' (i.e. carpets). I ordered a car with it some weeks ago. C
  14. You can order the ivory interior with dark carpets. C
  15. Accessories Brochure attached (never tried attaching pdf's before so here goes). See pages 11 for Independent Heating and 23 for Drive Locking System (photo 4). Not much info given about either. Independent Heating:Pre-heats car on frosty days before firing up the engine. Diesels getting too expensive to leave the car running for 15 minutes to defrost the windows - or maybe you want to save the planet and avoid pollution. I've already broken the winder mechanism on my existing Superb due to the windows being iced up around the seals - although there was no sign of 'frost' on the glass. I want to avoid paying to get the same problem fixed on the new car - would rather spend the money on the accessory and get some use out of it. This 'should' also help avoid any problems with the locks being frozen up or any of the door 'handle' mechanisms freezing up due to lack of grease. I've had that problem on my Superb in the past as well. I've found a 'larger' illustration of the photo in the new Superb brochure on some sort of incomplete Octavia brochure on the net, which is attached. Mechanical Drive Locking System:This is a 'lock' on the gearbox as an extra security feature. (Don't know if the engine will fire up when the lock is on - if it does it would prevent drive-offs IF you walk away from the car with the engine running while it defrosts!! So it's an extra security feature to stop you're nice new Superb being nicked. This is available (according to the accessories brochures!!) on the existing Superb, Fabia, Octavia, Roomster etc. Hope that helps. Has anyone had experience in using these? If anyone is interested in these please write to Skoda saying so or phone Customer Services and tell them you want them - let the rest of us know when you've done so. Thanks. 16. Both the above are currently shown in the Accessories Brochure that can be downloaded from www.skoda-auto.com [by inference they are 'dealer fitted options' as opposed to 'factory fitted' - the False Boot Floor is also shown in the brochure and is of course now offered as a 'factory fitted' option for the UK. Just to confuse.] Skoda's Info-line [[email protected]] have told me that: 1. Independent Heating: Is currently available in the Czech Republic as a 'factory fit option' 2. Mechanical Drive Locking System: This is also currently available in the Czech Republic - although it is not clear if this is a factory fit or dealer fitted accessory. If anyone is interested in having these options in the UK (maybe you intend to order soon or have a car in the pipeline) then it seems that you need to make sure the 'right person' is aware of the interest at SUK. That person appears to be the 'Technical Liaison Manager' for the New Superb - who appears to be Steven Whitcombe. He is based at: Skoda Auto Ltd, Yeomans Drive, Blakelands, Milton Keynes, MK14 5AN
  17. There's a thread about this somewhere. What was said before is that if you switch the 'ignition on' (not the engine) and put the car in reverse, you can hear a ticking sound from a defective sensor if you put your ear near it. I had a problem with a continuous beep a while back and thought a sensor had failed. Tried the above - and heard nothing. Then decided to give the sensors a good wash in case there was any surface grime causing an issue - despite the fact there was nothing to see. That solved the problem. A few months back I gave the car a good clean and waxed it. I've now found that when it is quite wet and there are beads of water on the sensors I sometimes get a continuous beep. This clears up when it is dry again. I'm about to try putting Rain-X on the sensors to see if it will stop any water beading on the sensor surface.
