SOS fault?
Thanks all for the advice and suggestions. I'm just wandering if it's certain situations that triggers this SOS, like areas you drive through, in the airwaves. Instance, strange things started to happen with my alarm on an outbuilding, it was since they installed new phone masts. I had to cloak the alarm with foil to stop the alarm triggering. Leaving an android device connected to data triggered the alarm in my Mazda if it was left in the car and it was locked/alarmed. Anyways food for thought all this hassle with tech stuff.

SOS fault?
Thanks for the info, I think I've read you post on it before. Do you actually know what's to be fixed/replaced and cost? Most of the posts I've read when searching this doesn't really say parts what parts replaced or costs involved. Thanks

SOS fault?
So everything was going along fine with my Kamiq (20 plate SEL petrol DSG) for 3 months when up popped the SOS fault on the dash. Apparently it can be random and no certain things will trigger it, I think. Mine triggered around 3 weeks ago, done around 1500 miles trouble free. Then again yesterday as I pulled away from a shopping trip, it's very random. So having searched (I usually try and find answers first from a search) I found this... "fault in the telematics module B20004B - cntrl module faulty' That was on a 21 plate Octavia, it seems common on VAG group vehicles. I can't seem to see a definitive answer or fix, I don't want to go chasing and paying a fortune out for a dealer to say, yep we'll swap out this and that without knowing it will fix it. Ideas what to look at first, is it owner fixable or not, I only have an OBD2 basic scanner? Cheers

Is the Karoq 1.5 DSG any good
Just go for it, I did after 50 years driving manuals only. Can't say what the Karoq DSG is like to drive, I bought a Kamiq DSG (1ltr) and loving it. I use mine mainly in D mode, it's very smooth and have learned to use Sport mode when I need that quick boost of speed on twisty roads, hills or overtaking. I'm a novice really driving this DSG, only around 3 months in but loving it.

Reversing camera
It looks like and does the same job as the Sinosmart cam but the price😮 They do have a free returns on your first order, just my opinion return and buy the Sinosmart cam, you want option CAM B.

Tell us which brand of camera you bought. I've got the Sinosmart and it works perfectly with the display, seen pics I put up earlier in this thread.

Corroded rear discs
I can't agree with you on your first point, they seem poorer quality than I'd expect on a car, new or otherwise. Yes many owners who visit dealers for servicing or wherever don't always get a brake service each year, it's probably not on the service schedule to actually strip/clean and thoroughly check annually anyway. I've asked for dealers to actually remove the wheels and do the above in the past, not carried out, just a visual check. I don't use dealers anymore, got a local go to garage for stuff I can't handle, brakes I can replace myself ATM, they get a proper check annually.

Corroded rear discs
Must also add to my post above, the fronts were not looking good either but acceptable when I bought the car. I've since changed the fronts myself for Brembo, I've used this brand on other cars. Never had an auto car before I guess they are heavy on brake wear, especially fronts, time will tell. The rears though on mine and others I've read deteriorate (rust) because poor quality materials rather than lack of braking power to clean them off. Yes heavy braking will 'clean up' the discs if rusted from the car standing but the discs fitted to these Skoda are or seem poor quality to start with.

Corroded rear discs
The Kamiq I bought 2 months ago apparently had rear rusty discs and past their best, they were changed before I took delivery. The new ones are swept by the pads almost to the edge of the disc all but for around approx 3 mm. This is on a car that's done 18k miles, and nearly 4 years old. You'd expect better quality materials used but apparently they aren't very good on Skoda now and rust easily. I'd also expect that dealer will replace and at the same time clean up those alloys, seemed only cleaned where you can notice. My replacements......

Make sure you measure the size of the rear hatch release on your Octavia and it matches those images and sizes shown. I chose CAM B as it matches exactly to my Kamiq. The Kamiq if you notice has chamfered corners on the top edge, take note if your Octavia matches that pattern. Also it's pretty easy to connect up the camera at the dash display, not sure if you yours will be similar or built into the dash display?

The reverse screen view switches off as soon as you come out of the reverse gear selector.

Here is the link, make sure you select CAM B when adding to your basket. Forgot to mention it is just plug in and go, no coding, mine worked as soon as reverse was selected.👍 https://a.aliexpress.com/_Eznn3Qr

Reversing camera
Camera now installed, decent quality and picture good, worth the money and effort in my opinion. Reverse sensors still operate with audible warning too. It's got adjustments for colour/brightness/contrast that's about it it shows the modes of display, see pics. A little time consuming to install, taking the rear hatch panel off and routing the cable to the display but I've done this sort of thing before on another car, so expected. Get a set of trim removal tools, makes it easier and protect the dash with a cloth/towel to rest the display unit whilst out. Hope this helps others who are thinking about installing this particular camera, Sinosmart.

Parking Bump
On certain models or types of headlight units you can obtain repair brackets for the headlight fixings. I had a similar car park scrape in my Mazda, the bumper was pushed in slightly against the headlight. Upon removing the bumper for repair they found a cracked mounting bracket on the headlight, they plastic welded it back together.

Yes that's it, easy. Not done my install yet but I have had the screen out for a look behind, looks pretty straightforward.

Remove the screws under the flap then the screen pulls out, it's clipped in, then this..... "After removing the screen you will find a black box the size of cd player It is this you have to slide out after removing the screws on each side. Then you can pull the unit out, the loom is fitted to the back of this unit"

You could look but you'll find it hard to find one, I guess you'll try though. Anyways, quite a few like you 'know alls' make like you've a god given right to make pointless comments, sneering at what others post when TBH you're just a wind up merchant.

Retrofitting reversing camera
Oh! mud guards, where from, any links and are they a good fit?

Retrofitting reversing camera
Will they fit that camera being as it's a non standard part, ie Chinese not Skoda recommended?

Retrofitting reversing camera
I ordered CAM B. Shown in pic. It cost more than that though with tax added, probably different link, It's the Sinosmart though. It'll be the second one I've ordered, I sent one back, it didn't fit, too small CAM A. Also if you look at the CAM B it has chamfered corners on one side and square on the other, that matches my Kamiq 2020 model. Whilst I had the unit out I measured it up and the opening match CAM B's measurements. Anyways only just ordered it so hopefully it goes in ok. Their returns/refund system is fast so if you have problems no worries, first orders get a free refund.

Corroded and Pitted Disc
Pictures of offending discs would give us a clue as to condition.

Corroded and Pitted Disc
Not happy with my Kamiq front brakes (very worn down for 18k miles use) I've ordered a set of Brembo discs/pads. All in delivered £82 so they can't be much more for the Karoq, probably £100-£120 tops I reckon. If you have a few tools and a jack it's easy enough. Incidentally my rear brakes were replaced for the MOT, apparently the dealer said they were past their best, rusty/pitted. I've just sold a SEAT traded in to them, renewed the rears on that after 10 years and 36k miles, rusty not worn out though. The fronts were fine after 10 years (I bought the car new) but I would have changed them this year had I kept the car. Yep cheapo materials like brake discs now being supplied when building these Skodas.

Rear vents - no air flow
Mine lights up (in green) like that, pressing it does nothing. I wondered if it sets the airflow to the rear or to both fronts or just one side, nope nothing. It does suggest on the symbol that front seats airflow yes, rear possibly not. In that mode I definitely have airflow to the rear two vents behind the centre console.
