  1. I was at the match when Norman and Frannie Lee had a set-to. If I remember correctly Billy Bremner had wound Frannie up no end that match, Hunters challenges just tipped him over the edge. Still not a nice way to go. RIP Norman.
  2. We had one today about 5 doors up the road today. He's got a skip on the front and doing something in the back garden. Wood cutting, all sorts of building works going off then the smell of wood burning and smoke drifting from his garden. It's the same annoying prat that started dumping garden waste over on the farmers field when he first moved in around this time last year. Also without notice he almost stripped bare a tree overhanging the neighbours garden, even on their side, he went round to do it when they went out. Talk about getting on with the new neighbours, he annoys me by just looking at him, one of those.🙄
  3. See the video below, I guess you'll be needing a grinder and I would backfill and compact the filling material a little better. It gives you the idea. 👍 https://www.toolstation.com/flexible-adaptor-clay-to-pvc/p54240?store=D4&utm_source=googleshopping&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=googleshoppingfeed&gclid=Cj0KCQjwm9D0BRCMARIsAIfvfIbMssl5IHgBPR_c4YPKY574i2UD__B9OmCMxSKB0UsNFtdClbpRxAMaAo7MEALw_wcB
  4. If it's of any use to you....... I have had my asthma inhalers on repeats for many years, it was mainly Boots who prepared and I or my wife collected. After changing pharmacies mainly for ease of collection and one particular pharmacy who couldn't run a whatsit it a brewery we decided to use the pharamcy attached to the docs surgery. For the life of me it couldn't get more simple, order repeat perscription by phone or by calling in at the surgery desk. They then take the repeat over to the pharmacy in the same building to dispense, I collect within 5 days. No not that simple, sometimes it wasn't ready or on a few occasions wasn't even submiited to the GP to authorise. Being it was a 4 mile trip to the surgery it sometimes resulted in a wasted trip by car and I was getting annoyed too as you could never find a parking place when arriving. No big deal about the parking but I shouldn't have to keep going in the first place just to collect what should have been ready. So being as now we have to ring a perscription hot line to order a repeat or alternatively go online and order i took the steps to go through Pharmacy2U who are based in Leeds. Make sure you give them at least 7 days to prepare/authorise and deliver (free) and you'll be fine, It's been a boon with all this Covid19 but the last time I ordered was the first week of the lockdown, all went ok. On the website (doctors/perscription) you can nominate which pharmacy you want to have your meds supplied by default, mostly local pharmacies show up but I nominated Pharmacy2U in the 'other' box, or something like that. Hope this helps, if you already know then fair do's.
  5. In planning our Scotland trip for this year (will be the third time) taking in the NC500, I said when to my OH is it May or September? We both agreed Sept so booked accordingly our accomodation. We've had one cancellation so far, the B&B have closed down for the entire year which now is understandable as they are elderly. I can think back to stopping in various places around Scotland and it was in our experience mainly retired/elderly couples who were the hosts. I don't want to start cancelling our entire trip just yet, if it does come to that then so be it. We'll wait on what's best for the country and those that are in power to tell us, but most important those that are inviting us to stop at their B&B's/hotels. The whole of the UK needs to get going again after this emergency is over, when that is who knows, they'll sure need that income again
  6. We use this type of halogen cooker all the time, not the one below but a different make but get the idea... https://www.argos.co.uk/product/6982641?istCompanyId=a74d8886-5df9-4baa-b776-166b3bf9111c&istFeedId=c290d9a9-b5d6-423c-841d-2a559621874c&istItemId=ixilqxali&istBid=t&&cmpid=GS001&_$ja=tsid:59157|acid:598-923-9094|cid:9549408474|agid:97028013839|tid:pla-884720414102|crid:422748696863|nw:g|rnd:8223384787843753781|dvc:c|adp:|mt:|loc:1006674&utm_source=Google&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=9549408474&utm_term=&utm_content=shopping&utm_custom1=97028013839&utm_custom2=598-923-9094&gclid=Cj0KCQjw-Mr0BRDyARIsAKEFbecdxbfkVre2Sl1Yftg8byAGtpOY52wifqtrTrL_BACtkSpymNfeWIkaAvHfEALw_wcB&gclsrc=aw.ds Infact our gas oven is mainly redundant. Cooked whole chickens/meat joints in it, roasted vegetables, everything really you could do in a conventional oven.
  7. I've got the 1.2Tsi Toledo, so exactly the same engine as the equivalent Rapid 2014. I use one of those cheapo Aldi maintainance chargers on it, seems to do the job ok. Been reading up only the other day about what you should do re charging cars with stop/start function etc...that's mine, as I say it's fine for mine with a low amp unit like the one above. Regards the taking off the battery to charge, mine was ok no ill effects, just needed to reset the clock and radio presets. it drove fine afterwards. That was when I had a new battery fitted. Now my other car (Mazda MX-5) that had to relearn the the cars typical running characteristics via the ECU when disconnecting the battery. This only caused the idling of the engine to become erractic, a 30 mile drive and it sorted itself out back to normal. I do keep that car hooked up to the same maintenance charger as above with the battery connected in the car, all ok again.😉
  8. I was in the builders merchants business may years ago. You could get various adaptors to connect one pipe to a different one say plastic to clay/salt glazed. Depends how old the property is and what's fitted. I'm guessing you are looking to fit a new piece of pipe in on the run from the stack to the manhole or fit a repair section? Just to add if salt glazed pipe these used to come in short lengths so hopelly you could remove a section and replace/adapt for a piece of plastic.
  9. It's having to listen to some others music that does my head in. You can guarantee if you go sit out in the back garden it'll start up soon.😟
  10. Locally. Whatever you think of Boris, this just wasn't it. Saying he deserves this (Corona virus) by this person has truly come back to bite her. First she has been removed as a labour councillor now this... https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/amp/uk-england-derbyshire-52224325
  11. What's boiling my blood right now.... Farmer spent most of the week ploughing the fields, seeding and rolling so whatever is in there can feed the nation and keep us going. Then up strolls some Joe public (mainly dog walkers) and proceed to walk over that land to exercise their dogs or kids. It's not a public right of way, never has been whilst I've lived in the area over 40 years.🤬
  12. The Arona you had temporarily, was it a nice drive and ok with the 1ltr? I've been going round in circles which one to buy, it started with the Arona and now looking again at it. Been also looking at Hyundai Kona or Tuscan although the Tuscan is a little on the large size for my liking. Considered also Suzuki Vitara or S-cross, all 1ltr except the Tuscan.
  13. We find it annoying we can't get bread flour. Been baking our own bread for years, all of a sudden folk want to bake bread?? There isn't any shortage of bread on the shelves, well the supermarkets we went to. At least for now we can buy bread if we can't make it.
  14. My battery needed replacing nearly 2 years ago. I found out when fault warning lights came up on the dash that indicated the traction control has a fault. The codes were read and indicated the TPS (throttle position sensor) was at fault. Nothing of the sort, replacing the battery fixed it. As above says, these VAG cars throw up some unrelated fault codes when sometimes it's just the battery low on power and luckily my mechanic sussed that.
  15. The only thought from me given the mileage, are the brake pads low or brake fluid low. Both would maybe give a dash warning if low. My Mazda gives a red brake warning light on the dash if fluid is low. Check the above first but consult the handbook for answers but if your knowledge is limited then best call is a garage if available.
  16. That why I haven't been anywhere near a SEAT garage. The local mechanic a fairly young lad took over from his dad to run the garage, he told me "I should be fitting a TPS sensor as that's the fault showing" he went on to say, so that's £112 + fitting. Then he checked the battery and told me about it's state and said, I'd go with a new battery first, seen a good few like this, new battery fixed it. So it did, still cost me £142 as it's the big battery for stop/start. He didn't even charge the diagnostic fee as I had to wait whilst the battery was delivered, probably an hour. Bet the dealer wouldn't give the same advice/service and price. The last time I used a dealer it was, I'll book you in, in 10 days ok? How much I asked, they reeled off all the charges, I just walked out. Local garage, drive up, within 2 mins he had his diagnostic machine hooked up, 20 mins later a new battery was ordered and as I said delivered an hour later, he even stayed behind after 5.30pm (their closing time) to fit it, no nonsense stuff.
  17. I understand your concerns, would it be impractical to keep the battery maintained whilst the car laid up? I keep my other car sorned between Nov and March and keep the battery maintained but that's tucked up in the garage.
  18. I was told when my battery started to fail that it didn't have enough power in it to return a strong signal to various electronic components hence the fault lights. Everything worked in the car, even started the car ok but apparently this can happen when a battery starts to degrade. For my particular case when I bought the car it had stood from new reg time end of March 2014 until I bought it in August. It had only had 10 delivery miles on it, so what happened to that battery? Well over 4 years on coupled with only occasional use it has prematurely given up.
  19. I'll refer you to my post under Skoda Rapid Guides re 1.2 Tsi traction control, EPC lights ... My problem was a failing battery. I used to leave mine unused for days (in winter) and I reckon it was prematurely killing the battery. It was at the time not much over 4 years old. I've only done around 25k miles in 6 years ownership. As a start point get the battery checked, I thought mine was ok, it started the car and everything worked fine.
  20. I've got the Amundsen in my Toledo circa 2013-2014 model fitted and still with the original maps, V5. It's always shown the speed limits and handy if I don't know the area I'm in and sometimes the signs are a bit sparse, I stick the sat nav map on. Which brings me around to, those speed limits must have changed over 6 years 😁 I must get an update. I've no original SD card, never got one with the car. Seen the map updates on our favourite auction site, I reckon mine is the RNS315 and I see only one listed on there. Are these ok, I see it says V9 which after reading various threads that is the most up-to-date stable offering? Anywhere else to try for the map update, apart from the dealer?
  21. Yes my man down at the local garage hooked his diagnostic gizmo up to it and found the same code as I did with my cheapo reader. From what he told me he's seen enough VAG cars throwing up these types of codes and dash light warnings. Sometimes it's a little baffling to him so he goes through the basics first to elimate stuff. Glad to say he cracked it more or less first time by fitting the new battery.
  22. I had exactly the same happen on my Toledo. It possibly went another 2 weeks before it occurred again. I did exactly as you did, pulled over and turned off then restarted, all good again. Wind on to the second time it happened and I followed the same procedure, all good again. The next day I went out in the car and it happened on around 3 occasions in around 4 miles, not good. I've got a code reader and it threw up a code TPS faulty (throttle position sensor) but why I said does the EPC and the traction control lights show? Took it to my local garage and he cleared the codes, told me to take a test drive, it happened again within a mile. Went back, he had already checked the TPS, all good. He had a hunch that the battery could be down on power, he said VAG group cars throw up all sorts of weird codes, he has experience of these. He tested the battery and found it low on power, I queried this and he said we'll fit a new battery before we start ripping parts off that probably won't cure the problem but cost you loads of unnecessary spent money. Glad to say it cured the problem, two years on all still good. What I do now is I keep the battery maintained, especially in winter as I don't use the car daily. I think it's that kind of use that's most likely started to kill the battery. It's the high powered one for the stop start and they ain't cheap. So to just to say the simplest thing you can do is get your battery checked out, mine started giving up after just under 5 years.
  23. I guess it could be handy putting which head unit you have and the year of the car. On a similar line of enquiry (sorry to hijack this thread) whilst those in the know about this stuff. Do I need a specific SEAT nav update for maps, I've never updated them or can I use the a Skoda (VAG) general update? BTW for Amundsen 2014 in the Toledo.
