  1. Take it in and ask them to do it, check it and recharge/top up. Most cars will probably need at least a top up of the air con system at that age.
  2. The one from AliExpress (Sinosmart) didn't need coding, just plug and play. Mine is fitted to a 2020 SE L. Hope that helps. BTW still working fine 1 year on.

You use the key fob button to lock the doors but the boot doesn't lock too?
  4. The screen fault isn't a fault, it's showing where the fault is by highlighting the engine/gearbox shape. A degradation in the battery could be the cause, you won't know until you get it checked. When you say failed stop/start is it always activated, what happens if it's turned off does the fault still appear?
  5. I see 43 to 45 mpg (on the screen reading) with daily short trip type of driving. A longer journey will bring well over 50 mpg if not caning in the motorway. It's the 1 litre DSG btw, slipping it into sport mode makes it very nippy when you need that extra power for overtaking or quick getaway, it's plenty powerful enough in normal drive mode though.
  6. I bought one last year, I'll have had it 12 months by next week. First off the rear brakes were obviously shot at 19k miles as they were replaced in February of 2024. Mines a 2020 model SE L DSG 1ltr. I've replaced the front brakes myself and given it a service only last month, easy enough as I don't bother with dealers or anyone else touching my cars. It's just also had it's second MOT, absolutely nothing wrong and I didn't expect there to be. The car is a great to drive, never had an auto for many years, this being the DSG it's absolutely great to drive, plenty of poke if needed especially when put in sport mode for a 1 litre. I've have no problem but for, see below..... A word of advice, check to see if the car your buying has the SOS alarm keep showing up on the dash display. Plenty of info on this within this forum and not just on the Kamiq either. I'm pretty sure they'll say no or I don't know what you mean. It can happen often or randomly any time between 4 week intervals or 4 month intervals. Mine started around 6 months into ownership, I only had a 3 month warranty (car supermarket type sale) and it's been annoying rather than an actual fault that prevents you driving the car. Anyways mine just resets and maybe doesn't happen again for weeks and weeks, I just put up with it. Apparently some say it needs a software update others say a new aerial module, take your pick but ask the selling dealer if it's been replaced or had all the updates before shelling out your hard earned.👍
  7. Follow this link below re the light, it's in German but has subtitles you don't really need them though. As for brakes despite what others may say re brakes mine were bad and were replaced after 19k miles, 3 years old. Other cars I've owned still had the original rear brakes on at 7 years old and probably 50k miles. I replaced the fronts myself with Brembo discs+ pads.
  8. On Blakey Ridge today.
  9. Heading down for a walk along the beach.
  10. "However I'm not one for boys toys I don't even own an electric screw driver though sometime now with my weak muscles, soft skin, and creaking bones I sometimes wish I had, then I see some simple work done with them badly and glad again I don't have one" I've just invested in a new cordless drill and separate driver. My old cordless drill the battery died (back to batteries again😁) and replacements unavailable. I dumped it and replaced it with both the drill and driver from those middle of Lidl specials. Must say after building a raised bed (garden) numerous screws and just completed some shelving half the length of the garage. I have around 10 screws left of a box of 100 building that, the cordless driver came into it's own along with the drill of course. Lidl, tools perfect for the DIY man, that's me. I'll probably have a rest now for a few weeks, bones are certainly aching.😁
  11. That battery tester is a good tool to have for anyone running a car. Just hook it up and it'll give you a reading. For an £18 spend it's good to know if the battery just needs charging or replacing. Of course going to any garage, dealership or even Halfords they may just say, new battery mate when it doesn't need one and please handover £xx for a diagnosis. I just think of the time a friend went to a garage a few years ago, he had a noise from the engine, you need an engine swap mate, we can do you one for £xxxx. All it needed was an aux belt tensioner replacing.
  12. Just buy a battery tester, something like in the link below. I bought the exact one, it tells me if the battery just needs a charge or it's gone bad. Also tells me the charge rate, full instructions to use with it of course. I bought it when I had an MX-5 laid up over winter in the garage, battery on that had gone, wouldn't hold a charge but started the car. That little gizmo told me all I needed to know. Wish I had it when I had my SEAT, the battery went bad but again it started the car ok. But the dash lights used to light up telling me all sorts of stuff was faulty, like traction control, throttle position sensor etc. I've got a decent local garage and they immediately pointed to the battery at fault. It was tested and confirmed on its way out. That was a stop/start car/battery so a new one fitted, codes cleared and no more problems. It's also worth investigating in a battery trickle charger, I just use one from Lidl, cheap enough (got an older one from Aldi too) both do the job if you think your battery needs a boost say in winter. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/372436652444?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=vrAwd99DT4i&sssrc=4429486&ssuid=PjrX0wOKTfG&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY
  13. Same as above really, it doesn't matter seeing which gear I'm in, I just drive it. If I want extra power for overtaking or steep inclines, moving off quickly I stick it in sport mode.
  14. I get the gear I'm in displayed in 'D' in the left dial in classic mode.
  15. First checks, binding front brake caliper (is one getting hot) or another to check, wheel alignment. Oh! and a third, tyres, do they match and inflated to the correct pressures? It's just some items to check, if all good then you have to suspect something actually wrong on a steering component, weird it's only evident at speed.
  16. I noticed no-one has mentioned it, having played around with my cockpit display to get the navigation back up, you can set what appears in each dial (two dial display) in the infotainment screen. It's an arrow up down selection for each dial on the screen.
  17. Must have been costs cutting on the late 2020 SE L model, no boot torch and only one boot light, the other side has a blanking plate on mine?
  18. This thread will help, particularly Carlstons post re brake sizes and parts numbers when ordering👍
  19. Yes correct, I invested in that hex bit for my tool kit, the same size as on my previous SEAT brakes.
  20. As above post really but make sure you don't make the same mistake as me. I ordered discs and pads but they were the wrong size. Unbeknown to me at the time there are two sizes of front discs for the Kamiq 256mm and 276mm. Mine were 276mm on a 1ltr 2020 model SE L I got sent 256mm size + pads to suit, I guess it was my fault for not double checking but at the time the car was new to me.
  21. Anything will do that passes for screen wash😀 Ok for me, B&M in the UK did 10 litres (2 x 5 litres) last time I bought it for £6. Been using it for a couple of years from there.

Food for thought on this, SOS triggered again yesterday. Again I was right next to a set of temporary traffic lights and stopped. It's been last November since this triggered been on my hols to North Yorkshire, down to Wiltshire over Christmas, nothing, no warnings, car faultless.
  23. I paid £110 for Brembo discs+pads last year, parts only and did them myself. Add fitting labour charge + a little profit on parts for the garage fitting them, who knows what labour charge is now? Be aware there are two size discs/pads fitted to the fronts on the Kamiq. I ordered the smaller 256mm discs unaware that 276mm discs were the size fitted. There's a difference of about £20 between the sizes for the set👍
  24. Glad it's mostly sorted and yourself, take care.😄
