A68- Looking For Fuel Stops
skippy41 replied to gregoir's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk II (2004 - 2013)
Just come off at the Newcastle airport road, there is one there, then the next is jedburgh, and the best bit is no speed cameras, except for 1 at the highwayman about 10 miles past the airport, the next is at the bottom of Carter bar on the Scottish side after then a few more, do not stop at Stboswells Earlston or lauder they are over charging. You could change your rout slightly and come via Galashiels where there is an Asda right on the A7 then the next one is at Gorbridge and no speed cameras just slow down going through Stow -
Would a 6 speed gearbox swap strait in instead of a 5 speed one, 1.9 tdi 55 plate

OSF headlight letting in water
skippy41 replied to skippy41's topic in Skoda Superb Mk I (2001-2008)
Is there a how to remove the light anywhere?? -
I have had the back off the headlight recently and drained the water out left the cover off so that the remaining water could evaporate then refitted the cover. Does the classic have headlight washers as they have the chrome section in the middle bottom area, if not what is the best way to stop water entering the headlight without having to buy a new one, also I believe that the bumper has to come off to remove the headlight

Go to a scrappy and get one the front one fits the back, even from a Fabia, golf or seat

Brake warning light and buzzer driving me mad !
skippy41 replied to brucey1's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk II (2004 - 2013)
http://forums.vwvortex.com/showthread.php?2246459-DIY-How-to-get-around-the-brake-pad-wear-indicator-change-light-lamp-warning I had the same problem, its caused by the cable connection to the pads on the near side front wheel. I have just cut the plug off and stripped and twisted the wires together, wrapped insulating tape around them, and used small plasti strips to tie the wire out of the way, and cut the wear sensor wire off the pads result no more warnings one of the cables came off the plug on the car side. I will go to the scrappy's when I get time and get another plug and cut and solder both together -
Just got this years car tax reminder.

This is like a follow on, Got SWMBOs radio checked in Halfords it works, in the car there is no power at the connections, have checked the fuses but cannot find any that have blown, unless there are some hidden ones, so basically what else can I check to try and get power to the radio plugs???

On Saturday night, had a few regulars out in fancy dress, one decided to sit on the bonnet for a photo. Result on looking at the bonnet in daylight a big dent of a bum. Lifted the bonnet to see if I could push it back out but dent in area that is not accessible even removing under bonnet trim, thought of how much this is going to cost, as it was on the high crease line in the centre and both sides of the crease where down. Thought about it for a while, then the phone rang, then the idea suddenly transpired. took phone out of cradle, I have one of those lick and stick down ones on a long spring, that sticks down to the base that comes with it in the top tray. Got out and gave it a good lick and placed it in the centre of the dent pushed the lock on the suction cup and pulled gently result no more dent.

skippy41 replied to skippy41's topic in Skoda Superb Mk I (2001-2008)
OK Superbia, SWMBO has been foot stamping oh heck lol, she has just said she only wants a good single din unit as long as it has blue tooth and a sd card slot Had a look at flyby but there are so many to choose from so any ideas are welcome One with sat nav would be a bonus -
I put all 4 on and after a few month removed the rear ones as they serve no purpose

Clutch thrust bearing, all that will happen is it will rattle on idle, not worth changing unless the clutch needs changing

Skoda Octavia III TDI - Best one to go for
skippy41 replied to SKOD's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk II (2004 - 2013)
The 1.9 will do everything you want it to do and with less problems than the 2ltr, the 2 ltr has known turbo problems. My 1.9 is coming up to 209000 If the dual mass flywheel goes you can fit the single system in at a quarter of the cost
