Cheers .
  2. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/2-Din-Car-DVD-GPS-Player-SKODA-OCTAVIA-II-III-FABIA_W0QQitemZ250549627770QQcategoryZ156955QQcmdZViewItemQQ_trksidZp5197.m7QQ_trkparmsZalgo%3DLVI%26itu%3DUCI%26otn%3D4%26po%3DLVI%26ps%3D63%26clkid%3D5349190541141894864 ... What do you guys reckon, currently I have an audience and the amp and 12 speaker system installed in my car.The seller assured me that the MFD will still display evertything but hasn't answered me yet when it comes to the sound system.will it be just a plug and play or are the Stream,Audience with 8 speakers and Audience with 12 speakers differently wired up.Dont want to spend some £350 for nothing ....
  3. No one ?,no one has ever fitted any of this or similar in their Octy ?.
  4. Common problems on the 1.9 pd engine are the dual mass flywheel and turbos, check for any bad vibrations and rattles when pressing the clutch to check for flywheel damage and turbo wise see that good quality oil has been used and has been changed regularly, other than that these cars are bullet proof,I've had my hatch for a year and a half now, only - for me is the terrible diesel knock especially at idle, engine noise is too agricultural but it has loads and loads of + points, can't imagine parting with mine for anything else ....
  5. As the title says,am looking into buying this from a mate of mine who brought one but has no use for it as a christmas present for my self.My main concern befor I buy it is that my car has the Audience rather than the Stream radio and I've read somewhere that the connections are different, also since my car is equipped with the sound system and Maxidot will the amplifier read the stereo and will the maxidot display the radio stations ?.Any answers are greatly appreciated http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/2-Din-Car-DVD-GPS-DVB-Player-SKODA-OCTAVIA-/260564883514?pt=UK_AudioTVElectronics_GPSSystems_GPSSystems&hash=item3caae0983a
  6. I was referring to Skoda Club Malta for club meets and drives.I know they're very limited when it comes to technical stuff and help unlike this forum ..... Want to join us for Istrina. From which part of the country are you ?.I am from Malta.
  7. Hi mate,Ivan from Malta here, pretty good work there ..... Keep it up.Do you wish to join Skoda Club Malta ?.
  8. Same thing happened to mine.I never use any chemicals or any stuff to clean the wheels, just water and soap.I think they get discoloured due to the heat generated by the brakes. The solution I found was to replace the ones I had, which were silver coloured,to darker grey ones as on the Superb 2,after a year they still look good ...
  9. These are codes for the rear anti roll bar, different codes for different sizes as follow: OBD = 19,6 x 2,6 OBE = 20,7 x 2,8 OBF = 21,7 x 3 Hope this is what you were looking for ...
  10. There is a repair kit besides the mechatronic that Skoda advised us to have replaced.Part number is 02E398029.Insist with the dealer to have this replaced.Even though it's a warranty job, your dealer might claim for parts from Skoda he never replaced on your car if you know what I mean.As someone else said the DSG is quite a complex box, quite a few parts can be repalced,VAG had some trouble with them recalling quite a few.Personally I wouldn't want one ....
  11. Besides the mechatronic make sure that you have the clutch replaced as well.We had the same problem on a Superb with DSG,replaced the mechatronic under warranty as instructed by Skoda, same problem re appeared and they instructed us to replace the cluct unit.Replacing the mechatronic isn't a gearbox out job but the clutch unit is.Also it's worth having the gear oil and filter replaced whilst the job is being done.Apparently these DSG gearboxes were giving some problems, around 350,000 were being recalled. Also on another superb, the oil cooler failed, mixing the DSG oil with radiator coolant,we had no other option but to replace the whole box .....
  12. For non climatronic models.Does anyone know if the a/c controls ( those 3 knobs ) on an FL model fit a pre FL without any modifications. On the FL models they look like climatronic controls and I like the look of them.Anyone tried ?.
  13. It's got platic clips on each side so I'd say prise one of them gently with a flat bladed screwdriver to remove .....
  14. This is official skoda info regarding Octavia tyre noise and how to solve.Below are copied extracts from skoda's direct info.Hope this helps to anyof you who had similar problems ... If your car is still under warranty it should be rectified by your dealer but if it isn't I guess it's nothing that a main wheel alignment specialist can't do ... Technical background These noises are caused by irregular (saw-tooth like) wear of the tyre cover of the rear axle tyres. Involved are mostly the tyres 225/45/R17 manufactured by the companies Bridgestone and Dunlop. Production change The camber values of the rear wheel are adjusted at the upper limit of the prescribed tolerance. Measure This saw-tooth like wear of the tyres can be prevented by changing the wheel alignment on the rear axle to these values: Wheel camber on 2UA, 2UC, 2UB chassis: -50‘-10‘ (max.-1°) Wheel camber on RS chassis: -1°15‘-5‘ (max.-1°20‘) Toe-in total: +10‘-2‘ Toe-in divided - left: +5‘ Toe-in divided - right: +5‘
  15. I don't think it's something you can do with Maxidot.Had my car connected to the VAS and done through there .....
  16. I am a happy Skoda Octavia owner,I've got tow estelle's and a Fabia as well,my dad's got a Felicia so we're pretty much of a Skoda family.Won't ever consider driving anything else.If you see the JD power surveys you'll find that Skoda, last and this year came on top of everyone when it comes to reliability, customer satisfaction etc,etc .... .Best motor of the brand is the Octavia so the answer to your question is that YES,there are a lot of owners happy with their Octavia.
  17. Whilst everyone is asleep I am usually out and about with my camera taking pics .... Should you wish to see more you can find me on facebook by searching for, ivan's photography page and click on like, and you can also find me as Ivan Visanich on facebook and add me as a friend...Enjoy.
  18. Some 1.2 engines had an issue with the valve seats and ignition coils, the latter have been modified by skoda throughout the years but the valve seat problems only affected a batch of engines manufactured after 2007....Is the car still working properly ?,any loss of power or misfires ?.
  19. ... Following my thread a few days ago,car was plugged to the VAS and no faults came up,managed to erase the fault, switching the engine light off, only came back on after a few kms.Car re inspected again and mechanic told me that the diaphragm in the EGR valve is punctured, leaking air...Anyone ever encountered any similar problems ?.Could it be the case that since it was full of exhaust soot, the valve in the EGR was stuck up to an extent that it tore the diaphragm or am I one of the unfortunates out there ?...At least the EGR is not so bloody expensive to replace.
  20. Was driving back home this afternoon when suddenly the engine light came on and an Emissions Workshop ! warning came on display on the maxidot.Cecked on the owners manual which says that something is wrong with the exhaust system....Know it sound silly but had anyone ever encountered similar problems ?.It's a 1.9 PD engine without DPF.
  21. On a motorway run, reaching 197 km/h and with the a/c on,no lugagge and just me in the car it averaged 40.1 mpg as on the maxidot which I reckon is good enough. With € 40.00 , 32.52 litres of diesel, tank nearly full, I crossed from Messina to Pozzallo ( Sicily ) and still had half a tank left whereas my friend with the same amount of fuel in his Fabia 1.2 managed to arrive with just 10km to stop ( showing on the maxidot ) left of fuel in the tank. With a lighter right foot it averages 45 to 50 mpg or even more ...
  22. Driven a FL Octavia for the first time yesterday, noticed that with the maxidot display it has got the oil temperature and gear change indicator as well.Is there any sort of programme through the VAS that I can install the same maxidot features of the FL model on my maxidot of my 2007 PD Octy ?,or would it hav eto be a case that a new cluster is needed or nothing can be done ?.
  23. ..... here are the pictures of my beloved other Skoda i own . 100 % original, never been welded, never been re sprayed, totally mint, used to be my father's but is now in my possession.Been carefully kept in a garage all it's life time and was always used as a Sunday car.
