  1. lol scrap the Fiesta! it's a bloody clean shell, two owner car, caged, coil overs etc etc Funny enough, when decided to buy a vRS the fact that could take it on track was one of the plus points, wanted 1 car that was an all-rounder. But being it's my daily driver wouldn't want to risk ruining it / breaking!
  2. Mines 2002 on a 51, and pretty sure they're 17's (you'd think I'd remember as bought two pairs of tyres for it over the last year!) yep defo 17's
  3. Thank you I can't remember lol l don't think it was, coulc've been as I'd just parked it back in the driveway, do get some condensation on a cold day, could be a dirty tail pipe lol
  4. Meant to post these ages ago,(did in early November) beads fantastically, hopefully protects against the salt and crap on the winter roads, definitely makes washing it easier! The camera doesn't like the red (Whilst I'm picture spamming, we like Skodas in our house lol)
  5. Thanks for the suggestions, I did suggest using the Estate, there would be no problem putting a tow bar on it, as it's Company vehicle J thinks it'll be used to pull the works trailer! As it's not a pool car and he pays the tax he doesn't want it used as such! God knows what fuel economy would be like, it's ver ygood unladen though! lol Was going to get a Volvo T5 to tow with!
  6. I'm relucatant to part with my vRS as, although it is relatively high mileage, it's a one previous owner very clean car, was bit of a bargin and if I sell will probably regret it and not find one as good as cheap again. I'm also a bit wary about using it as a tow car (the tow bar will totally ruin it's street cred! lol), it's on 140k now with original clutch. It's a case of sell it for a more traditional cart horse, or keep it and use it. I want to do more track days this year and don't fancy driving the XR2i there and back. So the vRS would have to tow a stripped Fiesta and trailer with toolbox in boot. So the question any used theirs for towing? Good idea or not? :S
  7. Is it standard? Mines fantastic on fuel economy!
  8. Was done up with air gun, I don't have a Haynes manual for the Octy! Was over a year ago now so can't remember if came with new bolts (and being strech bolts surely would need new ones then) got a torque wrench at home, will check them when get a chance just to make sure
  9. I thought was AUM, but I really haven't got a betty boo! You'd have thought the vRS 180bhp would have the bigger ports than the 150 20v, I'm sure there's 20 something VAG 20v codes/combinations! Now we're sounded really geeky...!
  10. Erm I replaced both lower arms (with bushes as a whole) and didn't do to a torque :| totally useless reply to you I know!
  11. yeah, but is that what they have in the 1.8T (non vRS?) I dunno!
  12. Sorry to hear that Ollie :( AFAIK AGU Has bigger ports on the head and the inlet manifold than the AUQ - was the water pump still an issue on the 54 reg's? As said above seems a lot of fluid to lose through temp sensor, possibly they mean failure of the temp sensor caused it to overhead? But then I'm not expert, hopefully if it didn't get too hot it wont have caused a lot of damage, head might just need a skim
  13. It was a bit of a palaver but I didn't bother changing it till nearly a year after I bought it (only because it'd put potential buyers off, it clearly is and always has been a vRS not a diesel!) mine still came out as what it should on the insurers database, I think DVLA said that when the vRS came out it wasn't loaded onto their database, so they picked the next available option!! With regards to changing the turbo on the 1.8T, sure I'll be corrected if wrong, but the AUQ that the vRS has a different map along with the KO3s, I don't think there is any differences in the head..
  14. Had to get a letter and something else from Skoda and sent it off to DVLA to prove it was an RS and get it changed on the log book!
  15. Thanks I read that earlier, GSF didn't say main dealer only to me, just that they didn't do them - I wouldn't take my car anywhere near Kwik Fit for anything other than tyre fitting! lol Just a shame don't have the time to do myself, oh well as said we'll see when I get it back whether the factors spring is indeed vRS specific, surely they're not going to fit it if they don't match :wonder:
  16. Even worse when your log book says diesel ambiente as mine did when I bought it lol
  17. Yeah I phoned GSF in the end. Unipart do list different part numbers for the vRS and standard springs, and I tripled checked with the garage fitting it that it definitely will be vRS and not standard spring they're fitting - I'm concerned now! guess we'll soon see when get it back...
  18. snapped rear spring, didn't see that coming

  19. Cheers guys, sure it's not too difficult, just wont have the time as away all bloody weekend and now it's dark of an evening, I haven't the inclination to start getting the tools out either, easier to pay the garage!
  20. How much are these from the dealers does anyone know (I did phone them, but don't have my chassis number to hand - the car is at the MOT station) they've quoted me to fit a new one but obviously it's not a genuine part (I have checked it will be a correct vRS spring and not a standard Octavia one) Just wanted to compare prices (not sure GSF do them, weren't on their website anyway and couldn't be bothered to phone them, we not got time this w/e to fit ourselves)
  21. Had mine nearly two years now, it's on 139k miles, had the usual common faults, clutch pedal clip breaking, MAF, seized rear caliper, water pump hadn't gone but replaced it at same time the cambelt tensioner was done (cam belt had been done but not the tensioner), wishbones/lower arm bushes, oh an driveshaft as cv joint had gone, starter motor, water temp sensor and crank speed sensor I can say it's been one of the best cars I have owned, (and I've had a few varied including sapphire cosworth, 190bhp Renault 5 GTT, 1.1 Fiesta lol) ticks all the boxes IMO for an everyday car, economical, discreet, sporty, but fun to blast round the back roads. So far it's been reliable! And still produced 182bhp on the rollers
  22. Thats what I thought lol replaced driveshaft in the end, sorted my wobble
  23. Going to miss it again (can't find a head banging against the wall smilie lol) we now going to the Richard Burns Memorial Rally at Marham
  24. How long were you at Underwoods Silverback? Jas used to work there this is the pub opposite BMW/Mitsubishi etc? Think we should make this one (unless book a holiday away between now and then)
  25. Yes Stug this time of the year there is something car related every blooming weekend, either through pleasure or work (well I tag along with Jas' work Pace Products/Motul) Anyone thought of the next date for a Sunday meet? Make sure it doesn't clash for any of us then lol
