  1. My excuse is couldn't get on Briskoda the other day (kept getting network error messages) so couldn't check which date had been chosen (ok I didn't try to get on Saturday) So good thing posponed as hopefully get a day everyone can stick to?! Zoe
  2. My Octy is having the same problem although I notice the shake more cruising at around 35mph and when accelerating, thought was the driveshafts on mine - my discs are getting low and the Conti tyres are low (heard they can go out of shape after 20k miles) so getting tyres fitted later, then see if the discs have too much lip to pass the MOT next month so could be replacing those too. Didn't seem to be play in the CV Z
  3. Looks mint! Similar registration number to mine (not that you really needed to know that). Z
  4. Thats slightly good news then that it might NOT be cat, just thought if was a shield or something lose the noise wouldn't go, but as you say idle could cause anything lose to 'wobble' There has been a back box rattle for a while Bowders, this does sound in a different place, will have a lookski at the w/e do a CO test. Zoe
  5. Just started yesterday, will jack it up over the weekend see if the exhaust has come loose or anything, but as it rattles from cold then goes when warm is this a sign the Catalytic converter is fluffed? :( the car has done 136k This going to be expensive? :thumbdwn: Z
  6. Sorry I just copied and pasted the actual list from another post!
  7. Looking highly likely keeping the vRS  There must be loads of modded (or even standard) Skodas in East Anglia, maybe if start interest now and plan for in the New Year some time? I usually help at the r/r days there, will have a chat to Rindy, sure we can come up with something, a lot of the times its hard to get people to commit, the Clios had aroudn 30 cars said they were coming, then only 12 odd turned up. I'll come along to the November meet and we can have a chat Zoe

  9. Where do I start... (without listing J's old cars, Golf GTi's, 200SX, VTS etc) sure some other 'runarounds' I've forgotten 1.1 mk3 Esort 1.3 mk 3 Escort XR3i mk4 1996 Escort cabriolet S2 Escort RS Turbo x 2 Orion 1.8 ghia Fiesta Diesel Van Sierra ghia XR4x4 Fiesta RS turbo Mk2 XR2 Escort 1.6 mk4 track car Capri 2 litre laser x 2 Montego turbo Rover 600 turbo Renault 5 GT turbo Renault 21 Turbo Renault 19 16v chamade Uno turbo Subaru classic wagon turbo E30 325i sport L200 Animal between me and J current cars: Sierra Sapphire Cosworth 4x4 garage ornament BMW 318is (for track days) Octavia vRS Octavia SE? estate 2009 see a trend here lol a lot of cars on this thread that I haven't owned but always wanted to, maybe will do in future just for the kick
  10. Not another one! I just got a letter today from Skoda UK (email [email protected]) (I scanned my V5 in due to the postal strike) or phone (0845 7745 75, I spoke to Dan, he'll probably hate me for putting everyone with dodgy V5's on to him lol) their Customer Services was impeccable. Send the letter plus V5 back to DVLA and write on the V5 where it needs to be corrected Zoe
  11. Lucky you! DVLA told me that was not sufficient to change it, got the Certificate of Conformity which didn't even state what model it is so that was useless, then spoke to another really help guy at Skoda UK Customer Services who sorted a letter confirming the model. Z
  12. The pics wouldn't have looked so good if there was another red Octavia there! lol it might be sold by the next meet :( can bring an Octavia estate instead lol Yep as Tim says the rolling road is at Frost Motorsport ,Bailey Close Hadleigh Road Industrial Estate, £25 + VAT if can get 10 cars free tea and coffee too, be cool to have a Skoda day, Rindy would be more than willing to accommodate Z
  13. As long as I haven't broken any kind of forum rule, I didn't look at the date TBH, just that the thread starter had same problem I'm going through :scared: and as you put the link in my thread you are still worthy of being the winner :handshke: (I'll stop spamming now and wait for Skoda UK Customer Services to call me back)
  14. Nil points in since 1993, can't say I haven't broken the speed limits, but generally in national speed limits where I deem it 'safe' to do so, I try to stick to the limits elsewhere, especially 30 in built up areas (although some 30mph limits are in rediculous places IMO) By rights I should have had some points (especially when taking the cossie out for a blast) but been lucky Z
  15. Know the Rushbrook Arms well! Shame got a rolling road to attend in Ipswich that day :( Zoe
  16. what record?! :rubchin: what do I win?! Zoe
  17. Although I am a Ford fan quite a few of those been mentioned already (you never see any mk4 XR3i, let alone the XR3's anymore) you don't see many Vauxhalls these days, i.e. mk1 cavalier SRi's, Astra Mk1 GTE or Mi 16's, AX GT... Think we've had most of the cars mentioned above over the last few years! (21 turbo, 5 turbo, montego turbo, capri laser, Renault 19 16v etc etc) Zoe
  18. I too have a petrol 1.8T Ambiente TDi first spoke to Skoda UK who said I needed to contact Type Approval for a certificate of confirmation, I've received this and it doesn't actually say RS on it (its got two codes, one for varient and one for version) so I've phoned Skoda UK again to say that DVLA wanted a letter (as Quinten has copied on the other page) so I hope the waiting for the cert of conf wasn't a waste of time if Skoda could've sent me the letter in the first place , anyone know if the certificate of confirmation is acceptable by DVLA? (even though its their own mess up) Zoe
  19. Well I never, I mean I didn't really want to sell the vRS, but coming up at a TDi at the guys insurance broker has put him right off as it is 'dodgy' :( Hopefully the cert of conf turns up in the post, just annoying that its DVLA's error and we have to do all the running about Thanks for the links, your search was obviously better than mine! BTW joined when bought the RS :wavey: Zoe
  20. My VRs is clearly not an Ambiente TDi! :thumbdwn: I am the second owner, the log book has been wrong since they first issued it, DVLA's f*ck up but now I have to get some letter to prove that the car is what it is (everything I have service book and history/paperwork show its petrol 1.8T) even the log book says petrol 1798 (or whatever the exact cc is) Skoda UK tell me it IS a vRS, I've now got the hassle of getting certificate of conformity etc, from talking to Skoda seems they mess up quite often Zoe
  21. I reverse out of my driveway everyday and have put my seatbelt on before pulling away, why would I not need to wear my belt in reverse? Thats what mirrors are for! Z
  22. Not that you all really need to know! But the dealer that carried out the cambelt change shirked responsibility and said if it looked find at the time of work they wouldn't have replaced it. So I took it to Frost Auto Services in Ipswich where the VW chap fitted me a new 'plunger' and water pump (which had a crack in it and no record of that changed at the time of belt), luckily the cambelt was ok to re-use, had the car back Wednesday. Top guys Z
  23. Luckily its had water pump, but surely they should've changed the 6 year old plunger at same time , so 10k miles later looking like having to pay for another blooming belt change to fix the plunger prob, dont want to use it now as belt seem far too loose! Zoe
  24. Well cleaned the throttle body today, was filthy - started her up and Jason said 'whats that noise' had a listen and took the cambelt cover off - the belt is pretty loose and covered in silvery grease (like oil mixed with metal filings) Looking into the service history, the cambelt was only changed at 123k!! As was a lease car previously (we bought from the owner who had it from his company) I don't have all the inspection sheets etc. This was done 10k ago 14 months ago (1 month off turning 6 years old by then!) Heard that the interval was changed to 60k so I'd expected this to be its second belt!(got AUQ engine, 2002 51 reg), have got one inspection sheet which says on the back check conditions 60k then thereafter 20k replace if necessary the underneath 1.8 petrol 120,000 (sheet rev date 05/2005 did they change the interval AFTER that?) Anyway regardless! The cambelt bill says tensioner belt and roller were replaced but no a 'plunger' I think this has failed - surely at 123k they would replaced the whole kit including this plunger, especially on that mileage - so now 10k after it was replaced I'm looking at having to pay out for another cambelt change Zoe
