  1. oops... Brabourne is just outside Ashford, not 'just outside Kent' - doh!
  2. Perodua (or however you spell 'em) - there's a dealer in my village! - Brabourne Lees just outside Kent.
  3. A slightly longer list... 1982 Austin Metro 1.0 1983 Austin Metro Turbo (some people never learn - two Metro's!) 1966 Downton Mini Cooper S (Absolute beauty - couldn't afford to restore it, leather upholstery & picnic baskets under the rear seats) 1988 Citroen AX GT (Tuned , silly 17" wheels, Group N suspension platforms - ride quality like a shovel to the back of the head - fun though!) 1995 Rover 418 SLD Turbo Tourer (company hack - possibly the daftest named car ever?) 1996 Land Rover Disovery TDi (went across fields like a king, went down the motorway like a 5ton jelly) 1998 VW Golf 1.6S (loved this car - prematurely killed by a 80ton crane reversing into it!) 2000 Skoda Octavia SLXi Turbo ('nuff said!)
  4. It's an slxi turbo.. dmac had one before his RS. No wood (or wood substitute) thankfully. Very nice inside - nearly all with black leather, although mine is burgundy and I think there are some floating about with petrol green interior (sounds foul!) - crappy little 15" wheels though!
  5. Anybody know anything about this?.. Toyed with changing my car recently, but will probably wait till next year, by which time I understand a new octavia is coming out?
  6. My cars done 45k now and have never given me any grief from the coilpacks (touch wood!).. Is there a difference with the packs used on the mk1 turbos and the later models? Martin
  7. Glad I'm not the only Groove Armada nut - funkyjutel - have you heard 'Lovebox' yet.. Still got a few copies of 'Martin Dunn - Praha 2002' - my dj set from Prague last oct (Lots of skodas there!) - No takers.. not surprising!.. my reputation obviously precedes me!
  8. My slxi turbo has no traction control, only EDL (Elctronic Diff Lock) and judders like anything if i give it the full monty in 1st/2ns on a loose/icy surface.. See previous 'judder' post
  9. Before I got my Octavia, I drove a Fabia TDi and was very impressed - to the point of nearly buying one.
  10. I wondered what that thing was.. spent quite a fair bit of time trying to pull it out before thinking it might be there for a purpose.. don't want all the sticky cack from parking tickets over your windscreen?... et voila!
  11. Carpets are dark grey - dash and side panels are a mixture of leather/grey plastic/black plastic - all looks a bit 'audi'. I'll get hold of a digital camera at some point and post a pic.
  12. I actually wanted an L&K, but didn't really like the wood(ish) trim too much.. Then i got a phone call saying that Skoda UK had 1.8t with burgundy leather and no wood that an exec had parted with for an RS after just 2300miles.. mine for 12k if I wanted it... I got it for 11k.. bargain! I have also been told that the number of skuds with this trim in the UK is around '20 or so'.
  13. My octy has now reached 45,000 miles and I notice that occasionally when cold, the engine will misfire very slightly for a couple of minutes.. doesn't always happen.. just cold?, crappy fuel?
  14. Well I've got full leather, heated seats and a 1.8t engine.. maybe I should slap on some wood trim and join philc!?
  15. My rather odd collection currently residing in the glovebox - older skud with single cd. Cassius - Au Reve Groove Armada - Lovebox Martin Dunn - Praha 2002 (available for a modest price!) DJ Pogo - The Breaks Coldplay - Rush of Blood to the Head Martin.
  16. Oh.. just me with one then?... I see...
  17. Heated seats are the business in this weather!... heated mirrors however are bloody expensive -

    meet?

Being originally from Norfolk (so i can stay at my mum's!) - I'm up for it.
  19. Well mine doesn't have esr or anything fancy.. other than EDL. Judders like the front of the car is going to come off if I floor it on a damp surface in 1st.
  20. Come on guys - let get a meet together in the new year! Martin (Lem) Kent
  21. Sorry lads, I'm going to have to pull out.. My Octy is down to about 2mm on it's brake pads and the airbag light has become a permanent addition to the dashboard lighting - so it's into the dealer on sunday morning.. How about a southern meet in the new year? Have a top day out guys!
  22. As a follow-up to my last post in vwvortex, I can now confirm that rather than swapping my skud for a diesel(!) renault, I will be moving closer to work in the new year and keeping my (somewhat quicker than it looks) SLXiTurbo. Might even treat it to a trip to Jabba - just the thing for when I next bump into that yellow rs in Ashford. He seemed rather surprised not to leave my (pretty bog standard looking from the outside) skoda standing in his wake, but to find me neatly tucked up under his rear spolier - got the thumbs up though! I have a few pics of my unusual interior (black/grey/burgundy leather) which I will get round to posting at some point.
