Today when I started my car and put in it reverse the parking sensor on the columbus was a full car not the rear of the car that I normally have. I dont have full parking sensors so was surprised to see the full car. The sensor lines that increase closer to an object were on the side of the full car on the display not appearing out the back. Then I went into the phone menu and it had connected to my BB but no memory or phone book was visible. On the MFD the phone book was fine, When I got to my destination I turned off the car and restarted. The reverse display on the columbus returned to normal and the phone book appeared ok again. I havent touched the firmware and wonder if anyone else has any issues like this., I couldnt find any settings in columbus to do with sensors so dont know why it changed.

I was wondering if anyone has an issue with the outside door handles not returning to flush with door after releasing. They (primarily the back ones) stick out about 5-8 mm and I have to push them in flush. Everyone that gets out of the back when checking to see the door is closed notices this and always goes to push them back manually as they dont return to where they started. This looks stupid in a the highest spec car in Skoda. Is it OK to grease them or shouldI get the garage to sort it under warranty. Anyone have any ideas or solutions. D

One other thing. Did you find any problems or improvements with the phone setup after upgrade or is it impacted at all. I have Blackberry storm and N97. Does it change the iphone compatibility. D

Thanks for that Bagpuss. I see several versions of 2664 on the web. What disk did you use. "standard firmware CD" Do you get a status update on the screen and do you need car running or just key in ignition.. Also if the cd is not OK (burnt at right speed or other issue) will it check the disk to see its OK to continue or will it continue and find an issue as it meets them. If it fails can it be retried by the CD or the old version put on by the dealers. My superb was bought in Feb 09 and does this make any difference. D

BurialConstant , Id love the thoughts of 32gb card. I like to have a folder structure for music and its a pain on the HD copying with a 2 gb card and I dont want to keep cutting DVD DLs I see on other sites where people that upgraded firmware themselves lost some functionality. Primarily with the buttons on the steering wheel. Did you update them your self by CD or something. Also would a skoda garage with the VAG equipment be able to update for me or is their latest offical version ancient anyway.

All, I was wondering if anyone had the side rear window blinds. Do they suffice as baby screens for the side windows or are they not good enough. If OK as baby screens are they hard to fit and are they sturdy when fitted. Can any one recommend a cheapper option to source them rather than the main dealers. Ive seen them in skoda web site for £85. I assume they are a pair (one for each side) yes/no. Ta D

Wow how things have changed. I have 170 elegance that I bought new from NI in Feb 09. Incl vrt and VAT I had it cleared for € 30,300 odd. I got off easy with extras charges so it could have been higher and the exchange rate wat 96 at that stage. The best price I could get with less spec straight was €36.5k in South. I was going to by the mid one in 170 for € 30k but decided to go north. I checked with the NI garage and they have no reduction. its in Ireland only. It shows the ripoff that was there all along. I pitty the lad that bought 170 Eleg in 09 in Republic. Enjoy your car its a cracker and the power is smooth. 1 thing though if 18" 225 40 tyres watch the ice as its holding is awful. I had a few frights yesterday.

RDH i know you dont have the Vredestein Wintrac Extreme tyres too long but how are they supposed to perform in summer. Also are they good wearing all year and whats the road noise like. Worse or better than the original continentals. Noise is often seen as a problem with winter tyres. D

Have to agree. Big wheels or not its a dog on the snow on ice forget it. Its more so ice here in mid west ireland rather than snow. I coldnt even get out my drive. Im back to my 2000 Seat Toledo which is holding up well. It upsets me to get into the old car every morning and walk past my new car but I think the Bi-Xenon headlamps with Adaptive Frontlights would be dearer to replace than my toledo not alone anything else like bumpers wings etc. sorry poor thustworthy toledo. I was expecting a thread like this for the last few weeks and knew it would come at some time. Roll on the summer. One last question. the continental tyres on the car at delivery (18" wheels) are they summer or all weather tyres. D

All,Im wondering if anyone has any issues with the gear change in 6 speed manual.It doesnt seem to change very smoothly. It feels like there is something loose where at the gear stick.Then last week I couldnt change gear at all. I had drove through a flash of water no more than 4-5 inches. Very slow in low gear.I dont know if this is related or not. If the water had effected being able to change any gear what would have been effected.I left the car run for 2 mins and could select gear no problem but he issue at the top was still there.Any Ideas anyone..D

I have 170 CR Diesel and have 7000 miles on the clock. I wont be going to the dealer I bought the car from as its too far but befoere I go to local Skoda service centers I want to know what is the interval of first service. Ive heard 10k miles, 20k miles or 30k kilometres. I have checked the site and the manual but the manual has loads of different scenarios. IS there different types of oils that make for different intervals between services. Thanks in advance D

All, I have a question on the Auto Wipers. They seem to not respond the way that you'd expect. In unchanging rain conditions the wipers would turn to any of the following from off to various speeds of intermittent to full on to fast full on when it doesnt seem to me that the rain has increased at all. What really annoys me is how fast they turn off even in rain. Is there a setting in COM to delay how quickly they either slow down or switch to intermittent from full or switch off altogether. I think there is too much switching, if the rain detected warrants full speed it should stay there for a while before changing to intermittent or stopping. To sum up in auto mode there would be lots of times where its hard to see out the windscreen because either the wiper hasnt come on or switched off when you feel it shouldnt. I have used auto wipers in other cars and it seemed more accurate. Any one know what are parameters for auto wipers. D

All is there a way to turn on the footwell lights as required when driving or to have them turned on all the time. Stuff is always falling on the floor in the back and the light would be handy to see the floor. Any Ideas

I had an issue with my storm whereby I would have to take battery out to get it to connect or power off and on. I since had to get a new storm and I dont have to do this anymore.

All, Im heading off for a few days today and saved a few locations in VCF fomat to destinations folder on SD card to have in sat nav. from Volkswagen Nav Companion - It's How the People Go. Thing is that I cant see the new locations from the SD card. I have mp3s on the card (not in the root just in folders). Is there a special way to present the files on the card or a special way to access the files on the sat nav from the SD. If i remove the SD card and reinsert it starts playing the music from the SD so its being recognised.

All, Has anyone devised a smooth way to copy music to the columbus HDD. I know I can copy the files or folders directly but it gets very disorganised. I initally put folders on the SD (Easy Listening, Rock, Chart, Full Albums etc) and copied the music to the card and copied the folders to the HDD. The intention was that I would empty the folders on the SD as there is only 2gb available and put new music in the folders and copy the folder onto the HDD. In windows the new music would be merged with the stuff already there but the columbus seems to want to delete the old folder on hdd and copy the one from the SD Card. Has anyone come up with a better solution while giving some form of organisation.

Berrymuncher I have the same car as you and the only ones I hear that dont like the rear of the car are owners. Everyone I meet is amazed by the car and not one has mentioned how the rear looks, not even a hint. So just enjoy it.... Look through the forum for instructions on newer maps.

Suner, as mentioned above I have the BB Storm which has rSAP and works with the columbus. There are a few little issues. 1: Repeated connection from car to the BB (say 3-4 in a row) will cause the connection to eventually fail. (you have to pop the battery to get it going again). I have the phone set to restart every night and the connection in the morning works no problem, unless you are in and out of the car all day then it will fail eventually. (Note- I havent heard others mention this and is my experience but is accurate and repeatable.) 2: When the phone is connected the BB is virtually off so you will not receive any emails on the BB and they will not appear in the MFD. (dont know if email comes through on other handsets while connected to the columbus). This can be a pain if you are waiting for an email and on a long journey. Text messages will apear on the MFD no problem. 3: Phone book updates no problem but its a manual process through the MFD menu.

Thanks for all the comments but it was only a light hearted question and as in the original question I thought that in the cars I've seen "overall they look better esthetically" than the yellow fogs. I wanted to see if anyone had changed theirs and if there are any issues. Thanks Again

Thanks Mannyo but its not an issue in our other car and I havent seen it in any other car either. The displays always show "TodayFM" Hopefully some other members who receive todayfm might be able to see if this is an issue for them also or just me. Only downside is the columbus unit is an extra on virtually all skodas / vws etc in Ireland. DF DF

All, Anyone know why the foglights dont have xenon bulbs to match the main bi-xenon lights. In most other cars I see with xenon the fogs are the same and overall they look better esthetically. The different bulbs in the Sup II doesnt look as good. Are xenon bulbs available for the fog lights and if so does anyone have them and are they an advantage or not. DF

All, This is going to sould odd but I have the irish radio station "TodayFM" as one of my predefined buttons on my columbus. When I change to todayfm the text "TodayFM" appears on the screen and on the MFD. The thing is that after a while it changes to "F1 93,5" on screen and MFD. There is no problem with any other radio station. I have deleted all presets and started again but to no avail. Any one else see this or have a solution. DF
