  1. Yes, they're still wanting 50 for run out models. I've read about the issues with the tdi engine, water pumps, dpf. egr etc. (plus the timing belt every 5years as opposed to a chain) and I'm leaning towards a tsi. Anyone towed with one? I'll be pulling about 1550 kgs
  2. That answers one question. I'm considering a 2.0 TSI and they're still asking 50k for run out models.
  3. Wow, thanks for such a comprehensive reply, I really appreciate it. I can't wait too long, I need a 4 x 4 for my daughter's new horse trailer. I wonder when they'll be available
  4. That's a bit disappointing. Wide summer tyres don't help I suppose
  5. I'm considering a nearly new Kodiaq and have three questions. Am I likely to get a great deal on nearly new considering the new model is imminent? Am I better off ordering new when available? Is the new model a quantum leap or big improvement (or otherwise) on the current model, which I haven't yet researched in depth? I'd appreciate any input.

  7. Am I right in thinking these issues are with the TDI engine? I'm car hunting and may go for the tsi instead
  8. Yes, but think how much more envious your other neighbours will be of the chap with the BMW (in his mind at least). In reality, very few cars engender envy of any kind, because everyone has "prestige" marques now thanks to PCP etc.
  9. This is what I thought. The option of changing suspension settings appeals to me, rather than hoping a standard setup would cope OK.
  10. Probably one haynet and a water container, perhaps 20 litres. I'd keep as much weight as possible in the car
  11. Still pondering, a petrol isn't out of the question, I need to do a couple of test drives, I think
  12. The trailer is stated as around 900kg and the horse has been weighed at around 650kg
  13. My daughter has bought a horse box so I need a 4wd car of some description. My Audi A4 Avant will tow it just fine but as soon as we get onto wet grass I know we'd be going nowhere. The trailer would be used perhaps once or twice a month , and I want a comfortable ride the rest of the time. My shortlist includes a Skoda Superb. I like the idea of the L and K 280tsi, with the adaptive suspension, because it can be firmed up whilst towing and softened when not towing. I also like the Audi Q5 but it always feels like their dealers are doing you a favour just speaking to you (Yeovil Audi, where I bought my A4, were an exception, being very good, but they are a long way away). Most Q5s also seem to be the M Sport, which I suspect does not have a great ride. I'm also looking at a Kodiak. My concern with the Superb is that the kerb weight is a bit close to the 1550 kg or so I'll be pulling. Does anyone tow with one of these?
  14. I have found, through owning my previous Octavia and my wife's current Citigo that these Skoda forums are easily the best of the car forums I've used.. I'm now looking for a 4wd car, as my daughter's bought a horse trailer. My shortlist includes the Superb 4wd and an Audi Q5. I asked the same question on the owners club Q5 forum about modern diesel cars and DPFs and received virtually no response. I have also found Skoda dealers to be much more approachable than Audi dealers, which is almost enough alone to push me back towards Skoda.
  15. I'm considering a nearly new Superb. I don't do huge mileages but I do tow a horse box every so often, so a torquey diesel appeals to me.. Are DPF issues still a thing for newer diesel engines or has adblue etc. resolved them? I'd be grateful to hear of people's experiences, especially lowish mileage drivers
  16. I've contacted my local Skoda dealer and apparently, they are H7 bulbs. Not sure if I can upgrade these? Don't want to complicate things with an LED upgrade that may cause issues.
  17. As my previous post, I want to upgrade the headlights on my wife's 2017 Citigo. Everyone recommends Osram H4s, but the car is the facelift model with separate headlight and main beam bulbs. is it possible to upgrade these? Bit confused now.
  18. Thank you, anyone tried Philips 12V H4 White Vision Ultra +60% ?
  19. I'm sure this has probably been asked before but I want up to date advice. I want to upgrade the headlight bulbs on my wife's 2017 Citigo, probably to halogen bulbs? The last time I drove it in the dark, I was shocked at how bad they are. Can anyone please advise what specification I need, I understand from YouTube videos that they are three pin connections? Any recommendations gratefully received.
  20. Can anyone please confirm whether my 2017 Citigo has a silica bag in the coolant header tank, as I understand that these are a blight on many VAG cars? I have had a look and can't see or any printing on the header tank to indicate the presence of one.
  21. My wife's Citigo is due a service. The manual specifies the difference between fixed servicing and variable servicing, VW 502, 504, 508 etc but, surprisingly, it doesn't specify what grade I should use. Last year I used 5w30, but some sources suggest 5w40 grade. We live in Yorkshire so average weather/temperature patterns. Can anyone please advise on which grade is better
  22. Are newer Superbs quieter? The only fault with my previous Octavia was the level of noise and poor NVH. It's why I now drive an Audi instead of a Superb. It's clearly where Skoda save money during manufacturing but it's not as if they are cheap cars any more. You shouldn't have to go to this extent with a new car to make it comfortably quieter. I would like to return to Skoda because the dealers are so much better than the universally dreadful Audi dealers
  23. As I recall, you shouldn't drive through red lights at speed, even on blues and twos. You should treat them as a give way sign, which does not usually mean driving through at speed
