  1. Hi JR, thanks for the warning, I did have a look at the brake bleed nipples the other week to make sure they weren't weeping after changing the fluid in the system, its grotty weather outside so when it improves ill give it a good look. No replies on the clutch so I assume you find out when you remove it.
  2. Welcome to the forums, Have you tried cleaning/drying out the ECU and refitting it ? what device are you using to read the ECU ? Apart from that you would need another member with the same car to read thier ECU and give you some settings to check/input with the same reading device. cheers Sparky
  3. Hi All, had a problem with the clutch the other day as the pedal was sticking halfway down and then I could only change gear when the pedal was right down, luckily I managed to get back home by topping up the fluid and I was only 3 miles away. I have fitted a new master cylinder and bled the clutch with an easy bleed kit as its the only way, pedal is now back to normal, but for how long ? GSF list a few clutches but only stock a few and that is about 4 types and 2 manufacturers LUK and SACHS. So does anybody know which type is fitted ? I did remove the under tray to check for leaks and couldnt see any from the clutch pipes, there was an engine oil leak at the top back of the engine that had gone right down to underneath the gearbox so I cleaned that up. cheers Sparky
  4. I would also check or change the ignition barrel/electrics as like inspectorman says there's a sensor inside that recognises the key chip and it should give a feed to the starter motor in the start position.
  5. Have a look on ebay and take a picture of your wheel bolt head and there are places that will send you the correct key head to fit just going off the pic, Ive replaced mine with a differant type as the key was wearing away inside and the only way I could remove the bolt was using a large bar and holding the key on striaght and even then it was touch and go !
  6. Hurray found it, I had the car up on axle stands for bleeding the brakes and it was slightly nose down, enough to form an air lock in the master cylinder as the fluid outlet is underneath on the end, I read on here that they raised the front of the car, and it worked ! I bled it with the gunsons easybleed fed off an old bike innertube and followed the Skoda instructions. Thanks for all the suggestions, Happy bunny.
  7. Hi JR, it looks like it's inside the bell housing so I presume concentric,I will try clamping the rubber pipe but there is absolutely no resistance on the pedal and I pumped it up and down 20 times ! Is there anything inside the main cylinder that gives problems ? I will show a pic of the main outlet pipe after removal as I don't know if the seal was still on it ? Although I would have thought it would pee out fluid if it wasn't there.
  8. Just been out to try it again and there's no resistance on the pedal, topped up the reservoir to the brim, didn't Use any new seals as it was weekend, yes to taking off the rubber inserts and fitting them to the pipe, carnt see any leaks, there's a round thing in the pipework at the back of the bulkhead ?, I've got a dentist app so I will try again in a couple of hours.thanks for people's help
  9. found how the garage does it.
  10. I've used a syringe and pushed the fluid through until no bubbles are in the clear tube into a bottle of fluid at the bleed end all with the pedal up, then I've reattached the inlet pipe onto the reservoir and topped up the reservoir and put the cap on, not tried the pedal as I'm going to leave it standing overnight and see what it's like Tomm lunch.
  11. I've taken off the master cylinder and ran some brake fluid through it and there were black bits coming out so I've bought a new cylinder,it's now fitted and I've just tried pressuring it with a gunsons bleed kit (20psi), it blew out into a jar with fluid in and blew bubbles and fluid, pedal goes straight to floor, I'm now going to try taking the reservoir down to below the clutch outlet remove that pipe and inject clean brake fluid until no bubbles come out of the slave cylinder bleed valve with the pedal up.
  12. Hi J, Clutch was working fine beforehand, we're due to go to France a week on Tue leaving home next Fri with our caravan so checking the car over decided to change the brake fluid, did that yesterday OK, so this morning bled the clutch with the wife, open valve pedal down shut valve pedal up etc, only trouble is the pedal was staying down and not returning so she hooked her foot behind it and flipped it up, fluid was coming out dirty so kept going until the fluid stopped even though I was topping up the reservoir and never went below half way, now there's nothing coming out of the bleed valve. So I'm thinking the clutch master cylinder needs new seals. Cheers Stuart
  13. Hi All, yesterday changed the brake fluid OK on my 2009 Scout,it says then it's best to bleed the clutch which was going OK but now it won't get any pressure and the pedal stays down and there's no fluid coming out, brake reservoir has been topped up but now there's nothing. Any clues ? I'm thinking main clutch cylinder seals. Cheers Stuart
  14. Shes been offered £1700 off the solicitors that are doing the joint claim, I think it only goes to the original purchaser of the car which is us as we still have the car. Its paid out of court as VW were at fault for fitting a cheat device, it looks like other manufacturers are also facing claims going off adverts from solicitors on facebook,
  15. The wife has via some solicitors
  16. I am hearing that VW are paying out each claim £2100 that includes our 1.6TDi - BREAKING (5.30pm, Wednesday 25 May 2022): England & Wales Volkswagen Group claim settled out of court The original England & Wales claim against Volkswagen Group (VW), involving some vehicles fitted with the EA189 engine, has today been settled out of court and will now NOT be going ahead to a full trial. According to the law firms leading the claim, VW will make a payment of £193m to the 91,000 claimants (with a separate contribution being made by VW towards the claimants' legal costs and other fees). We're looking into the details of the settlement and what it means for consumers, and will update this guide when we know more.

  19. Hi All, Daughters MK1 2002 Fabia TDi 4 door, drivers window dropped then found the wire for the electric motor broke, the original part was 6Y2837752J, looking on ebay its more expensive than 6Y2837462 thats supposed to fit the same car, as far as I can see the only differance could be a hole for the door red marker light cable. Anybody fitted 6Y2837462 as a replacement or knows of another differance ? Cheers Stuart
  20. Thanks for that Aperture5, I did Google the numbers and like you say there just plug and socket numbers with nothing else marked on the box, and its potted in compound ! The plug and sockets relate to temp sensors so like you say it would just have the engine running rich, time to start digging into the compound just to find a resistor !
  21. Bought at car boot sale this morning
