Stream radio: Poor performance
Octy-KUT replied to fredw's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk II (2004 - 2013)
There is a massive thread over at www.octavia-forum.de discussing just this, it seems that it is a hardware problem and all the firmware update does is encourage it to switch to Mono more readily. I have an Audience and I find the reception pretty rubbish as well. Unfortunately my dealer doesn't think there's anything wrong with it. In Germany at least, Skoda Auto Deutschland have acknowledged the problem and hinted a fix is on its way. Fingers crossed it makes it over here! -
Skoda Hands Free Integration

As far as I know the kit does integrate with MaxiDot -
Gurgling sound from fuel tank
Octy-KUT replied to fabia03's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk II (2004 - 2013)
Very strange... good to hear the noise has gone! -
That's exactly right (for all VAG cars with the feature)

Another vote for NOD32 here, it really is worth paying for! http://www.nod32.com/home/home.htm
-
That was/is exactly the type with the single zone version of Climatronic fitted to VAG vehicles.
-
Glad to hear you got a positive result

Weight perhaps?

VAG engines have the edge on fuel economy and a really good standard torque curve. The competition mostly use common rail technology which is quieter and more refined, but I'd still choose a VAG engine. As Jon TDI said, the Honda engine is an excellent achievement but the engine drives a lot like a petrol one as well!

So will this experience encourage you to RTFM next time? :P

As I've said, silicone (and other lubricants) do work but aren't a permanent fix. BMW had a similar problem with the previous 5 series and 3 series. The eventual fix was a modified seal (which took 2 years to release!) but as a stopgap solution a lubricant made by Fuch's called Carbaflo was used. It's a fluoropolymer similar to Teflon that forms a permanent film over the rubber. I'm trying to convince my dealer to get some but it's pretty expensive.

Turbo-lag? Isn't 2.5K around where it gets going?
-
Skoda should do something about this. BMW had exactly the same problem with the previous generation 5 series. It was 2 years before they issued a modified seal which corrects the problem. It really makes the car seem low quality. I'm getting fed up of colleagues smirking and saying "told you so" when they ride in my car :(

Thanks for the advice Goochie, the trouble I've found with vaseline is that it attracts dirt very easy and remains sticky. The car is with the dealer now, I do hope a solution can be found.

After two visits back to the dealer, the creaks in my car are still driving me crazy. After a lot of investigating, it seems that the door seals are the culprit. Lubricating with silicone cures the problem for a few days at most. Obiviously this isn't an acceptable solution. Has anyone else had problems with creaks of this sort? Also, are your door seals 'all-rubber' (like mine) or do they have a furry top seal like the old Octavia, the Fabia and most other modern cars? Thanks

roo, apparently some of the recent ones are Delphi made
-
The Audience is made by either of two suppliers: Visteon or Delphi. AFAIK the Stream is only made by Visteon.
-
Lummox, the OP says the car is 4 months from delivery; I mentioned my dealer informed me 4 weeks prior to build week was the cut-off point
-
Sounds ridiculous to me; if I remember correctly, options could easily be added to a factory order until approximately four weeks prior to the build week.
-
There were some reports from Germany that this was due to a bad weld; the dealer found it after removing the floor on that side and following the path of the water as they soaked the car from outside. Hope it isn't so serious for you.

URGENT!! Help needed on colour!!!
Octy-KUT replied to golfturbo's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk II (2004 - 2013)
Well, Graphite was my first choice until I saw it for real; my impression is that it needs to stay very clean to look good. I've had my car for 2 months now and I must say it hides dirt quite well, also I love the fact that it changes colour from grey to blue or silver depending on the light -
