  1. Again, thank you all for your kind words. The car is still in at the moment although a little delay will mean it will be nearer the middle of next week before we see the near-finished product
  2. Hi Cliff, could you add me to the GB please as I liked the last lot so much it would be good to have some spares. It would be 'OEM minus green' badges in 88mm, 80mm but also 4 x wheel badges at 60mm (these are aftermarket wheels so not the usual 55mm centre cap). Cheers, Dave
  3. Thank you. The car has been cherished and treated well. On a slightly different note, I am dropping the price by £500. £7500 was the point where I could take a lot of the modifications off myself and sell the car as standard and sell all the modifications to be in profit. £7000 is where I could pay someone else to do the same job so would be a fixed price. As most of you will know from the project thread for my new car, I have had some devastating news in my personal life and I can not see myself having the motivation to strip the car back despite my interest in tinkering with cars. Furthermore, I imagined myself tackling the car on the driveway on a hot sunny July weekend and, let's face it, that seems like a sick joke at the moment!
  4. Very wise - They are a little difficult to sneak through the front door!
  5. Price drop to £450 + p&p before they go on eBay.
  6. Looks great Mark! I particularly like the speed dial for a Thai massage!!
  7. Thanks for all your kind words, chaps. As you can imagine, it has been horrific. It would inappropriate to describe the things that I have witnessed on this forum but I hope that something positive will come of it in terms of the press statement and warning to other kids going out tomorrow. I am still going to drop the car off at JKM tomorrow as any distraction is a good thing at the moment.
  8. Thanks chaps, it has been pretty awful. The details are still sketchy but it appears that he was at an end of term party and took something which is described as 'a legal high' and had a massive physiological reaction to it. So, if anything positive can come from this, it is for anyone else with kids who think that just because something is legal that it is safe. If you hear any kid saying that, feel free to direct them to me and I will describe what the aftermath can look like!
  9. Folks, my car is still going in next week but forgive me if I do not update this thread as often as I would wish....my 19 year old son died yesterday. I hope you can understand my priorities.
  10. I will give it a couple more weeks and then it's back to standard :(
  11. Cheers y'all I have no plans to track the new one - I'll probably drive it like the old man that I am. 1 week today and it will be down to JKM
  12. I also love to see folks break away from the norm and kudos to you for doing that! If I am honest, they dont float my boat but I could be up for the same critisism with my choice of wheels.
  13. I think I will need to see a few before I do that. At the moment I am not too convinced. I have always liked the idea of car that looks nearly OEM but with a surprise under the bonnet
  14. On Monday morning it was down to the tyre fitters to swap the tyres from the black Neptunes for Ronal R41s Maybe not everyones cup of tea but it works for me. Still to come this weekend, sill protectors on rear doors, adventurous eh? Still in the garage is a Blueflame turbo back exhaust, Quaife ATB diff, Airtec intercooler, ITG intake, Bilstein B12 kit, Porsche 4-pot calipers Going to drive it for another week or so to make sure everything is running tickety boo and then it is booked in to JKM for some serious stuff.
  15. After 20mins on the driveway it was clear that the chrome grille surround had to go so that was in to the garage and the following day... Badges courtesy of Pastyboy on here:
  16. My new toy arrived last weekend - a new TSI VRS in candy white which will eventually replace my TFSI VRS which also is a K04 convert. Here is a picture of the happy couple and a few of the new car Got black Neptune alloys as an option: ...and alcantara black/red interior: Modding plans: K04, Revo software, Blueflame turbo back exhaust, Quaife ATB diff, Sachs clutch, ITG intake, Airtec intercooler, Bilstein B12 kit, Porsche 4-pot calipers, THS engine mounts and a bit of cosmetic stuff. So on to the modding....
  17. Jeez, I haven't heard of too many K04s doing that. I know Simon does a lot of mileage but what else was going on to do that? I haven't written off the possibility of going bigger than K04 but not at this time. My car is a commuter and there is a balance of driveability to think about. Big turbo equates with big turbo lag, dropping down two gears everytime to overtake and I am not sure how often I could realistically use the extra power on a public road. If I go that route I may consider an IHI. Jim@JKM has spare TSI engine to test out strengthened internals so I will watch and see how that goes before jumping in myself. I kinda agree with you there. The FL is growing on me but I still prefer the meaner look of the pre-FL!
  18. I have for sale the black Neptune alloys in 18" that came with my car last Saturday. I swapped these out for aftermarket alloys that I had the same day. As you can guess, they are pretty much spotless. So these alloys are brand new and have covered 15 miles only that was the delivery mileage plus the trip to the tyre fitters to swap tyres on to my new wheels. This is alloys only - there are no tyres on them. Here is a picture of one of them on the car: And in the box: Looking for £500 by bank transfer or Paypal gift. Buyer to collect from Waterlooville area of Hampshire or I am happy to give dimensions and weight of the boxes/wheels for you to arrange for Parcelmonkey.co.uk or other courier to pick up. Thanks, Dave
  19. I used the stick on badges from pastyboy on here without the badge holder :
  20. Harry, I feel that we have been through this together with the k04 stuff....the only difference being that my engine is as sweet as a nut and you blew yours up. Lol Seriously Harry, my new car arrived on Saturday and despite being standard and shiny and new and unmodded, I still want to jump in the older K04 TFSI on my driveway....it is just a tonne of fun! With hindsight, I have made a big mistake and you clearly have more brains than me...l should have thought about running this car for a long time yet given the investment. I can say with all honesty that you are definitely doing the right thing with yours!! I am taking the new TSI car in for a K04 conversion in two weeks. Currently it is tame, quiet, refined and as dull as ditch water compared to the TFSI. The mods are nearly identical but I will hang on to this car until the wheels fall off...I am not making the same mistake twice by selling a car for a fraction of the cost of the investment!
  21. To be honest Sy, it may still be here in November with the way things are going. I have been listening to a friend today who thinks that I should stop being an old man, SORN it and track it!...problem is that I have never had track day tuition and I drive like an old man!
  22. Saw a 12 plate green VRS last night with Winchester Skoda decals in Chandlers Ford last night. It had the black neptunes and a bit of cosmetic modding and looked stunning!
