  1. The way i did it was to feed the hose down the fuse panel to the right hand side of the dash. i then poked it through the bonnet release gromit and tapped into the FPR. its not ideal because the hose isnt long enough to run a clean install. (It just stretches accross the engine bay) as for wiring i just used the headlight switch but im not sure about the smoked gauges :wonder: I'll post some pics tonight

  2. thats odd i have the same kit, and apart from trimming the bumper to get it fit nice a snug i head no issues what so ever, i found it realy easy to fit. never had a boost hose pop of and it aint standard map either. when i connected all my boost pipes up i left them ALL loose until i was happy with how it all sat, who fitted it for you? im a mechanic so i did mine my self.

if your on a budget then the toyosport jobby of ebay is good.

I fitted it myself, maybe thats why :giggle: might have another bash at it in the summer and use some different hose clips

  3. I fitted an ebay fmic to mine and it was prety terrible. I couldnt get the clamps to tighten enough so the pipes just kept flying off in really awkward places to reach. 1st time it did it i nearly had a heart attack, it sounded like a kettle boiling and then an almighty pop and a hissing sound :S If i had been going up a slip road i imagine a really large crash could have been on the cards  i wouldnt trust them. possibly ok on a standard mapped car but im on a stage 2 running about 21psi. As for weather or not it works, i would say yes, after driving it for a couple of miles, the turbo side pipe work was roasting hot, but the pipe going to the throttle body was stone cold

  4. Yeah thats for a manual, im not sure why you would need the hill holder for an automatic. Its main purpose is to hold the car so you can keep your foot on the clutch pedal and then move your foot from the brake to the gas pedal. But there is no clutch pedal with a DSG box so your always going to have one foot free anyway :)

  5. Had this on my old impreza, You need to press the brake while your on the hill. You can then take your foot off the brake (As long as its still in gear) and then once you give it some gas and bring the clutch up to a certain point the brakes release and off you go. Its a strange feeling at first but i really liked it

  6. I've got a piper downpipe and sports cat on my vRS. However last year it past its emisions by .1%. im a little bit worried that its going to fail this year and im wondering if the cat is on its way out. I did send off the Warranty info but i never got anything back. Should i have? Just wondering if i can replace it under warranty instead of paying another £400

  7. No 5, My GF's did this the other week. The clock and light would stay on after the engine was switched off. So we disconnected and reconnected the battery and input the radio code and it worked fine after that. But i would only try that if you have the code for the radio

Should also point out it wasn't on a skoda it was a renault clio

  8. I've got a stage 2 map on mine and its brill, had it for a year now without any probs. The STS unit is great too, its like a 2 in 1. If you ever have the engine light come on, just plug the unit in and read the codes and then clear them

so not only are you getting a map, your also getting a diagnostics tool which is brill (Saves you having to pay a garage to plug the car into there computer) Its soo easy to use. From memory i think it took about 15-20 mins to upload the new map and like you say you can always put it back to standard to. For the money i think its a great product and a great service from Ben, im sure i recieved mine next day too.

  9. Yeah i am planning using the minimum amount of sealant just to make sure, i do think though it should be made part of a interval service just because of the damage that it can casue to the engine, its not worth the risk all in all the parts i ordered came to 38quid, i would rather pay that than pay to get my engine replaced lol

Ah but its a good excuse to "Uprate" your engine should it go pop :giggle:

  10. Where can i get steel wheels that will fit my 2005 octavia? i read somewhere that ones from an ordinary octavia wont fit over the brake calipers on the vRS.

Which wheels will fit? I need to put some snow tyres on mine for when the next wave hits. Its such a hurrendous car to drive with 225's on

  11. well im 22 and my first car was a 1994 vauxhall corsa 1.2 with 4 gears haha. then i bought a 1998 Honda civic EJ9 1.4 16 valve. this thing was prety nippy for what it was. Next was my 1999 Subaru Impreza (Uk turbo) absolutely loved this car and wish i'd never sold it, unfortunately it was costing me an arm and a leg to run. And now i have my 2005 Octavia vRS
