  1. going to try camskill tomorrow for prices on some v rated tyres.
  2. Thanks for that, next question, anyone know where to by 16x6 et30 or 6.5 et35 steels? can only seem to find et50s.
  3. hi, Finally decided to take the plunge and fit winter tyres, could just do with knowing what offset i will need with 6.5 x 16 steel rims to keep the outer face the same as the standard 18",anyone got any ideas? Thank you.
  4. Have decided to keep the octavia and would like to carry out a few mods starting with a set of eibach springs. Two questions: A previous post mentions a problem with the tyres fouling the arches when fitted with spacers, are the spacers fitted purely for aeshetic reasons or is it because the tyres touch the inner arches with lower springs? Also has anyone used midland vw near cannock? Cheers.
  5. Nothing to do with the car or colour, is that Madingley near Cambridge?
  6. For sale, my 2010 facelift octavia cr vrs; 20,000 miles autolights/ wipers rear parking sensors full size spare tow bar prep with detachable witter tow bar [used twice] fitted with a set of unmarked 18" neptune in graphite also going with the car will be the original undamaged 18" zeniths The car was purchased new by my girlfriend and bought by myself off her in june, it is unmarked with no dents, dings, scuffs or scratches. genuine reason for sale [raising funds for motorhome] price, have been undecided about what to ask, prices seem to vary wildly but have decided to put it on here for £14,900. I will advertise elsewhere when I have had a bit of feedback from forum members [or maybe a sale]
  7. If its a good quality repair no one should ever know including the dealership! If done properly theres no reason why it should cause any problems in the future.
  8. bumper and boot lid will need painting for sure, a good painter should be able to soft edge mask the boot so the top wont need to touched.
  9. Cant imagine it will work but might be worth a try. Bought a new grille surround some time ago with the intention of painting it but have so far been unable to get the chrome off, 80 grit paper barely scratches it and i know from experience that it will need to come off before it can be painted with any degree of success. I may see if a chroming company can strip it chemically without dissolving the plastic.
  10. Someone skilled at using a shot blaster may be able to take off the chrome without going through the copper/nickel underneath but it would have to be done very carefully, once your through to the plastic the surround would disappear very quickly
  11. I bought a new replacement grille surround with the intension of painting it but am looking for a way of stripping off the chrome, are tales of using bleach or oven cleaner urban myths, I find it very hard to believe they would work. Has anyone actually tried it?
  12. just bought my girlfriends vrs with 19k on the clock and am having two new sport contact 2s fitted tomorrow, 19k seems good going for a pair of tyres, not sure i will get the same!
  13. Thanks for the pictures, Think i will give it a try.
  14. Might have a go at getting a picture up, just dont hold your breath. Am bloody useless on these computer things! Did try sitting a wheel on some blocks and offering it up to the car, looked ok but cant be 100% sure.
  15. Hi Anybody out there any good with photoshop? Reason being i have a set of 18 inch neptunes in dark grey, Was hoping to buy and fit them to a race blue pre fl hatch but have ended up with a red fl estate! Would like to know what they will look like on the red estate without having to have the tyres swapped over. They would have looked ok on a blue car but red...... not so sure. So if anyone could post a pic of a red estate with dark grey neptunes? Many thanks
  16. Just noticed your car is white, would definately take it to a quality bodyshop. Even in the cleanest environment the chances of achieving a completley dirt free finish are slim and as most dirt nibs are dark in colour they will show more on white car so trying to do it outdoors under a tent for me is a no no.
  17. What colour is the car? Wouldnt really reccomend a smart repair ie blow in on a bonnet. better to blow the basecoat in and lacquer out the panel. Chips away quality is wholly dependent on the skill of the individual, i thought about doing it myself and attended a seminar where i was the only person there that had worked in the refinishing trade.
  18. Thanks for that, will be usefull. Did a search and found some photos of the bumper removal process so am a lttle better informed now.
  19. Hi Does anyone have any experience of taking off and refitting a rear bumper from a facelift vrs estate? I would rather know where all the fixings are before i start
  20. popped in today to have a look at a 57plate vrs, didnt take long, nearside front wing had a surface like the moon and looked like it had been painted with an aerosol can. Dont know how a franchised dealer could present a car for sale in this condition.
  21. You mean they were initially, withdrawn and then re introduced?
  22. Hi all, could anyone tell me if 18" wheels were an option on early mk 2's ? thank you.
