Octavia Upper Strut Brace (eBaY link inside)
vRShafz replied to vRShafz's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk I (1996-2004)
my car is low as fook, and the brace will be the lowest part of the car and will take an absolute battering! (my front bumper already scrapes) -

Carputer/CarPC Install - My Work in Progress
vRShafz replied to Rhoobarb's topic in Audio, Electronics and Security
iv fitted mine in my vrs a month ago for those interested in the spec Intel atom d945gclf2 mini itx mobo m2-atx 160gb hd 2gb DDR2 Ram Windows 7 64bit centrafuse 2 front end Voom case Double Din liliput touch screen (bezel need some work doing to it) gps receiver, camera, wireless etc oh an I can use 3g net by tethering it of my iPhone Today i managed to get it all crammed in the case The case acts like a big heatsink and a Hovis shot for people and a Heinz beans one too to show the height of the case Then i moved on to stripping the Dash down. Nice double Din space I then modified the Double Din frame to fit inside the space. That was as far i got on that front. i need to do some filling and sanding so i left that for today i then moved onto giving the PC a Home in the boot. I opted to use the spare wheel well foam as its out of site + the foam will act as a shock absorber Foam Before and after some cutting the pc fits in perfectly i did have to trim some more to accommodate the ports Since i want to control volume through my standard headunit, i had to relocate it.This will be going into theglove box After some cuts/bruises/swearing..i managed to get the wiring loom free so its enough to plug into the headunit in the glovebox This will be securely fastened once i get time to finish it car as iv left it for today i love the fact we have more daylight roll on modding days! im hoping to have this all in fairly soon! comments welcome *update* done a few more bits and bobs All in the boot with wiring and then carpet hides everything headunit in the glovebox - this is purely for speaker output and the big switch on was this evening and im pleased to say it went without a hitch the screen will now be smoothed in so it sits flush with everything else Only fitted it for now for testing purposes at night done -
stalk and wiring can be bought of ebay for £80ish with fitting instructions you will need VAG COM to get it activated though

Squeaking front end, feel it is the wish bones.
vRShafz replied to DBP's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk I (1996-2004)
iv fitted some 19mm superpro bushes which i bought from Awesome and they are top (fitted fine on the bar without sleeves) -
When i turn the steering to the right, i can hear a god awful rubbery grinding sound coming from the middle of the car..more towards the passenger side of the car. I initially thought it was a CV joint but as mentioned noise is from middle of car Iv jacked the front end up and tried to replicate the sound by spinning the wheel and turning the wheel but all seems ok All the gaiters seems fine with no splits or any sign of leaks anywhere It only happens when i turn right, left is ok...also happens when driving in a straight line and accelerating hard I am thinking is the wheel bearing anyone got any other ideas as to what it could be? Car is not Lowered from the front, has had new wishbones/balljoints/new arb bushes/new droplinks edit - Was the wheel bearing...all sorted now

Evening chaps...iv been busy fitting my coilovers this afternoon When i removed the springs of the rear of my car i noticed that they were aftermarket.....when i scrubbed the dirt away from them it said "Koni 40mm" Am i right in thinking these were NOT for the vRS? i cant see any other codes on there anyone know how high a standard octy is compared to the vrs? Only done the rears so far and here is a little teaser chuffed with the look and handling . ride is not that much harder then it was before. Will be tacking the other side next weekend

the rubberised coating has come away or is non existant where it has been jacked :( so am i best off just treating that area, or will i be ok doing as much as the car as possible

Got a few new things so I can change when i put the coilovers on: Top mounts and bearing New Pinch bolts and top nuts from VW 2 new stabiliser links New Dogbone mount (as the one on mine is cracked) together with new bolts Some undersealer (spray and brush on) Have already fitted new wishbones with bushes and balljoints and Superpro ARB bushes and that should be that!
