Tasteful Alternative to Pikey Mod?
Octavia Red replied to tri_longer's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk I (1996-2004)
I installed a pair of these to a friends Octy about a year ago. It was suprisingly easy to do, you get a stick on template so you can drill, file and cut exactly where you have to. I did however have a problem with getting the vents to sit flush with the bumper. You get some black adhesive stuff which is awesome, but we had to use clamps to hold it in place for a while. The finished product looked was excellent -
I realised my error just as i hit return. Damn my eyes!!!

Octavia vRS boost problem.
Octavia Red replied to Joel_vRS's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk I (1996-2004)
try a search on a thread called "Where does this pipe go" or something similar. It may or may not help you zero in on your problem. If you do manage to locate the problem let me know:thumbup: -
Is it Octy or Furby?
-
I'm gunna go for the green sensor i think?
-
Would a faulty coolant sensor cause loss of power on the octy rs?
-
That looks tidy:thumbup:

Sounds like it could be the ABS, what speed does this occur?

I know of turbo technics, I'll make an enquiry about the kits for the k03. If the job's done correctly it can't be bad right?
-
Anyone know if this is possible for the octy RS turbo?
-
By any chance is there anyone with Vag-Com local to bristol?
-
That's great thanks a lot. I'll be Attacking the job as soon as I get a clutch kit for it. Also i've been thinking about giving the turbo an overhaul, I know you can clean diesel turbos yourself but is there anything you can do with the petrol k03s?
-
Excellent that's all I need to know. Many thanks for that

Good call. I'm not bad at DIY mechanics so I'm going to give it a go myself, do you know of anything that might cause me a bit of trouble, hidden nasties?
-
I'm getting the old whiring sound when the clutch is raised, depress and it's gone. Has anyone changed this themselves? The clutch has got lots of bite so I don't really want to change the whole thing but it may be the way to go if the gearbox is apart?
-
I'll do a search, I just want to be 100% sure that I make the right choice as it's quite an expensive modification. I'm sure it's worth every penny, as were the carbonio CAI and the blueflame system.

Bigger wheels, slower acceleration?
Octavia Red replied to Octavia Red's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk I (1996-2004)
To be honest I never noticed any changes in handling, in anything it could've even improved. -
I'm seriously considering getting my Octy RS mapped soon, I've already got CAI and blueflame full system with 100cell cat, so what I really want to know is what power figures am I looking at with these mod's, and would a 4 bar revo map or a Jabba custom code be the way to go?

Bigger wheels, slower acceleration?
Octavia Red replied to Octavia Red's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk I (1996-2004)
I've been thinking of getting some new wheels so I'll look for some lightweight wheels, or maybe even go back to 17s? -

So stick with 17s for performance. Is it true that the turbo spools up quicker when pulling more weight then? -
Good afternoon all. I changed my standard 17" RS alloys for 18" rs8 alloys a while back, and I was thinking yesterday. The 18s must be heavier, so therfore I'm loosing out on acceleration right? But I read somewhere that the turbo spools up quicker when it's pulling more weight, so would it balance itself out?

Hi all, I'm wondering if anyone knows where I can get about 5 litres of rally red spray paint ready for compressor use. My front bumper along with some other bits need some slight attention so I'm going to do the work myself. I recently colour coded the black strips on the car using spray cans and it turned out great but it cost me about

I had a problem with engaging reverse for a while, one day i thought i'd have a fiddle with the adjustable linkages that are attached to the gear box. After about 2 minutes of running backwards and forwards checking the changes made by very slight adjustments, the gearbox feels brand new now. Be careful though, I'm sure you could a lot of damage if you make too much of an adjustment. I marked the threads before I moved anything.

Plastic / Rubber Trim Removal Help
Octavia Red replied to Gandalf's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk I (1996-2004)
I removed the strips on mine and colour coded the bumper inserts. It looks great when the cars clean but I couldn't remove all of the adhesive that stuck the strips on the doors so you can see where the strips used to be when the car's dirty. -
