  1. Without going into too much detail, I had 4 defective tyres on my Touran discovered at 1st service. Dealer tried to get replaced, but referred me to VW Customer Service - "They're wear and tear items, our warranty clearly states they're not covered." "OK - I'll see you your warranty and raise you the Sale of Goods Act - the items were clearly defective at the time of supply.... " <went away to speak to supervisor; rang back 30 mins later> "Your dealer has 4 new tyres waiting for you...."
  2. I can get 50mpg if i drive gently. Also comes top in another league: http://www.telegraph.co.uk/motoring/green-motoring/8027759/Is-your-car-as-clean-and-green-as-you-think.html
  3. My most enjoyable drive in my Yeti was driving from the Lakeside hotel to Windermere in a lightly falling snow - with the sunroof wide open ! Heated seats on, climate on, but bags of fresh air / stunning scenery - beautiful. Really would not have been the same without - awesome bit of kit. (Saying that, mine closed afterwards....).
  4. Superchips have one: Stock is more than 160 - VW are known for underestimating !! http://www.superchips.co.uk/curves/VAG%201.8%20TSi%20160.pdf
  5. So what mods have you had done ? A bit more than a K&N filter I'm guessing...?
  6. Like jogging did you ? Or cooking ? A pant in the country ?
  7. I used to live in Newark, but moved for anagrammatical reasons.
  8. Whenever I read reports in car magazines going on about whether a dashboard is soft feel or not - I always wonder "who cares ?". Now I've found someone who does. I stand corrected. I also was amused by the "damped" grab handles in my Touran. Yes, then were nicer than the undamped in my then Fabia - but hardly ever used.
  9. I actually got a 275 (now discontinued ?) off ebay - £50 I think. Worth keeping your eye on.
  10. The loom is used to provide a feed to the pnp amp, then this output gets pushed back into the original speaker wiring. Really easy to do. If you use the pnp amp and loom, it provides a switched feed to the amp automatically (and therefore a "wake up" feed to the powered sub). As the powered sub is pretty low powered, I used an "add a circuit" (http://www.autoelectricsupplies.co.uk/product/715) to tap into a permanent live feed from the fusebox next to the steering wheel. Preferably I would wire direct to battery, but as you say bulkhead is not the easiest.
  11. I figured I could pay the local audio fitter to tap into the speaker wires to get a feed, or instead put the money towards Blaupunkt pnp amp and loom - took the latter option - really easy to fit - not a single wire cut (so easy to return to stock and maybe reuse in yeti replacement as and when).
  12. I have the PNP loom, that passes through the amp. The phono feeds are live (I use these to feed a signal to my powered sub). I only have a 2 channel amp, so fronts are amped, whilst rears are not. My amp has a remote for controlling gain/volume.
  13. Could be worse... A friend of mine went out with a particularly "enthusiastic" young lady once. On a cold Saturday morning he and his mum went shopping into the local town - as they jumped in the windows misted up, revealing an akimbo set of prints of her size 5s on the windscreen,,,,,
  14. Many thanks all - deal done today. They were not on as default, so asked them to enable as part of the PDI. Which brings me on to... can Auto-Locking be set on the Elegance (i.e. locks above 10kph or so, unlocks then you remove ignition key ?) ?
  15. Thanks - I have them already on my Yeti. Looking at an elegance in the showroom it seemed to have "extra" bulbs in the foglight cluster - but the dealer was unsure as to whether they were standard ?
  16. Looking at ordering a 1.2 tsi 85hp for my step-mum, as a replacement for her 3 year old Fabia. In the Elegance spec, you get fogs as standard. Do these come with Daytime Running Lights ?
  17. I'd actually specced a (company) Golf up with over £2k worth of extras. Most of these were standard on the Yeti in Elegance trim, so decided on that instead.
  18. When we test drove the wife's car it came in 115/140/175. She opined "just get the one you'll be happy with..." That's my girl.
  19. In mine the headunit goes to the pnp amp, which then routes to the normal speakers. Sub gets connected to the phono line out for l/r signal feed. For power, as only an active sub, I connected via a fused spur to the fuse box next to the steering wheel (10 amp fuse fitted - just in case ! - 20 amp on the subwoofer itself).
  20. You can add a Blaupunkt "plug and play" amplifier and harness. http://www.bluespot.co.uk/shop-online.aspx/amplifier I have one attached to my Yeti Bolero - drives an active sub under the passenger seat. All without cutting a wire. Not cheap - got mine off ebay - they do crop up now and again.
  21. Says towbar prep - and has a hole in the back spoiler. That's worth a grand on its own....
  22. If "safety" is your top priority - the loom/software update is the best way to go. It enables anti-snaking in the ABS. Bypass relays will not provide as much safety, as the vehicle does not "know" it is towing. Saying that - I paid £500 for my (fully software enabled) detachable on my S-Max - not quite sure why the Yeti is so dear in comparison.
  23. One "secret" that's possibly in the audio manual - but I've just only noticed today. If you "mute" when playing media it automatically pauses - very clever !!
  24. Indeed - however I figure I use my fogs in genuine conditions once or twice a year. DRLs / Cornering Fogs get used every day ?
  25. Now that the nights are drawing in a bit, the xenons are kicking in more. One of the few things that niggle me with the Yeti is that Skoda took the trouble of fiting a "blue" parking light bulb at the front, but when DRL and especially cornering fogs are on, they're quite yellow. What do the team think of http://www.lamin-x.co.uk/ - was wondering if a layer of the "Optic Blue" over the round DRL/Fog lense would make it look a bit more coordinated ?
