  1. Correct but hydrodipping never looks like the real thing and I got other (real) carbon fiber parts on the car and the difference will be notable. At the moment I'm in talks with someone who might be able to wrap them in carbon fiber for a reasonable price.
  2. I've been looking for carbon wing mirror covers and I'm unable to find direct replacements. All vendors seem to be out of stock. Any tips where I could look for them? Don't fancy putting the stick on ones that superskoda sells.
  3. I got 19x8.5 with ET37 all around on 235/35 tires and it is the max I would go. Your setup will be 2.4mm wider so your might get into trouble then again it really depends on tire profile and ride height.
  4. I'm happy to report that if people want to replace their window switches and light switch with chrome ones there is a good solution. I managed to find a Chinese vendor that has them all as a complete kit. Just tested them, they got the correct green illumination and work fine. https://www.ebay.com/itm/5pcs-Chrome-Headlight-Master-Window-Switch-Set-For-SKODA-Octavia-5E0-959-855/223278278630?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649 The build quality is on par with the stock ones so no compromise. If you find them somewhere else cheaper then feel free to post below. I'm guessing AliExpress will list them too. As for the mirror switch get one off an MK7 - it will fit perfect.
  5. I'm in the process of replacing non chrome switches with chrome ones. That means windows switches, wing mirror switch and light switch. With regards to driver's door window switches I tracked down a unit that is made for the MK7 Golf with number (5GG 959 857). There are plenty on ebay and Aliexpress and pretty cheap compared to OEM. These usually illuminate white so you need to swap over the caps (unless you like white). To make sure they fit the Octavia check if the bottom part of the key has the same shape otherwise don't bother. (indicated in the pic below). Soon as I find replacements for the other I will update.
  6. Installed the other day a set of paddle shifters. These are not extensions that you stick on your originals but a replacement kit made of aluminum. It consists of a 3D printed plastic base a couple of bolts and aluminum shifters. Quality is great but quite pricey. Installation was pretty much straight forward. Only thing that took a while was removing the gloss black trim that holds the infotainment controls as it is held into the steering wheel by a series of flimsy pegs so need a lot of care. End result looks great, almost OEM, brings out the sportiness of the car. They feel same as stock and having more surface to press definitely they are more ergonomic. https://www.hs-cnc.de/paddle-shifters/austausch-schaltwippen/skoda/68/dsg-paddles-v5-austauschschaltwippen-aluminium
  7. Replaced the cheap looking 12V plug with an Audi one (4H0 919 311). Look for it on ebay or AliExpress. They are inexpensive and do bring a bit more class to the interior.
  8. Today I received my dynamic led turn signals. There are a few vedors on ebay and AliExpress that sell these, mainly Chinese. The ones I picked up have a light tint. Quality and fitment is good and they work flawlessly for now. Blind spot area lights up too but due to the tint is not as bright as OEM. As a whole though they are by far much brighter (even during daytime) and more visible than OEM which I always found weak by design. The only negative I find is that they could be stealthier. The white diffuser inside is visible. I would like it to be much darker when off. I'll probably play around with some tint film and see how it affects the light ouput but to be honest its not a serious issue. To notice it you have to know where to look at. Got some pics and video for you to compare. https://www.ebay.com/itm/LED-Dynamic-Turn-Signal-Side-Mirror-Indicator-For-Skoda-Octavia-Mk3-5E-2013-2018/183387203209?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649
  9. Had the front of the car resprayed as the bonnet and front bumper resembled the surface of the moon. 3 harsh winters and roads full of salt really took a beating on the car. That is Germany for you. While I was at it, I installed the led indicators so no fried egg effect anymore and also installed a Milotec rear wing completing the set of exterior modifications. Last but not least applied a set of vinyl stickers I got from ebay on the vRS emblem to match the whole black and white theme going on.
  10. For I while now I've had the Rieger front lip but didn't bother posting about it as I wasn't happy with how it looked on the car. The double step put me off, wanted it something far more minimal and further more I had clearance issues every now and then since it adds quite a bit of height. So the plan was to make it into a single step lip which would follow the line of the side skirts and be more practical. Took it to a recent acquaintance of mine that does wonders with plastics, he cut it in half, removed the middle part, glued the two parts together with plastic and resprayed it. No one will ever know.
  11. Any good shampoo i.e. Meguiars or Chemical Guys should remove them with ease. There are bug specific products but I think it is a waste of money. Just invest in a good shampoo for the whole car and let is work before blasting with water.
  12. Thanx - yes it is the Reiger one in gloss black.
  13. Is it similar to what I got now? just would like to know if I did ok.
  14. It bugged me from the start the fact that all vRSs come only with sealant fluid and a compressor rather a proper spare and tools. Soon I'm off on a long trip and I don't want to take my chances so I tracked down a used 18inch spare which is common in the VW Group (5K0601011AA). You might find it with slightly different part numbers but essentially it is the same 18inch space saver spare with a Continental tyre on. I also tried to find a used spare wheel kit but no luck. So I bought one from Superskoda as the dealer had no idea about price nor availability. The kit comes with a screw-jack, wheel bolt wrench, a screw for fixing the spare wheel, wheel fastening strap and lifter handle. (5E0093860C) Notice that this polysterene box has four fins that help keep the boot's floor steady and level. No other box will do with regards to the vRS, combi or hatch. Ι transferred a few things from the other set, the compressor, tow hook etc and other minor things that will sure come handly. Also on the side pocket it is the perfect space for a fire extinguisher of 2kg. I used the strap for the med kit to hold the extinguisher in place.
  15. Nah I wouldn't bother paying as I got VCDS - from there on it allows you to tinker whatever you fancy. I did loads of changes based on the guide here: https://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/299424-octavia-iii-vcds-adaptations-tried-and-tested/
  16. I just happen to have the hazards on and snapped the pic the moment they were on. There is a way to have them on all the time, US style. The info is somewhere on the forum but I can't remember where exactly :(
  17. Going around town with the kids today - summer has been not very Greek.
