  1. SWMBO has had 2 BLT engined vrs's, both made over 150bhp on 2 different rolling roads each (152 and 153 respectively iirc). Fabooka maps seem to get a massive thumbs up on here, SWMBO has a Jabbasport remap with over 175, but given the choice I would strip it out and go with Fabooka, purely for the way people say it is configured (high and low torque versions)
  2. I would suggest that the main thing is whether the water pump has a steel or plastic impeller; to paraphrase 'Animal farm', steel Good, plastic Bad....
  3. If you don't know much about parts and tyres, how about this as a starter; Brake discs and pads circa £75-£100 from Euro Car Parts or carparts4less are around £75 for both Tyres, try Camskill, around £64 for a Uniroyal Rainsport 3, then £10-15 each tyre for fitting including valve and balancing Obviously you can oY less if you choose cheaper brands.
  4. Thanks guys, did it as a reflection of Briskoda, as well as the car, although they failed to mention the forum in the main body of the text! Nice to see that nobody really slags off the vRS as a car, but you always get the "can't see the point of a diesel/it ain't a hot hatch/Ibiza is better" brigade...
  5. Excuse the yoda moment, but if the brake pads are non existent, then may I suggest you have a careful look at the discs; if the pads were worn down really badly, the discs could also be damaged.
  6. Thanks Dan, appreciate that Been some interesting comments, but mostly positive about a vRS. Better than SWMBO Jeep Grand Cherokee CRD, which isn't starting due to a CanBus fault; fookin electrics....
  7. Well, as the above, SWMBO put her car forward to be featured on SWMBO 'carpool' Have a read guys, and let me know what you think! No doubt there will be some naysayers who are out to diss the vRS, so any positive comments to maintain the integrity of us vRS owners are welcome!!!!
  8. Wow, I guess we are talking about the sort of person that cleans and dusts their house, but leaves the toilet bowl covered in ****, and doesn't bother bleaching it? But seriously, I would expect to see a car that has clean interior and exterior to have a fairly clean engine bay, but if the car interior and exterior was dirty I wouldn't expect to see a sparkling engine bay.
  9. WHIlst they don't have an obligation to keep the public informed, my friend, still being a traffic cop (I'm retired) contacted VOSA for a copy of the latest regulations, and received them almost straight away. There is of course, the option to apply under the FOI Act......
  10. Gunk for any really oily deposits Then Chemical Guys products for the rest
  11. Seat belt is easy; remove the trim panels, pull out the seat belt and spray WD40 liberally on the recoil mechanism. Then let the seatbelt retract, then pull out and let retract several times. It should work fine now. Re the sloppy gear change, it may be worth looking at the 'Group Buy' section of the forum, look down the column for the "42 Draft / Verdict" entry, they are supposed to be excellent and remove the slack. However, it may also be worn bushing in the gear selector rods/mechanism, so check this first.
  12. Welcome, and hers my six-penneth worth; Check the service history for when it was last serviced, and if not done recently, book it in for a full service (oil change, oil filter, air filter, fuel filter etc) Should cost circa £135 at a specialist. Check the service history for when the cambelt was last changed; if you search on here you will find the definitive answer but I believe it should be changed very 40k. If there's no paperwork to support the fact that it's done, I'd consider that it hasn't been, and get it done ASAP. Should cost circa £300 at a specialist. Regarding the egr valve, you can either clean it, or remove it. She Who Must be Obeyed (SWMBO) is cleaning hers this weekend; when you take it off you may be amazed as to how clogged with oily gunk it is. Very easy to remove and clean. Hope this helps.
  13. Thanks for that vRS19TD, much appreciated, bloody pie phone is a sod to search on.
  14. Was thinking of getting one, but local Seat main stealer was quite off-hand with me, just mumbling it was "over £50 son". Son? I'm bloody 51!!!!! Think I'll go down the TPS route. Can someone link this to a fitting guide please (I'm on my iPhone and I'm struggling at the moment)
  15. I'd be going for a light that is white with a. Touch of blue, to match the headlights (hids4u kit)
  16. Ok, As the above, I'm looking for suggestions in order to replace the number plate lights and the interior lights with LEDs Not being bulb-savvy, can anyone suggest the exact type of bulbs I would need, and possible suppliers please. I know of autobulbs direct, Hids4u etc but can't make out if they supply the required bulbs and the exact type etc. Also If I replace the front fogs with HID bulbs, do they need the canbus-cancellers, or would it be better just to put in updated standard-type bulbs; if so, again I'd welcome any suggestions. Btw, before anyone suggests it, I appreciate that brighter bulbs in fog-lights may be counter productive, as you may just get more light reflected back at you..... Thanks in advance for any suggestions.
  17. eBay item no 201038026433 £309 inc all weather tyres, all 4/5 and 6/7 mm tread Looks a good deal, I'd be tempted except they are collection only in Colchester....
  18. Good price for Uniroyal Rain Sport 3's! I know that Camskill are doing them for circa £64 delivered, so that's a good deal you have there. With regards to fitting tyres across an axle, that's only essential on a 4wd. However, being anal about such things, I always replace both tyres on an axle, and keep that n/s/r tyre as a spare. Just a personal preference of course.
  19. Are my eyes deceiving me, or are those 2 Devonutopia bonnet lifters fitted there? If so, and it may sound stupid to ask, does it have Ny impact on how flush the bonnet closes, and also, I thought it was sufficient to fit just one?
