  1. I bought a 2006 2.0 FSi Elegance last month, and the lists of equipment above are all accurate. In addition it should also have a ski flap in the back seat, and the mirrors are heated. They don't fold though! Fantastic car though - I have never been happier with a purchase.
  2. Now thats penny pinching. I am surprised (though I shoudn't be) that an FL vRS only has one hook, when my 2006 Elegance has hooks on both sides and in the middle. It also has a CD changer in the left hand boot cupboard
  3. I have swapped to 98 ron in my Elegance 2.0 FSI and like you have found it smoother, even though it is mixed with about a quarter tank of 95. Ruinously expensive though!!
  4. Just to let you know it she is now in my possession and is lovely. So much quieter than the Focus, so much smoother. I think the only items I will miss from the Focus are: 1. Steering wheel controls for the stereo and 2. The heated windscreen - especially as my son pointed out I left my ice scraper in the old car - that £1.99 down the drain! Will post pics ife anyone is interested (and I work out how!)
  5. Definately look for some decent tyres. IMO the worst tyre ever is the Federal. I had them on the Focus, but they were so bad I had them replace with Firestones before they were even part worn. With me it wasnt braking, it was dry road grip. I even managed to get stuck in a country lane passing pace in Cornwall at one point!!
  6. Well I went, I saw, I bought! Subject to sorting out the finance I will take possession of MY Octavia 2.0 Fsi Elegance on Saturday afternoon. Everything seems to work (though thinking about it I didn't use reverse on the test drive...) Just need to run the petrol in the Focus down so that the light comes on before I swap it - wouldn't want it to go to auction with too much fuel in would I.
  7. Would re-locking after 30 seconds still happen if, say, you got out of your running car to de-ice the windscreen, for instance? Having visions of being locked out on a freezing morning here.
  8. Sorely tempted, but: 1. Insurance would be an issue - and it wouldn't last long against the chav population round here. 2. I am of an age where a car has to ride well. I don't like to drive everywhere like my hairs on fire, I prefer to croooose.
  9. I'm about to pop my Skoda cherry and go and look at a potential purchase. Briefly it is an Octavia 2.0 Fsi Elegance on an 06 plate. Less than 50k miles on the clock. Are there any points I shoud particularly look for? I think it has a chain driven cam, so at least there is no belt to worry about. However I am sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong! Thanks in advance!
  10. Excellent news Avant. (It is you isnt it?)
  11. If I was to get a car without multifunction wheel (most seem to be that way) is it possible to upgrade at a later date?
  12. Thought I would say hi. I am here as a refugee from honestjohns website woes, but I am actively looking for a Skoda, preferably a brisk one! I currently run a 2000 (X) Focus Ghia, and although it has been a fine and reliable servant big bills are looming so its time for a change. I have more or less decided I want an Octavia II, Elegance 2.0 FSI probably of 2006 vintage. I'm sure you will all shoot me down in flames if I have made the wrong choice, but at the moment I think it is the right one for me. I don't do many miles, so diesel is not necessary.
